We in our 20’s and 30’s got to experience the greatest animation shows in our childhoods. I still remember waking up at 6 or 7 am on weekends to catch the new episodes.
I remember watching this movie in theaters as a kid
Yeah, but the episodes weren't nearly as good animated as this movie. This has crazy levels of fluidity and detail to it.
I couldn't agree more
Those days simply can't be replaced.
@@norwegiantechnolover This shit is like a Ghibli movie compared to the show
Can we talk about the wonderful, organic animation by Mitsuo Iso?
This movie is timeless, and Kari’s voice acting is unforgettable for me.
I like how they talk like saving the world isn’t a burden but it just happens to be that way and it can’t be helped. “Sometimes you gotta to save the world even if you’re the one who caused the problem.”
Love that
She really improved her monotone voice from the show
Kari's voice will forever be ingraved in my mind, especially now that I have young siblings who watch a show called Doc Mcstuffins. Kari's voice actress has a main character in this children's cartoon.
Honestly, I love this animation, even today. It feels more respectful to the original tv series than the Digimon Adventure films that have come out in recent years. Not badmouthing the films in anyway, because they're awesome. I just feel like the animation of this film should've been used for the Digimon Adventure films.
@@nateborie6329 well not many knows, in japan this actually came before the tv series. They're planning to make a full feature movie, but the producer realised this is too good so they turned it into a series. So this one is left as a short.
Holy shiit all theese years and I JUST REALIZED that first Nova flame blasted his Wing off my God the savagery!!
I have literally never noticed that until this comment. Oh my..

Your welcome
NOVA FLAME!!!
Greymon’s pupils dilating along with his voice always gave me chills. I love coming back to rewatch this!
That was when parrotmon knew, HE FUCKED UP.
I can't properly explain just how much this scene stuck with me. The scene where Tai blows the whistle and Greymon opens his eye? It sends actually chills down by back, it's just so perfect. The sound of the whistle combined with the dramatic music will forever be engraved into my memory.
So apparently to wake someone’s inner godlike power is to blast a whistle into their ear when a villain is approaching? 😂😂
if there is any core memory for me, it's this scene
I feel you man, I've always thought the same
It’s such an awesome scene to to anyone else with no major knowledge it’s just a big dinosaur beating a giant parrot monster but for Digimon fans Greymon nuked an Ultimate level digimon a digimon who’s power level is one level higher than Greymon it’s so awesome
Get chills every time I hear I’m Greymon now
Likewise
SAME
Facts!
And i'am iron man
I always get that chills down my spine from that line!
We deserve a show with this level of animation and in this style. The anatomical accuracies of this Greymon are awesome.
Absolutely. The designs of all the second evolutions, heck just all of the monsters looks so well done this way
It’d be extremely expensive and take forever. That’s why they save it for theatrical releases that are only around an hour and 30 minutes.
@@normalguy5157 that animation is like 20 years old.
@@MrYutbe57 The year it released doesn’t mean anything when it’s hand drawn. It’s still extremely expensive and time consuming. Plus it’d have to be done for an entire show. 12 episodes alone would be almost 5 hour of this level of animation. Now imagine 50-100. It could easily take a decade.
@@normalguy5157 that's... Actually a good point. I conceed the argument. Today though I feel like an AI assisted project might be possible to mimic the art style. IDK be cool though!
I'm 28 now and this scene still gets me really riled up, and I've always tried to understand why it's so appealing.
The effects and high contrast in the animation make this scene come to life in real time, and viscerally shows the emotions and power of these monsters. Your mind tricks you into thinking your body is being shaken around like a ragdoll as these monsters move, and this makes them appear much more intimidating.
Sometimes not even the Monsterverse can achieve this effect in their cinematography, because the cameraman is often made immune to the real-world shockwaves and vibrations generated when kaijus move. That unfortunately puts immersive distance between the viewer and what's on the screen. This scene by contrast breaks down that distance almost entirely.
And this is still a Champion vs. an Ultimate. Not an impossible fight, but still says something about how much energy that Greymon was soaking up.
@Kadr Ladus Probably because this greymon has a partner. They say digimon with tamers are usually more powerful than their wild counterparts.
Because Digimon with human partners are exponentially stronger then their average species. This is a confirmed thing. Also Greymon was getting energy from both Taichi and Hikari and Hikari is the main thing here. Botamon became Koromon then Agumon then Greymon so fast, because Hikari's trait has the same meaning as Evolution for the Digital World and is also the embodiment of Life and Existence. And most importantly it's the supreme concept that rules over the Digital World and all other traits(Courage,Friendship,Purity,Sincerity,Love,Knowledge) are emanated from. It's Light wich was compared by Homeostasis to the power of life itself.
My favorite part is always the whistle. Chills man
Funny how as a kid I thought that was badass
AndreNitro X1000 tbh I still think it’s badass

The fact that that whistle blow still had an impact in diaboromons revenge makes it even better

Yup. Saw this when I was 11 too- and after my mom saw how much I loved it and even let me go to Toys R Us and pick out my own digimon. Idk why, but I picked Parrotmon and my friend picked Greymon and we recreated this scene on the ride back from town. What a time to be alive!

