    The Dark Age of Technology is one of the highest points humanity ever reached, and one of the lowest as well. It paved the way to the current 40k Era, where Humanity views high technology from this age with suspicion at best, and heretical at worst.
    We aren't sure what the Emperor of Mankind was up to during this era, but he was doubtless involved to some degree doing some things in this era.
    The weapons deployed during this era by Humanity and its AI ran empires were magnitudes more deadly then the deadliest Exterminatus options humanity currently has access to as well.
    We delve into some theory on other weapons and armies that could have existed in this era, and also speculate about possible factions or empires that could be revealed to us in the future.
    The model of the Speranza used was made by LordCarmi on deviantart who you can find here:

    14:02 This might be the most powerful feat in the entire setting. Spacetime-consumption is already broken. But it not only consumes spacetime. It consumes even higher-dimensional „space“. There is speculation, that the Warp is essentially something that‘s called „The Bulk“ in theoretical physics. An at least 11-dimensional construct that houses different universes and makes up the „space“ between them. If we midball this, the Mechanovore not only devours spacetime in the 40K-Universe but spacetime of the adjacent universes and parts of the Bulk too!
    And to top it all off: It not only destroys these structures but converts them into information (essentially digitises them). This points to multiversal computing and data storage capabilities.
    Absolutely insane. Even for the DAoT this is powerful stuff and doesn‘t scale to it‘s usual depicted power-level. So I like to see this as an out-lier and an author wanking DAoT-humanity up. Still, this is the strongest case of multiversal capabilities of the DAoT.

      Yeah I mean it's one sentence in one book from a character who assumedly witnessed them to some degree.
      Funny how in 40k this thing isn't the subject of a novel it's just a passing mention.

      My personal headcanon is that such broken technologies were not the product of Humanity's design alone, as in one of the Mechanicum-focused Heresy books, the idea that all knowledge potentially already exists in the Warp is explored though Koriel Zeth's Akashic Reader. Given that all evidence shown in the setting thusfar has pointed towards the Warp being far more calm and stable in the DAOT prior to the Age of Strife, it is entirely possible that the DAOT humans or at least their AI were able to do something similar, and pluck specific knowledge from the Warp in order to do things that otherwise would nor be physically possible.
      Another factor to consider is the largest shard of the Void Dragon, which was subdued by the Emperor after being hit by 6 Blackstone fortresses during the War in Heaven, and imprisoned beneath the surface of Mars. The Emperor somehow knew that by doing this, the passive influence of the dormant Dragon (often referred to as its "dreams") would influence any humans that would live on Mars in the future to be influenced into technologically advancing at a faster rate than would otherwise be naturally possible. Add to this, the Void Dragon was the most technologically-inclined of the known C'tan, being the one that gave the Necrons the ability to create the Blackstone null array that if they had succeeded, would have eventually cut off the entire galaxy and wherever else they were built from the Warp permanently.
      So with these factors to consider, it becomes at least MORE believable that the DAOT humanity would be able to create machines that destroy and convert targeted areas across multiple simultaneous dimensions.

    To give some prospective to how advanced technology was during the Age of Technology. The Phalanx is the largest and most advanced warship in the Imperium. Was abandoned over a small used up mining planet.

      It's only in one trilogy of books so far. By Graham McNeil.
      Look up the Forge of Mars series. Highly recommend.
      The Phalanx is presumed as well to be from the Dark Age which is why I put it in the video in the collage.
      The Phalanx may not have been a Battleship or base of any kind.
      I bet it was some other structure retrofitted later on into what it is today. It doesn't have any exotic or esoteric weaponry like the Speranza unless these are also hidden.
      The Speranza has legit some of the only functioning dark age weaponry known.
      Estimated sizing for the Phalanx is between 900 to 1200km.
      Meaning if the Speranza is bigger if it's continent sized.
      This might account for volume total and cubing the kilometers...some people think the speranza is "only" 100 to 130km long...which is woefully shorter in length then the description of it being "continent" sized and other capital level ships docking in it.
      Unless they are saying it's a densely packed vessel, but still.

    I really need to get my DAoT project going. I am trying to design a sun snuffer ship and I am still in the lore gathering phase, videos like these are helpful. I figure it would be around twice the size of earth and can expand around a star from that size. This is essentially the same technology as a Blackstone fortress but much bigger and in my lore it was directly inspired from whispers of the void dragon of mars to the men of iron. This technology is essentially a technological version of what the C'tan can do by their very nature. Does anyone know if the castigator class titan was one of the men of gold or men of iron faction?

    • @DeathBYDesign666
      @DeathBYDesign666 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Btw to clarify what I meant by "twice the size of earth" is essentially just a relatively flat surface therefore nowhere near as massive as a planet, I am talking size not mass and thinking it had a Necron/C'tan type origin it might also have inertialess drive capabilities. There are other FTL type modes of transportation in this universe and the AI might have discovered some of them, especially since it has the literal origin of said knowledge at it's disposal. This AI could actually be some pawn of the void dragon. You see I make it up as I go along, but it's totally plausible according to the most current setting lore. Men might not do its full bidding but an AI that it helped to create might.
      How did the emperor contain this entity though with medieval level technology? He must have had access to a tesseract labyrinth or vault from Necron technology he discovered somewhere on earth in his nearly 8000 years at that point. They are totally going to say he was Merlin aren't they?

    • @fadelsukoco3092
      @fadelsukoco3092 Před 3 měsíci

      Well, the Void Dragon in Mars is not the entire thing, as there are other shards that the Necrons have access to as shown in more recent codexes and models, but it's still believable to assume that the one in Mars is by far the largest or "main" one. The main reason the Emperor would have been able to defeat it is not due to any weapons, but the fact that he imbued his psychic power into his attacks, and as we know, Warp energy is anathema to the existence of the C'tan.
      Another factor that would have helped the Emperor, not that he would have known it, is that during the War in Heaven, the full Void Dragon was hit by the combined full power of 6 Blackstone fortresses designed by the Eldar god Vaul (and combing the power of Blackstone fortresses seems to have an exponential effect, since 2 of them combined can destroy a planet while 3 combined can cause a Star to go supernova). After this attack severely weakened it, this was most likely when the Necrons would go and shatter it into shards, even if the core of its body managed to escape into the Sol system. It's also hinted that the wound caused by the Blackstone fortresses was still present on the core of the Dragon when the Emperor fought it, giving him a weak point to concentrate his attacks into, as he observed that the Necrodermis there did not repair for some reason.

      @thedarklightemissary8463  Před 4 měsíci

      Welcome to 40k and the lore dude! Hard to say. We really have little knowledge on the Dark Age.
      We don't know really what the Emperor was truly up to. We do know he is a mix of esoteric sorcery and science knowledge though.
      Certainly some dark age tech could harm the warp, more as a side effect then targeted effect unlike the Emperor.
      I'd say on a sheer technology level the Dark Age had some very dangerous tech that could challenge the Emperor. But the Emperor would be able to challenge it back.

      It's still smaller then craft worlds but might be the closest that humanity has to one relatively.
      Doing some quick research most people seem to think the Aeldari possess the knowledge to make more but don't have the time or population to warrant making more, and likely resources as well. If Wraithbone even truly takes up resources.

When does cybernetic revolt started the men of stone reach out back to. The men of gold. And this is what they said we do not know how long we can hold them we will hold them as long as we can we need reinforcements. Where do you think the idea of a servitor came from.
