- Retired US Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell openly shares how he became a SEAL after growing up running from fights and being a surprise twin.
As most know of his story as depicted in the book and movie, Lone Survivor, being the only member of his SEAL Team to survive Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005 left Marcus with a story only he can tell.

That's why I've listened to hundreds of Luttrell's different interviews and speeches telling his story and they never get old. I can't imagine myself as a 14 yr old and through HS doing the training they were doing. I was too busy playing sports, chasing girls and drinking beer with all the buddies. Big time respect.

I’d agree, we need leaders like Marcus, not saying we want Marcus, but that we want him to do what retired SEALS do, be a dad, be a husband and brother and son...and anything else he wants to do. The SEALS have given a lot. Brother Morgan is doing what his SEAL commander is telling him. Texas will be better for him being in office too.

I was the crew chief of HH-60G Pavehawk #90-26227 (Killer Catfish) which rescued Marcus. It is to be retired from the Air Force Reserve in Spring of 2025. After spending an unknown amount of time in the Boneyard, it will be sent to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio for permanent display because of this significant event.
If you were there you agree then that the movie completley exaggerated the rescue operation. There was no C-130 raining down hell on an enemy force. Marcus’s team was ambushed by a force of about 8 enemy fighters. Apparently there is a Predator feed of this battle and what it shows is Marcus running for his life. Bailing out asap. This is coming direct from a retired Seal named Eric Deming, a Seal who is pist at guys like Marcus who are making a profit off of Lies.

I’m a 34 year old grown man with 2 kids. And I’m in tears right now. Marcus I needed to hear everything you just said. I’m embarrassed,hearing you guys tell it like it just is. Mentality I’m in a lost anxiety filled emotions because I kno I’m better than what I’ve been doing. People reading this might not believe me. But Listening to Marcus and him telling you facts has changed my outlook on we’re im at. Marcus thank you for being the honest genuine person.

All of his Brothers are dead . He saved no one . He just saved his on Ass . And the Mission ? Faild ! So he is a Hero ?
Worst possible scenario life could throw at a human being? Sorry, but no. Absolutely a hardship, but there are some truly awful things in life that far exceed what he endured.

A lone survivor in such a situation would be a hell of a temptation to fabricate and take certain liberties with facts to boost his bad ass image and reputation. Who honestly wouldn’t, and who can claim he’s lying? He’s the only one that knows what happened.

I’m an Iraq/Afghanistan combat veteran 42 years old and I’ve drove for 22 years OTR mainly high/heavy and wide, but I ran flatbed and reefer too. But the greatest part of my days are being alone in the cab that way no one asks me questions about stuff I never talked about. Keep it between the ditches driver and everyday is a win if we can pull that off

I spent 9 years in the ME and had a severe TBI and ptsd . I can tell you it’s never as bad as you think & never as good as you think . I was a prisoner of my own home suffering for several years & I made changes in my life to get where I am now . No day is easy but everyday is a gift . Once you realize that and don’t take anything for granted you can get through anything.
Keep fighting the good fight, and know, we are fighting with you. Never alone. I get it.
One thing I noticed about Marcus, he keeps it simple. Every time I listen to him, seen all the interviews n podcasts, he repeats himself every time. Same message, same stories, same jokes, lol, but I see his point, live by a simple set of codes, have good morals, and love god, your wife, country, & fellow man and you can live your dreams. Don’t even think about the rest of the bullcrap… Trim it off and you can be free whenever and whether… Good man! Love this guy, for real!

I've been privileged to attend one of Luttrell's keynote speeches at a large corporate event in Florida. I've been following his story since Operation Red Wing happened, then his book and was front row and center for his keynote speech. I can tell you that his PTSD and emotional damage is LEGIT and 100% real and on full display if you're ever at one of these events. You can tell he's a man who's been through HELL and worse. He may come across as articulate and charming on video....but this man is suffering and will always suffer. After this particular event a bunch of corporate VIPs were backstage with their copy of Lone Survivor waiting for Marcus to sign them. These are C-level executives for fortune 100 companies like NCR, Toshiba, Dell, etc... and Marcus slipped out the back door and left them ALL waiting. He never promised to sign their books....they just assumed he would. I loved it, made me an even bigger fan of the man.

Marcus Luttrell is a great man. For someone to experience war and the loss of team mates associated with war. Then to be redeployed and continue to fight in war. I'm glad he's living a civilian life and living life as a family man. It's very humbling to me to see how great he's transitioned from warrior to husband and father. He's still a warrior always will be!!! Never forget the sacrifice that our military has made. And continues to make for 🇺🇸. The brave men and women in our military have fought and died for us to enjoy our freedoms. And they continue to do so. Love honor respect and live life the best that we can God bless all of humanity 🙏

So how I talk with my nurses is the exact way I talk with my kids. I’m the leader and boss but I’m also friends with them as long as everything is being done correctly and they don’t take advantage. As soon as somebody steps out I flip a switch and go back to daddy.

What a great motivator! I spoke with my cousin the other day, we are both almost the same age, he is 73 and I am 74. I told him we have to live life to the fullest every day; you never know when your 8 seconds are up at the end of the ride.

i’m not easily impressed but i met Marcus one time for a brief moment and two years later to the day he came back to our shop, he reached out to shake my hand and called me by name. i did even recognize him the first time we met, i told him that the second time, he told me oh man it’s all good we just met 😂 super cool guy

This Man is a walking representation of someone stating "certain humans are built different". Individuals like Marcus, and his brother Morgan, are taken for granted in this country day after day. In the past I was admittingly one of those individuals who didn't understand the difference between a Marcus Luttrell and others like myself. Today I am proud to say that I understand much better the sacrifices these mean give up in life for individuals like myself to live in this country freely and safely. Closest thing to a real life superhero in the flesh!!! Simply built different to do things and withstand things most of us could never even imagine going through. Absolute definition of a Bad Ass!!!!

I’m a mom of two sets of twins and a single daughter. My boys were in the Navy. They served on The Big E on her final deployment. My husband also served on the Big E, CVN 65. They all were part of the decommissioning of the ship. My boys also say from the womb to the tomb.
I’m a huge supporter of our military and Marcus in particular. I make his mama’s prime rib every Christmas. I got the recipe from a video by Steve Doocey.