When champion level greymon takes on ultimate level parrotmon... what a beast!
Because power of friend ship and all that bullshit. Fucker breathes fire I'm rooting for him regardless of rank lol
@@somerandomuser3395 Not really. This greymon is far stronger than his reincarnation. Even his flames are different. Size and power wise his leagues above his adventure self.
@@zeoz911 yes......but I'll be 100% honest I'm biased simply because he looks cool and was my childhood favourite
He might have been more powerful at this moment compared to when he was reborn as the Agumon we know in Adventure because back then he got energy from both Kari and Tai compared to when he meet everyone again and was just Tai's partner. I wouldn't say that he necessarily is stronger then his reborn self I mean sure his past self beat a ultimate level Digimon as Greymon on his own but after the rebirth he was able to digivolve alot further and higher and remember he fought and stood his own several times against Digimon that were a level above him like his fight against infermon who literally was one level above what he was suppose to digivolve to. He also fought venommyotismon along side gabumon and the two became the only megas of the group but before that they were doing pretty good against him compared to the others.
@@KazukoLight yea thatsbtrue but I think everyone forget that having a partner give digimon a HUGE boost in potential
I literally cry of happiness. I just love digimon
Me too man me too
Without a doubt the most iconic fight scene in Digimon the movie considering that it was the first fight to appear in the movie. Add to the fact that it shows Greymon fighting Parrotmon makes this fight scene even more iconic and unforgettable.
- Episode 2: Greymon beats Shellmon.
- Episode 20: MetalGreymon beats Etemon.

There's nothing more powerful than a digimon with someone to protect
All I can think about is how epic this scene was when I was little because we finally got to see the full story of why they were chosen and because even back then before they were officially partners Tai and Agumon had such a good bond and friendship and Tri finally confirmed that Tai's Agumon was indeed the same one who hatched and started the whole journey for the kids to save the digiworld. When Tai told Agumon in Tri that he liked all kinds of food and he didn't know of any he disliked followed by saying he knew him better then himself he was literally did because Tai knew Agumon back when Tai was a young child and from his elementary years onward and watched Agumon eat cat food. 🤣🤣🤣
Kudos to Kari’s voice actor, that crying was top tier.
I just learned today that the voice actor for Greymon was Bryce Papenbrook’s dad. His passing was what inspired Bryce to begin voice acting..
Bryce started in VO very young. In fact, Bob tend to recommend him when they need a kid for looping scenes. Bryce specifically stated he will continue his life doing it to honor his dad.
@@christopherhollow4906and now his son is going to voice greymon in the redub, full circle....
@@Clonetos Yes, super fun and personal for Bryce himself.
What I get chills from besides just the sheer brutality of Greymon vs. Parrotmon is just the fact it is very reminiscent of a Kaiju battle in Godzilla movies, and how even as a Champion Level, Koromon Greymon holds the line against Parrotmon, an Ultimate Level, even as they wreck a lot of Hikarigaoka in the process too, and just how it has to be too for Tai and Kari to be front and center, with Kari wanting to help Greymon while Tai is just trying to also keep his sister safe and taking over for the exhausted Kari when he uses her whistle to call to Greymon to give him that last spurt he needed to defeat and delete Parrotmon.
I think some stuffs been cut. Greymon stabbed his horn trough parrotmons beak.

only after growing up do i realize how strong this greymon had been.
Greymon is a champion but parrotmon was ultimate
I thought about this earlier and thought: was this Greymon like, a wild one? It may be much larger and powerful than Tai's actual Greymon due to it not belonging to him or something? How does it work?

Tai: "Koromon?"

