Komal kaaya ki moh maya
(Komal-soft, kaaya - body, moh maya - illusion/mysterious
My soft skin is enchanting)
Punava chandana nhale

I have worn the shimmer of rubies.
Hee natali thatali

Mee youvan bijli

Apsara aali Indrapuri tun khaali

Here comes the nymph, straight from the heavens
Pasarli laali ratnaprabha tanu nyaali
Her presence has lit up the earth
Ti hasali gaali chandani rang mahaali
Her moonlit smile has brightened the stage
Apsara aali Punava chandana nhali
Here comes the nymph bathed in moonlight
Chhabidaar surat dekhani, janu hirkani, naar gulzar
My face is so beautiful, I’m a priceless diamond, I’m a rose in full bloom.
saangate umar kanchuki bhapudi mukhi
My blouse (kanchuki), the silent sufferer
sosate bhaar
complains about the heavy burden it has to bear
shelati khunaavi kati
my tiny waistline beckons you
tashi hanuvati, nayan talwar
as does my chin, and my lethal eyes
hee rati madu bharli, daji
she’s the intoxicating goddess of love, dear sir

As a bengali I thought the marathi lyrics would be difficult to understand but when I searched the lyrics I found some similar bengali words like komal (কোমল) -soft, kaaya (কায়া)- skin, chandana (চন্দ্র)- moon, Sonyaat (সোনায়)- with gold, sajali (সাজানো) - decorated, rupyaat (রুপোয়) -with silver, bhijali (ভিজানো)- soaked, Ratnaprabha (রত্নপ্রভা), bijli (বিজলী)- thunder, Indrasabha (ইন্দ্রসভা)- the court of Indra, Apsara (অপ্সরা), aali (এলো) - come, Indrapuri (ইন্দ্রপুরী)- heaven,
and many other.
It proves that we all are connected. ❤
Very nice 👌👌👏👏
Dada is another common words. You people say, Ami and we say, Amhi.
Marathi nd bengali have their origin in Prakrit, the language of common people during Buddhist nd Jain period
Prakrit derives its origin in turn from Sanskrit which was most prominent during Vedic period

Exceptions are in all community.. What is so diamond like about marathi

@Roh Malik you are no one to give credit ONLY to marathas for saving hindus. Sikhs are also one reason that hindus exist in Northern India. Most of punjab at that time was muslim and and the whole Northern India would completely have become muslim if sikhs were not there.

This song proved you don't have to know the language to be mesmerized by one song. I can't understand a single word of this song being a bengali but everytime I listened it's mesmerizing ❤❤
What an acting by Atul Kulkarni! Absolutely perfect as if he poured down his whole soul in this creativity!
I never understood why such masterpiece movies dint nominated for Oscars? May be this movies are above those awards..unbelievable
Oscar is not the measure of best. Also in oscar too lot of politics happened behind the scenes.
@Quota matlab Chinese quality it's mediocre
Kyunki ese award kachra hote hain or kachre ko hi diye jate hain masterpieces ko nahi
Oscars seriously 😂
Oscar is Western Award.
Bollywood does't deserve ajay-atul. They are great magician(musician). This song proves it.

JUST CHECK SAAVARKHED EK GAON, CHECKMATE, NATRANG, MAULI AND SEVERAL OTHER ALBUMS.
YOU'LL REALIZE THE REAL MUSIC TALENT THEN.
EDIT :
POPULARITY ALONE CAN NEVER DECIDE THE REAL TALENT. REAL TALENT IS BASED ON LIKING AND APPRECIATION OF PEOPLE, NOT MONEY AND POPULARITY ALONE.

It's a song about a 'Apsara', a dance artist or angel sought of who have came from Indraloka (Where Indra lives heaven sought of)
Literal Translation
My soft skin is enchanting
I'm bathed in moonlight,
Bedecked in gold, drenched in silver
I have worn the shimmer of rubies...
I'm dressed up
Looking like moonlight has descended on the stage,
I'm a thunderbolt that has struck the entire court of Indra Here comes the nymph, straight from the heavens
Her presence has lit up the earth
Her moonlit smile has brightened the stage
Here comes the nymph bathed in moonlight,
My face is so beautiful,
I'm a priceless diamond, I'm a rose in full bloom.
My blouse (kanchuki), the silent sufferer
complains about the heavy burden it has to bear my tiny waistline
beckons you as does my chin, and my lethal eyes
she's the intoxicating goddess of love, dear sir
she's the very spark of passion
the fact that her fragrance has intoxicated the air is the wind's fault, not hers.
I'm dressed up that has struck the entire court of Indra
Here comes the nymph, straight from the heavens
Her presence has lit up the earth
Her moonlit smile has brightened the stage
Here comes the nymph bathed in moonlight...
Some intricacies might be lost in translation.
Of course what Sonalee did with this song is incredible but no one almost never talks about the incredible vocal performance of Bela ji. I mean what an extraordinary voice she possesses, it's almost nothing like I have ever heard before.
The first time I heard her was in Mann Mohana and I loved it. I didn't notice that she sang this too. She's one of the best classical singer in India.
1st Verse- Marathi:
Transliteration & Translation:

Chorus (Marathi):
अप्सरा आली इन्द्रपुरी तुन खाली

Being a bengali, I can say this marathi songs, and their musicality are so attractive too like these one. She is dancing like a goddess, and one of the best postures I've seen in lavani song for films. Lavani draws sensuality, and I think Sonali did it well with her facial expressions too.Beautiful.

Im from punjab and im totally obsessed with this song, thank God bollywood didn't ruined it with another domb remakes like they ruined many punjabi folk songs and unki language hi change krdi bhai inhone. This is piece of art for a poet like myself.❤
Same bro im also from punjab and don't how im hooked to this song
Bollywood only focus on earning money they never respect our tradition and culture. They ruin all floke and regional songs 😔 they think they are superior but they are not.. There is no comparison between our flok and traditional songs and Bollywood songs. Aur flok and traditional songs are infinite time's better than Bollywood songs 👍
Punjabi is more closer to Hindi than Marathi. So it's obvious they use Punjabi wherever it suits them. Moreover Punjabi music industry and history is more big than Marathi. Don't being Bollywood here. If they had any chance, they'd even target this song. It's okay if you appreciate this song, but unnecessary negative is not good.
Every dalal is in bollywood 😢
