    The underwound sounds great in the neck and combo with the + bridge. Wasn’t aware they offer this pup. Have used regular 57’s (around 7.4K) with a4 magnets in neck to great affects, IMO.

      @@MrBluzhound glad you liked the sound! I have another comparison I need to upload. I think I need to try the 57 UW again and maybe move raise it a little higher.
      I used a 57 Classic in the neck position with an A3 for a while. I don't remember what the A4 sounded like in it. I should probably revisit that too!

    What are your thoughts? 57 underwound sounded clearer in the neck

      I think it is clearer and what seems to be a flatter EQ. That being said, I'm going to redo this because I think I had some cold solder joints that may have impacted the sound quality. I will also compare it to a 57 Classic made in 2020 and not 2012.

      I have a 2016 LP Traditional that I have been swapping pups with. I have 57 Classic, 57 Classic plus, Burstbucker 1,2,3 , WCR Fillmore and Mojotone 59 clone. bridge. Currently have 57 Classic in neck and Mojotone 59 in bridge. I like the tone I get from the Mojotone in the bridge. I'm going to buy the 57 underwound and try it in both positions.

      @@rsbabson before I started swapping pickups in this guitar, I was using a Seymour Duncan 59 Hybrid with an A2 magnet in the bridge and the 57 Classic with an A3 in the neck. Right now I'm trying the Stewmac Parson Street A5 neck and overwound A5 in the bridge.

      Hey, @@ludblight , were you ever able to check those solder joints? What do you think of the underwounds now?

    • @ludblight
      @ludblight  Před 3 měsíci

      @@Asillyhobo yes. I removed the treble bleed and reflowed the solder. After I did this I put in a 57 Classic from 2020. I haven't put the 57 Classic Underwound back in. I will be shooting another video with the 57 Classic from 2020 and the underwound in the next couple of days.

    My 57 classics in 2 of my Les Pauls from 2014 and 2016 read 7.5 ohms dc resistance, and the 57 classic plus reads 7.9 ohms dc resistance. Not sure why such a low resistance?

      I think they make 2 different versions of 57 Classic Plus. I think the 57 Classic + is different from the aftermarket 57 Classic Plus, which has a higher resistance reading. I think the + only comes in the guitars with the 57/57+ from the factory.

      Yeah it’s getting confusing 😂 I’ve been using these since they came out around 1990, one thing I noticed is the specs on the 57 plus used to be 8.3 ohms and now their specs say 9k. I also have a super 57 in one of my guitars it’s supposed to read 8.7k but mine reads 8.2k, they all sound great but it’s weird that they’re lower than they should be. I really like the character of all the 57s they’re my favourite pickups all around, and I’ve tried a lot of different ones over 40 years of playing, but I always come back to them. Hand wired harness 50 style is also key for me. Good tones !
