Is no one gonna talk about how Garry asked Hao, "Is it difficult today? Is it difficult that you wanna cry?" then tried to calm him saying that that's okay, that it is normal to feel shy on his first day. 🥺
I don't think many parents have that talk with their kids 😕

This is the first time I've ever watch a kid behave like that because they didn't want to stay at kindergarten. He didn't even shed tear while at the class but shedding tears in the car after trying to talk to his dad. It's like he want to say sorry for his action and also dissapointed in himself but end up crying silently. The fact that he even start that conversation himself really amazed me.
Hal’s behavior is very common in early childhood stage in going into new environment, I work with children nursery children for 19 years, and children develop at different pace, he cognitive skills are above average but his social emotional skill still needs to improve and that is 100% okay! He did adjust his social skills will Jam jam if you notice, he always tends to shy away at first but in the latter he will be fine. Imagine an adult like us will not feel comfortable when we suddenly go to a new environment with meeting strangers, it’s really scary! Just imagine a person going at the first day of job, and he or she is helpless because she doesn’t know how to start. But for a young child that will be left alone to people full of strangers? Or course I will panic if I am Hao! But I admire him because he adjusted well in his new school 👏 job well done Hao
And the way Kang Gary consoled him is also very heartwarming. "You did well", "you played well", " "The other kids find it hard at first too. It's okay" T.T

A lot of kids hold stuff in at school and unleash if at home/ with their parents because many kids see that as their safe space. I’ve had parents tell me their kids (I thought PreK and kinder) loved school even though they acted emotional all day and parents who tell me their kids have trouble coming in the morning even though they’re well behaved all day. It really depends on the kid and their relationship with their teachers and parents

its rare that a toddler is so composed that at his age lots of kids will throw tantrum, but not Hao.
I love how Gary continued to encourage Haoh to share his feelings even though Haoh felt bad and couldn't say anything in the car. After he said "It's nothing", most parents would've stopped there and the whole car ride will be quiet, leaving a bad memory in the child's heart. But Gary asked him "Was it difficult for you?" and continued to ask him other questions gently, it allowed Haoh to open his heart to his dad and feel comfortable to share why he was crying. Gary really is a very good dad, he is building his communications with Haoh, at the same time comfort him when he feels bad, in stead of getting mad at Haoh, he was very understanding and patient. Glad to see Haoh adapting to school :) He is growing up little by little :'(
One thing I learned, Gary not mad at his son. instead he complimented his son and gives him a courage words. ☺️
Hao is like Lee Haru before, they can easily communicate with people who are older than them but they find it difficult to socialize with kids in their same age. But good thing he adjusted eventually. Very good Hao.
But he and jam jam are good friends right.. Even though he is shy sometimes
It doesn't appear that he has age or gender related problem... By nature he is shy... He takes time to adjust with everyone... People who know him beforehand or who behave with known familiarity, scare him... Same thing happened with Jamjam and Song Gain...
@@salimanazrin6383 He was shy with Jam Jam at the start, but it was easier to open up with Jam Jam because Gary was there and there was only one Jam Jam. He is suddenly in a foreign environment with a bunch of kids he's never seen before. It's natural for him to feel shy and afraid. And Haoh's nature is also shy, but he is friendly with older people.

I touched when Gary said " it's okay, you did well haoh, it's normal". Gary gives his best for haoh. I cry when Haoh can't say sorry to his dad " nothing" , he wanted to say something.
Fellow asians know how emotionally constipated our parents can be lmao. My sisters and I grew up very detached and unemotional because of how we were raised. But I'm glad that Gary is telling him to share his feelings, letting him vent and talk to him and be vulnerable. I think that this is a wonderful parenting technique. Good for Gary and good for Haoh as well
The only time when my parents talk to me is to ask to my grades😂. If I did badly, they nod. If I did well, they nod. It's like they're completely expressionless and I grew up feeling unloved
Communication really is important. I'm a Chinese and I'm lucky because my mum always asks me how is school and everything (she sometimes complains that I don't tell her enough things), and when I was young, even when she beat me, she will comfort me and hug me after that to make sure I am ok. Because of that I don't bore any hatred or grudge against her and we have a very good relationship and I can tell her everything. Whereas for my friends, even though her mum didn't hit her, but they don't have a lot of communications between them and even after punishing them there was no reconciliation, they ended up having a really cold and distant relationship.
It's understandable. He's not even 3, never apart from his family and shy with strangers. It's sad to see him disappointed in himself because he thought he did not do well though. I'm glad everything turns out ok. Haoh and appa fighting !

Can't help not to cry when Hao was trying to say something-maybe he wants to unleash his disappoinment with himself abt his first day in school. Gary, as parent, try to console him ackkkk. It's the warmest thing a parent can do for their child.

Really appreciate Gary for the way he comforts Hao. He asks him whether it's hard or not for him instead of telling him something like "you should do better" or "why can't you do it right"
i keep forgetting how young he is because he’s so smart and well spoken so i dont realize he’s only 3, this is his first year of school and he’s around a bunch of kids and people for the first time in months bc of covid and just in general so there’s no shock that he was scared and he cried.

Idk why but im crying so hard when gary asked haoh 'was it difficult today?'. As an adult, ive to experience so many things for the first time. Studied, graduated, applied for a job & worked for the first time. Its so hard. So hard to adapt with adulting things. It needs courage from yourself. You're afraid but have no choice to just follow the flow. So when gary asked haoh i felt that he asked me too😔😭

I like how Gary reassured Hao that he did good and that it was okay knowing that Hao was having difficulty adjusting to his surroundings and he wanted to apologize.