Never in my life have I ever gotten more chills in such an epic moment in an anime as a kid. Seeing Tai absolutely terrified by Agumon becoming Greymon in that moment gets me every time. We all know that this isn't the same Greymon we all know and love, but a different one that was sent to the real world, but still, seeing Greymon that big and vicious was something truly amazing as a kid. And Kari was amazing even as a kid. Brave as hell, and with a heart of gold. No wonder she received the Talisman of Light. Because she brought light to an almost impossible moment, and it was Tai's courage that got Greymon back on his feet and able to erupt one last massive Nova Flame blast and it was epic in every way.
Wait what this isn't the augumon that tai later goes to meet when they get transported to the digital world for the first time?
I believe the movie Agumon is the Alpha the first of his kind all others based off his original code.
The Alpha digimon are typically the strongest.
Apparently this Greymon was sent back to the digital world and remembered his experiences and expressed a desire to say hello to those two kids.
I could cry, seeing this old digimon scenes. Better animated than new animes. Has his own touch.
1999: Yeah, yeah.
2021: No.
That scene give me chills and brings back so much nostalgia. Makes you realize the true meaning of life.
It wasnt until I was an adult to find out that Parrotmon was an Ultimate level digimon.

Love how they all remembered this fight later down the road. Im trying to remember where everyone was like joe and izzy.
This was our king of the monsters back in the day
The nova flame looks so impactful, just dooope

Be honest. If you grew up with this movie, you say it with as much force and might as Greymon. I certainly do after so much time.
Still a great movie
Brings tears to my eyes the nostalgia is real
Amen
You know what makes this so great?
Greymon's a Champion.
Parrotmon's an Ultimate.
AND HE STILL KILLED HIS ASS.
I also love how Greymon stands like an actual Theropod dinosaur instead of Upright
That always gets me. It shows just how powerful Greymon really is. For a single champion to take down an ultimate is insane.
@Kalu Laitala Then there's the fact that he'd only just hatched.
@@FeliDJrah That's because of Taichi and Hikari. Digimon that are partnered with humans are stronger than wild digimon. That goes double since Hikari made Koromon evolve on an abnormal rate. Hikari's crest holds the same meaning as light/evolution in the digital world and all the qualities of other crest's are simply by-products of that aspect.
Greymon's are totally badass.
When I see this clip I’m a 10 year old boy again…
Idk how to explain the impact of this moment to anyone who wasn’t into digimon and part of the target demographic when they saw it
I always come back to this scene over the years, the raw destruction between Greymon and Parrotmon, the kick ass accompanying BGM, the sheer size of these two going at it. It's what gives me that thrill during Kaiju movies, and while they may not be as large as a Toho Kaiju, the stakes are just as high. The Digimon EN theme and Going Digital accompanied by Greymon's "I'M GREYMON NOW..." and "NOVA FLAME" is unrivaled.
Reasons to love Digimon
Reason 1: Where else can you watch a fire breathing t-rex fight a giant parrot to classic 90's rock in the middle of Tokyo?
Reason 2: No other reason is needed.
This shit was my childhood, watched this movie on VHS so many times I couldn't count. Love the godzilla vibes.
Am I the only one who literally jumped up and down when the digimon theme started up and chanted "Kick his butt, Kick his butt" until 1:07?
Followed by the next scene inspiring "Oh, you've done it now you oversized pigeon!"
Leave it to Japan when you give Digimon a budget in animation they turn a minor fight between 2 champions into a frickin KAIJU fight scene and this is the time the American theme literately sounds badass as it escalates.
Like the digiedestined kids this fight changed my life as a kid too!
I love the little detail of Greymon using his Nova Flame to destroy one of Parrotmon's wings so it can't take the high ground.
I’m gonna cry this is so nostalgic 🥹
1:00 You can see his horn lodged into Parrotmon's beak, they couldn't cut it out entirely. Literally one frame.
That moment you realize when greymon used his nova flame the last time he was put his own life force into the blast to increase the power
I always wondered why he disappeared
@@life-n-death4593 yea when youve dug into the lore of the entire series as I have you learn alot this greymon who its actually been confirmed that eventually became the agumon we know and love wanted to protect his tamers so much he was turning his own life force into energy to make the attack strong enough he might have even been able to beat a low tier mega unfortunately we'll never know

The amazing animation of this scene has stuck with me ever since I was a kid... I don't think I've seen anything as smooth as this since. Sure there were awesome fight scenes of humans fighting, but I think what makes this scene great is that it's the smooth animation and movement of a creature we can only picture or imagine.
In the ending credits for the movie it said this Greymon was called Red Greymon and if no believes me if they have the video or the d.v.d. of this movie look at the ending credits when it gets to the character names and the cast who voiced them and you'll see it.
It’s still the same Greymon from the tv series
@@jaylenhioe2868 Actually it's not the same Greymon the Greymon we all saw in the show was given to Tai by the beings including Genai who chose Tai and the others to be the digidestined before Davis and his group and don't forget during the show when they went up against Etemon after Tai got his crest another Greymon showed up under Etemon's control and if anyone remembers that was when Tai forced Greymon to digivolve only it didn't go exactly to plan as Greymon did digivolve only not into MetalGreymon he digivolved into SkullGreymon.
