    I’ve never cared for heavy makeup and was concerned when I first tried the Cle de Peau foundation…it was so thick. Once it was applied, though, I was impressed and have come to really love it. I can cover my face with one pump, by dotting the foundation on my face, then smoothing it with the Cle de Peau foundation brush. Anything left is pulled down onto my neck. Also found that the “matte” formula still has some radiance, which I don’t mind. Although I don’t powder my entire face, I do use the Chantecaille pressed powder in my T zone. Yes, the scent is surprising, but it dissipates as the foundation settles down. And it’s hard to beat the longevity.

    This is my holy grail foundation. 58 years old, oily, less than perfect skin. I wear O10. My other foundations get very little love these days. Oh, and half a pump is all I use, using my fingers

    I have coloring very similar to yours and it has always been frustrating trying to find a foundation that is not too yellow. Often what is hyped as neutral also ends up looking very yellow. I can see the yellow in this although that sheers out as you apply it. I find your reviews very informative.

    Pampered Wolf also influenced me to get the Cle de Peau foundation. I am loving it though I got B20 and it's a little bit dark for me so I mix in a drop of a lighter foundation (Koh Gen do).

    The Cle de Peau foundations all oxidize on me, I use the Radiant Natural (the Matte was too drying for me), but since they oxidize I had to go down a shade to O10. The B10 is perfect for me when I first put it on but then it gets too dark. I love this eye look on you. And, YOU and the bright lip!!! Really makes your eyes pop!

    20:30 after applying your concealer the undereye area got worse. It's much more noticeable, I'm afraid. It happens to me a lot so if you watch it, you will see instead of hiding the undereye are it draws attention to it. It didn't happen with the first concealer you used, but it did with the second (I think it was clinique). Maybe you just put too much or maybe this one doesn't suit you. Anyway, thanks for the video and I wish you a very happy 2023.

    I'm so glad you conceded to the fact that you were using way too much and that one pump is more than enough to cover the face and neck (if necessary).
    Have you tried colour correcting the red areas on your face? Applying a green tinged colour corrector would bring down the redness, meaning less foundation needs to be applied.
    I love Pampered Wolf (Gemma), her vids are fantastic and, because she's a fully qualified aesthetician, she really knows her stuff. She's also pretty funny but she doesn't mean tk be 😂. Incidentally, I bought this foundation because our Gemma loves it and she's quite right, it is a beautiful. 😊😊

    I am so grateful you talked about the strong scent. Clarins foundations are too, but the worst I had was the original By Terry one, unbearable and not a nice scent either. So I will pass on this one and save me £££.

    Have you ever tried covering the red with green concealer? I found a super inexpensive one I like NYX color corrector palette, but I have tried them all cheap and expensive. When I was in my 20s my skin got torn up from a combination of retinoids and birth control injections. I had really red skin then but it has since calmed down but I still use green makeup around my nose and on a broken vein on my cheekbone I got on my first pregnancy. I use the Cle de Peau Correcting Cream Veil which I bought with the Cle de Peau fluid foundation but I find the correcting cream (which I love) is all I need. Plus I have always felt like less is more for my type features and skin. But the foundation looks great on you and the concealers you use do the job.

    I will probably try one of these foundations next. I just bought the La Mer liquid foundation at Sephora, and I was more than disappointed. It smelled sickeningly of alcohol. It did not sting my skin, but I was not at all impressed. It clung to dry patches I didn‘t know I had! I have never been so certain that I would return a product. I had tried a sample of it, and that was nothing like this. What a waste of my 20% discount!

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  Před 2 lety +1

      So odd that the sample was different! Mine does not smell like alcohol (it does have fragrance though) I wonder if it was expired or they changed the formula...

    • @janine4360
      @janine4360 Před 2 lety +1

      I could have checked the date I suppose, but now the thing is packaged up for return! For that price tag, it‘s not even worth trying again. The Cle de Peau sounds good, and it looked good on you, too. I don‘t think I‘ll mind the fragrance? I enjoy Chanel‘s, for example. I am interested in good coverage, moisturizing, and skinlike finish. And long lasting if possible. 😉 I have a few to rely on until then.

    If CdP ever offered deep discounts I may try it. Or as a gift. 😉
    Crazy money!
    I learned about CdP from Pampered Wolf when she first tried it. Since then I reached out to the company, but unless I have a CZcams channel they aren't sending even a sample my way. 👎
    And since I am very pale I cannot seem to narrow down to any one color anyway, and heavily scented does not play nice for my sensitive eyes and skin.
    Michele Wang was sent 2 FREE bottles. 🤦🏼‍♀️
    *and she's a BIG $pender
    I must stick with companies like Kosas and their healthy ingredients. (and excellent customer service)
    Cold is all relative isn't it?
    Folks here in FL. put on parkas, hats and scarves if it hovers around 60°.
    I am still eagerly awaiting cold temps and would like to turn off my airco soon.

    I’m actually surprised that you chose shade 11 in Lisa Eldridge foundation, I would definitely, for your undertones, have recommended 12. The difficulties quite a few people seem to be having, getting her foundation to work, seems to be that they’re trying too hard. Try just patting it on with your fingers and without a mirror, until it’s nearly dry, then gently pat to finish using a mirror.

    • @TheHoodedLid

      I don't have a rosy undertone - I have a slight yellow undertone with surface redness. It was her match finder that turned me to 11. I actually tried 9, 10 & 11 from the bubble. The 10 was supposed to be neutral - but looked olive on me.