This is one of my favorite Gary and Ha-oh clips that I keep coming back to. Not many dads take the time to comfort, talk and listen to their children, showing such empathy. Unfortunately, I see many dads try and shove their kids fears aside through "tough love," especially towards their sons, using phrases like "Real men don't/would..."
I hope more dads learn to listen and encourage their children like Gary.

I remember Lee Hwijae’s kids just blended right in on the first day. People are so unique even starting at such a young age. This show teaches me a lot
I think because they are twins and they are used to with kids at the same age. While Haoh is the only child, the first child of both side of family. Look like Haoh spends lots of time traveling with his parents pre-COVID. Remember Gary says Jam Jam is Haoh first friend and it takes Haoh a while to get used to her.

gary is such such such a good parent. instead of scolding hao, he encourages and tells hao what he did well despite a not so good first day. i have no doubt that hao will adjust to school well in the future. the kid is very social, this was just too much at once. he will get used to it and he will thrive!!
🥺🥺🥺🥺 💙 Haoh was tearing when he admitted that it was hard at first when he told his dad that is a vibe! Especially when you are in a new environment that your are unfamiliar with.. I’m glad now that he adapts and enjoys his class!
Encouraging words from his father gave him courage to went the next day. I wish all of us receive encouraging words from our family or love ones so that we can continue are life even if it is too hard.

This is an overdue comment because I've only started watching this precious boy, but it's very common for preschoolers to act like that on their first day. The one thing we suggest to parents that's usually effective is for the child to come on time or a bit early so they can see the other kids prior coming inside the classroom. That way, they won't feel like they were left behind.
I like how Gary responded Haoh feeling. He confirmed his sad feeling but also continue supported him to do better for the next day. Such a great parent!

At first, when Gary said he's feeling nervous and asked Haoh if he's nervous too.. then Haoh said he's not. I thought Haoh would be easily adapt to school, he's a clever boy.. he would also easily befriend others and maybe asked Gary to leave. But then, when they enter the kindergarten and he seems like cannot separate from his dad.. then I realised he's just like other kids who have separation anxiety. It's normal for behaving like that. It's good to know that he can adapt to school after few days. Haoh adjusted himself really fast. There are some kids who still have separation anxiety more than a month, even half a year

I really like how Gary talked to Haoh especially in the car, letting him know it was ok. I was extremely shy and new and unknown situations made me very nervous and no one ever told me it was ok to feel the way I was feeling. I hope other parents see this and it helps with their parenting. I think a good thing to remember is that children experience emotions just like adults. Sometimes adults don't realize that and for kids the emotions are very new and how they are treated when they are younger will effect them as they get older.

I remember my first day in the kindergarten, I was like Haoh too, being shy and only stick to my mum. But then my mum talk to me, persuade me saying it's okay if I don't want to school we can just play together at home. Later on she brought me to mcd to make me feel better. My mum was just like Gary, convinced me by saying it's okay not to be okay and I did well that day instead of scolded me

Gary is so patient with Haoh and it's just so great to see, I think it really helps Haoh to be more expressive and talkative! I think at the beginning, Gary said Haoh loved his mom more but I honestly think Haoh is growing to really loved his dad too! :)

it blows my mind because technically, Hao is still 2 years old, almost 3. he has such high intelligence, emotionally as well, and i feel like it’s an honor to get to witness his growth through this program.
My mom also stayed with me on the first day of kindergarten, she was in the front of the room, and evwntuslly i got used to it and wanted her to leave 😂

And when i entered kindergarten, i fall asleep during class but my mom kinda thinks its funny because everytime i would wake up, i would just do whatever everyone is doing normally like nothing happened. HaOh is only a kindergartener but has higher IQ and EQ than me in my first year in college. I'm proud of him. He is already growing up so fast!!

I think Hao is partly introvert. I've been a pre-school teacher before and saw kids that are partly introverted behave just like him on their first day....and it's pretty normal...😊 Hao~ we're so proud of you...
I didn't know that parents would take their kids if they felt uncomfortable. When I was in kinder even when I was crying or other kids crying they would just leave them no matter if they cried.

Gary's schedule is probably more flexible than most parents whose just a regular office worker, most people don't have choice but leave their kids at daycare

I love Haoh and Gary so much. I love that both of them really understood each other despite not saying anything. Haoh felt bad, i’m sure. The way he called his father seemed like he wanted to apologize and Gary was more worried compared to other parents who would simply get mad. Ugh I think I love them even more now.

I suddenly remember my father always asking me ''How's school?'' when I was in kindergarten 'til college 😭 and then now that I have my own job, he's always asking me ''how's work?''.I think that is the way to comfort your child 😊💖

This video reminds me of my first time I took my daughter to the school. My heart was broken when I saw her crying for the first time being with strangers without me be on her side. Luckily she adapted pretty well just like Hao did. Kudos to Gary for being an understandble dad. Both parents raised Hao well with good manners n smart.

I hated going to school. I hated being separated from my mom. My mom still tells me all the stories about me crying. Haoh is just built different, man. I've never seen a kid so excited to go to school.

Hao is obviously an introvert. He has a great relationship with her parents and with the people who he used to but he has quite a hard time around the new surrounding and people at the school and gets overwhelmed by much new stimulants there. He tried his best to control his emotions and not being scared for his first day at school because he doesn't want to make his dad worried. But he didn't managed to do that and he feels bad that he can't do the best for his dad. I'm relieved to see how Gary concern about Hao and asked if he was okay or not and talked about it over as an introvert child may hide their emotions well and that can be a bad things for them. Look at how tired Hao is from all the new stimulants that he received that day. And when he finally able to adjust with the surrounding, he has no problem on making his own way there. I'm not even married yet but I learnt a lot from Hao's family and I hope that someday I will be a better parents for my children! 💙
