  • This high energy horse does not like taking a right lead in the lope. He uses his rib cage to push on your leg in order to avoid the right lead. Autumn is 13 years old and has learned to use the one rein stop, she has learned to position her horse to take the right lead. She also understands the power of one rein while riding. Once you have developed the softness of the flex and one rein stop it opens the door to riding with one rein and allows you to stop pulling on your horse. The rest of this session will be in the next segment, where she learns to ride with her seat to stop her horse.
Horsemanship is an ongoing learning process. Young and old learn from instruction and learn from practice. Autumn in this video is an avid rider wanting to be better and better. You notice she doesn’t get rattled. She has the confidence to stop her horse no matter what is going on. It’s a mind set that says I have the tools to control my horse. I have the confidence to ride this horse no matter how he feels today. When your tool box is full of the proper tools you have the power to ride that empowers you every time you ride your horse.
    Learning should never stop.

Letting horses buck is the fastest way to get a horse in to the killpen. Most people are going to be to afraid to tolerate a bucking horse.
It was a good decision for these people to discipline this horse.

GOOD JOB YOUNG LADY! QUICK REFLEX TO STOP THAT BUCK. SHE WAS WRONG TO BE KICKING WITH BOTH LEGS WHILE DISENGAGEING THE HINDQUARTERS. DEFINITELY RAKE THAT SPUR ON ONE SIDE ONLY WHEN THE THEY ARE CROSSOVER IN THE HINDLEG. Susan
