Just ripped the seats out of My 97. The floor is mostly solid. Just need to scab in a 3” by 6” piece around where the brake cable goes through the floor and above the front cab mount. Their just rust holes so I’ve already wire wheeled the rust off the floor, using phosphoric acid to remove and convert the rusty metal then using por 15 phosphoric acid with zinc phosphate. Then going to paint the floor with Por 15 gloss black. Not gonna put the flooring back in. If it’s a little louder it will make Me happy. The floor just holds moisture.
I just tried that tack, cut, tack, cut technique on my firewall filler panel and had excessive gaps where I used the cutoff wheel. Ended up getting started with the cutoff wheel and then went around riding the edge of the filler panel with my body saw. The width of the saw blade made for much tighter gaps that were easier to weld.
That is a lot of work and there's a good chance the cab mounts are getting soft. Maybe see about finding a good southern cab and just do a swap. Thanks for watching much appreciated.
Love the videos! Quick question for ya! Part of my floor pan is rotted, cab mounts completely rotted, rocker panels non existent ( inner &outer). When it comes to welding new panels in, what do I start fixing first? If I cut everything out at once, then theres no way of referencing where anything lines up...yet all these parts need to be connected.. Thanks
Sounds like you need to source another cab. But if you have proper replacement mounts I would start there. You can weld in X braces if needed to stabilize things so they don't move.
I got the pan from my local body and paint supply store Baseline Fender. They stock the most common replacement panels for most makes. Thank for watching.
Sure i'm glad I watched this before buying any patch panels. I think an old sign and some rivots will work just fine.
Parts aren't cheap so whatever works. Thanks for watching.
@swc-diygarage not the reason. It's too much work for something that's going to rust out again when you live in the rust belt.
@@moparfreak1969 totally understand.
Looking good...I'll be doing some floor pans pretty soon myself.
Thanks SprayWay. I'm not getting very many views on this video set but I'm enjoying doing something for myself.

Sound like a good plan. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That's about the same as my 96 ram. But I'm going to replace the entire floor pan. This guy does good videos.
@@kensendlosky7438 Thanks. Appreciate it
@@kensendlosky7438 same with my 97

Yes it's a bit tricky to keep the cutting wheel on a 45 but if you can the 2 piece fit inside each other with no gap.
looks like you and i have holes in the exact same spot, now i know what i'm getting into!
Ya it's a really common problem. Thanks for watching.
This truck is hit as bad as mine , same spot too. I have the new panels but being my only driver it’s a struggle to park it for more than a day
I totally understand. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated.
So glad i live in New Mexico

Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated.
I have a 1998 dodge ram that I need to fix the entire floor and rocker panel but my parents say it's a waste but it has too much sentimental value

Do you have a link for the floor pan?
No I don't unfortunately. It was purchased at my local body supply store.
Nice job! Where did you order the floor pan?

My local body supply store. Thanks for watching much appreciated.
what causes this?
Moisture trapped between the metal floor and the carpet.
