What kills me is that KC 12 is 70 bucks at retail here in VA but we're paying 96 for Booker's aged at 6 and a half years . Excellent skirmish Matt. Cheers!
Thing that Is funny is the store picks at 14 are cheaper than the 15. And typically better. EDIT"" Haven't tried my 15 yet. Dont own a pick. Wish you did.
The other crazy thing is that Beam has such a strong relationship with the grocery chains that you can find KC 12 and 15 at a JewelOsco but not at my major local liquor retailer. KC 12 was under $60 in the Chicago area last fall when I bought a bottle.
$96 is expensive considering its $80 at most places, but I wonder what the cost loss of bottling Bookers at 25-30+ proof higher vs the tax on letting the bourbon age for 5 more years
I just picked up a bottle of KC 12 for $60. Booker's _really_ needs a price reduction. It's ridiculous.
Bookers had made a decision I believe about 4 years ago, made the papers, that they felt they were underpriced and could get more so they did. No change in anything, costs, just decided to almost double the price depending on where you buy it. In Virginia......sad. $90+ easy

I'm not surprised the 12 year won. Bourbon seems to have an aging limit around the 12 year mark where the flavors stop developing and just increase in intensity. Love how entertaining these are!

I just found a store that has kc12 at $47 on the regular. Needless to say, I bought a case. This shit is phenomenal
I bought the Knob Creek 12 before a freeze a few weeks back, based on your earlier review of it. School was canceled and then all my kids got sick. KC12 bottle got broke in really good that week!
I had KC 12 a couple of years back but my experience with it was ruined! Our town was evacuated, due to a wildfire and I opened the 12 year, while I was sitting in a hotel room in Sacramento, anxiously waiting for any type of news on our town.
Sadly, we lost our town and along with it, my home and all of my belongings. Finished the bottle within the few weeks that I was in that hotel. Can’t say I ever took the time to actually enjoy it like I should have. Haven’t come across another bottle, ever since!
However, I did just pick up a bottle of the 15 year!

KC15 is highly sought after and allocated - about $105-$130 in L.A. I think the age statement is driving the demand with its flavor profile being secondary. KC12 is one of my favorites. It is a beautiful dram to sit with. KC12 hit a lot of “Best of” lists after which supplies dried up until about middle of last year - boat loads everywhere. Even Costco had it at $54 with no limit. Let’s hope Jim Beam keeps this in KC’s lineup for good.

One hundred percent agree. The 12 year is the sweet spot. Although I have saying 9 year single barrel bottles that are heavenly that on any given day I prefer even over the 12 yr.

Like I stated in a reply in this thread, I have both bottles and they are both half full (about 2 months now) and the 15 opens up better than the 12. The 15 is sweeter and more balanced while the 12 year gets more spicy and oaky and loses it sweetness. I figured it would be the other way around but that is my experience. It's all personal preference but I will pay 100 for the 15 vs 70 for the 12 any day of the week.
I prefer the single barrel. I’m hoping my Twelve gets better with air. Haven’t opened the 15 yet. Wish I’d got the Twelve cask strength.

Keep your head in the clouds but your mind........on not always buying the more expensive bourbon because one of your friends tells you that it's the best, but you watched this video and you know that it's not.
I see you upped your science game by labeling the glasses 12 and 15 instead of A and B. Also, empty Knob Creek glasses smell the best. Sometimes, I'll nose a glass for 20 minutes before getting a 2nd pour.
Same. This one does smell great. I love just sitting with the lingering smell of certain whiskeys after the glass is empty. Old Forester 1910 is one of my fav "after" smells, like fig newtons.
KC 12 yr. is hard to beat. So good. Enjoyed the first bottle, and am saving my second for a special occasion. LOVE IT!!!

You should put the regular Knob Creek 100 proof 9 yr against the 12 yr. It's solid af & I like it better than the 12 yr. I haven't had the 15 yr.

Hands down the best KC are the old 14-15yr+ 120 proof store picks that were put in barrels in the early 2000s.

there's a bar here that has a 15 yr pick for $11 a pour they bought the whole barrel it will be there for years

Haven't had 15 but I do like both 9 and 12 and also the 120 proof one. Not sure the price difference is warranted...sounds like you didn't think so either.

12 is one of my all time favorites, I had to have family mule me one down, can't even find it in my town for a decent price. I haven't bought 15 because of reviews being less favorable versus the 12 year. Plan to compare it to Bookers Bardstown batch soon.

I’ve avoided the 15 seeing as it has so many meh reviews but I have the 12 and find it really complex but good. I’ve heard the 15 ages quite well too from many people.

@@35057 Yup, It's all over here in NC as well because of so many meh reviews of it. That makes me happy as I was able to grab a few. I don't usually pay 100 for bourbon but I love KC and the 15 is exceptional in my opinion.

I love both of these. They were pretty expensive here in TN but mostly worth it. If 12 is always cheaper I probably would go that route because I can't tell a big difference between them either.

Why do I torture myself watching the KC 12 pound the KC 15. I so overpaid and am still waiting for someone to pick the 15
I'm not sure how I keep disagreeing with Whiskey-tube on this one... I've had 2 different bottles of KC 15 and 3 different bottles of KC 12 and the 15 wins hands down every time and it's never been close. Even blinded them and still the KC 15 by a mile for me... I'm not sure if I've just found all of the best KC15 bottles there are but it seems I've disagreed with every whiskey tuber on this.

I got a sample bottle of the 15 that I'll have to skirmish against my bottle of 12 and see if I feel the same. And I like your ex'es better than mine. I have an ex that was preetttyyy bitter with me and I never slept with her mom. Although I do recall her mom being attractive and probably would have given the opportunity.
