Southern 4501 Norfolk Southern Employee Special, June 26, 1991

In her 25th year of excursion service we find Southern 4501 pulling a Norfolk Southern Employee Special through the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. The mountainous terrain offers some great audio of the whistle and exhaust echoing off of the mountainside as the train winds its way through the Appalachians. That seems like a very late departure from Newport for Asheville. I wonder what time they arrived back in the Land of the Sky? Fantastic videos and THANK YOU many times over for sharing. I’m awash in a flood of wonderful memories while watching these!

@@hoscalemadness if they would put a question out. What paint would you prefer her in the black that she’s currently in? Or put her back in Southern Green? I bet more of them would say southern green!
