I actually had this game for my Gamecube along with Mario Party 7 and I distinctly remember playing this game FAR more than Mario Party. I wouldn't mind a new One piece game with this style again if it was more polished and varied. Might beat Modern Mario Party too if they tried.

I actually played both american and Japan verions of the game with my cousin who also likes MP and OP and yeah we had fun for like 2 afternoons but then just forgave about it even as a big One Piece enjoyers

One Piece Pirates carnival is such a great game. I've played it with friends like three times (dont ask how), and it's so horrible every mini game is so confusing the black beard eating pie mini game is da bomb, though EDIT: CANT FORGET ABOUT ARLONG DARTS BEST MINI GAME!!
It's weird. I've had this game since it came out, and rarely had people to play it with, so I'm verry torn on it.
On the one hand, I'm painfully aware of that lack of balance and only ever being able to really play against the CPU has compacted the issues with certain miini game, be it because of the sense of control (that one with the long long island stilts can actually go fuck itself. Awful), or the general feeling of the AI being cracked.
And yet, it's hard for me to hate this game too. It's a time capsule of One piece's infancy (or adolescence?) from only JUST before things were really getting serious in the main story, and I really adore that more old school, relaxed tone. Plus the very idea of the chaotic cast of one piece participating in the wild and wacky antics of mario party is just such a fun idea.
So yeah, as another one piece fan that's played a decent amount of this game, totally agree with you. Bad, but weirdly charming. Always love seeing coverage for more obscure one piece stuff (especially the games), so appreciate that Carlito.

I really, really, really tried watching one piece. First three arcs were awesome, and then I gave up on episode four hundred or something. I think I just don't like shonen very much aside from hxh and fma brotherhood. I just read every single isekai manga I can find, now.
