  • Talking points: relationships, culture
Let me start off by making one thing clear: this isn't problematic. But some other things are happening in tandem that I haven't heard any major outlet talk about. That itself is an issue. Listen in.
    (00:00:00) - Intro and stats
    (00:01:55) - What I find fascinating
(00:03:39) - This is something we ALL should be having dialogue about
(00:07:28) - Why authentic equality is really important
(00:10:26) - Again, NOT saying this is wrong, but what are we creating further down the line?
(00:11:40) - You can already see some consequences in the data

As a man, I absolutely don’t mind women going to work, out earning me. I will happily enjoy more time off, concentrating on projects, children, being less in the rat race of corporate politics, BUT….
As you’ve clearly mentioned, the fundamental problem is that women still haven’t changed their standards for men and mainstream media will not talk about this. That’s because it doesn’t benefit them. Men raising an opinion about how something affects them is seen as a direct distraction from women empowerment and problems.
Thank you for at least bringing this out and talking about this. Women who dismiss you despite how clearly and gently you put this are the problem of society today.

Right, the common response is that men are too insecure to date someone who makes more than them. And while it may be off putting for guys, the women aren’t exactly doing their part either. Women still want men to earn more, so the only solution I can see is that women try to value things other than finances or everyone just stays single

Women making money isn’t the problem. Women making money due to government subsisidies/mandates, and educational policies that cater specifically and only to women who then hold men to archaic standards are the problem. We’ve created our own mouse utopia. Our own Athens. Our own late Rome.

I personally want to hear more of a deeper dive into the data. Discrimination on the basis of sex--paying different rates for the same position--is illegal and doesn't really account for the numbers. The prior pay gap when women were earning less could be attributed largely to women making choices that would pay less: working more part time, leaving the work force for maternity, etc. Now what creates the reverse? Is it that more young men are living more with their parents and getting part-time or minimum wage jobs? Is the new education gap already translating into wage gap? Does this shift or flip across age demographics? The breakdown is important. This may be innocent or may be an indication of a deep systematic and illegal discrimination on the basis of sex against men. Equal protection under the law goes both ways.

"You have university and college institutions that, I think, a lot of men look at as anti-male. As not welcoming for men." I sincerely don't know what this means or why it is. Yes, there is now greater awareness of the 'bad guys' on campuses, the students who target women, and thank God for that. There's awareness of bad behavior within a lot of fraternities. But I'm not sure why anyone would consider college anti-male. Men take on a lot of the leadership roles on campus. I've only seen male and female students work well together on class projects. And of course, everyone has female and male friends. There are 3 reasons I think men are turning away from college. 1) Men hear about the crackdown on the male students who are being held accountable for legitimate crimes on campus and they feel a defensiveness or uneasiness about it because of their shared identity with other men. 2) Men see that the number of women exceed the number of men on college campuses and now associate college with women, and therefore devalue it because -- if they're being honest -- they devalue anything associated with women. Take knitting for example. To a lot of guys, anything that's majority-women is considered a 'women's thing' and must be avoided at all costs to maintain self-esteem. 3) Many students on college campuses aren't into the restrictions of gender roles, society's script you're supposed to follow as a woman or man, and some men don't like that because they gain benefits from gender roles (that are, mind you, typically at the detriment of women and some men who don't fit the male archetype). Anything else?

Well the influx of immigrants fo replace men not it the workforce is going to be a problem for men who are blue collar. It's not the flex you think it is. The powers that be really dont want you to have bargaining power thats why women are in the workforce, it reduces men's pay

  • @future62

This is an interesting take but I'm not sure I fully agree. Men and specifically boys are falling behind in education and earning, and that's a problem that kind of starts early. But women marrying/dating up is a story as old as time. Women mature faster than men and older men have always had more of the resources women wanted. I'm older than my wife, my wife's stepdad is older than her mom, my dad is older than my mom. Def some food for thought even if I don't fully agree, thanks for the video.

I can appreciate you trying to discuss this topic in a way that women can hear. But all the concessions before saying half truths tells men you dont understand the full extent of the problem or you arent communicating it.
"It's not bad or wrong." Sure it is. I dont know why we cognitively load ourselves so much to avoid talking about outcomes. Outcomes matter. Our outcomes now and in the future are awful.
Reality is, if left unchecked this is the kind of thing that can collapse society completely. Women cannot and will not do the physical/dangerous work men do. If men continue to check out, stop going to college/trade schools etc., society as we know it will cease to exist. This is not sustainable for any society over a half century. We are already at a % threshold of disaffected young men that would have collapsed empires in the past and the only thing that has slowed that possibility is porn and video games.

  • @reeddillingham2401
    @reeddillingham2401 Před 6 měsíci +1

Like a number of others, you note decline in the numbers of men getting college degrees. When this phenomenon is coupled with the effects of hypergamy, there will be a long term decline in marriages and birth rates. This pattern is also effecting many other countries, most notably China (as seen in recent news stories). South Korea is an even more extreme example with the birthrate somewhere around 0.8 per woman. The problem with this is that this will create a long term deficit of younger workers that will support an older population thru social security. These are long term trends and difficult to change rapidly in the short term. This situation will require all workers to be much more cognizant of the need to save for old age.

It feels increasingly bizarre to me how quickly people will become uncomfortable or even hostile when issues affecting men are raised. Even simply pointing out the fact of men getting fewer degrees from universities, without drawing any conclusions or judgements from this fact, is enough to raise the alarm bells in many people's heads about your intentions or values, almost as though you've started some racist, bigoted rant about "white's rights."

My concern with the current trend is that with less men attending universities, we have a lot of less STEM graduates, since men naturally gravitate towards STEM programs. What will the future of the country look like when we can no longer compete in the high technology field, simply due to the fact that there isn't enough people doing the work?

Wait... I'm confused... so what's all the hoopla about unequal pay from women? I honestly think another big factor is many people (depending on the degree) aren't getting jobs in their field they went to college for. Many people I went to school with, when i was in my mid to late 20s that had degrees couldn't get jobs in their respective fields, were volunteering, or had a minimum wage job like I had in highschool (at a chinese resturant). Men are by nature problem solvers and maybe don't think that college will get them the results they want and maybe this is also a factor. I am still watching the video so maybe I'm off the mark.😅 Just my observation.😇

Both sides need to adapt because of modern times. Woman want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to keep all their normal dating standards including new ones from the modern Era and then expect men to just " rise to the occasion" mem should be better no one says that's not a good thing. But what's not a good thing is women not adjusting their typical standards for men. I don't even like saying it that way because it makes men sound like less of a person. The things that men always wanted from women throughout all time, women now give men less of those things and swapped them with finacial income. Most men don't care about that at all. It's like the yin and the yang are out of whack because the modern Era gave women a way out of being traditional women. And just like a kid in the cookie jar they've gotten a taste of it and now don't want to leave it. Women are so worried about the choices they have now that they don't even bother to see if they're making the right ones
