  • 3 Meals in ARUBA for $20? Is this possible? On this day I was up for the challenge to find 3 spots where you can eat pretty good meals while on a tight budget. It was one of the most fun I had filming because it was more of a challenge then I expected, especially when I only had Awg.12,-
    left for my dinner!

      Thank you too Jim :-) So true, there are other choices and ways to go around it. This wasn't even the lowest but the intention of the video wasn't for me to starve from hunger ;-) but rather show more or less how much $20 can get you in a day. Thanks again for watching!

    Looks like El Chalan and The Kitchen will be on my lunch itinerary when in the downtown area. Yes, Aruba can be expensive but I spend less the more I visit due to spots like the ones you recommend. If people opted more to Air BnB accommodations and did a little bit of food shopping, their expenses will be cut in half.

    When I praise Aruba to friends or anyone who will listen, I always add " but eating is expensive ".These are good low priced places to eat but the taxi fare to reach them may cancel the savings . The people I travel with like to eat well and I've learned to expect to spend fifty dollars for dinner. Granted, I'd pay the same for meals at the same quality restaurants at home but I don't eat out every night at home. The difference ? Being in Aruba, priceless !

    • @LetsgowithHyro
      @LetsgowithHyro  Před 3 lety +1

      True Paul, taxis will unfortunately remain very expensive. These are good options if you have your own car (rental) or are staying within a walking distance from them.
      Good & larger portion meals can indeed be very expensive here. I do hope with this video to have shown some of you that there may be other nice & economical options should anyone prefers so. Thanks again for watching :-)

    Im here now and have shopped at that supermarket. Do some shopping there, though you will pay much more for items than back home in the U.S. , but you will be able to eat for a week vs just one day. Spent about $60 on breakfast and lunch items to last 7 days for 2 people. Which now just leaves dinner. Which my beautiful wife and I decided to treat ourselves to. Many places by the beach on or across the street to enjoy a candlelight dinner outside. Very romantic.
    Of course you can always do shopping for dinner as well and cook the food yourself if you want to cut expenses even more. We always stay at resorts with kitchens that are already equipped and have all the usual items needed for cooking and eating.

    • @LetsgowithHyro
      @LetsgowithHyro  Před 2 lety

      Hello Rio G, good way of putting it! I agree that if you want to cut cost even more, the best is to go grocery shopping. While on the expensive side, Superfood offers a very nice variety of high quality products, especially from Holland. I think the way you are doing it is very nice, maybe with an occasional breakfast or lunch somewhere. Thanks for your input!

    Thanks for the tips. I am travelling to Aruba next month, November and will stay there for a week. And will certainly try to follow your tips, if I can. Usually when I am on vacation, I eat anything I like to eat, regardless of the price. Sometimes, it shocks me both ways.. that I spend so much for food, and many times, I spend too less than I expected. But again, thanks for your tips. I appreciate it.

      Thank you for your comment Rodney! I certainly understand your point about not worrying of (perhaps) overspending on food, normally I am like that too. Since Aruba has a reputation for being expensive I used that motivation for this particular video to show that you could possibly for for a much lower budget and still eat very nicely and not starve LOL. I wish you a safe & great trip!

    Yeah, that's all I hear. As soon as I mention Aruba, the first thing I hear is that restaraunts and everything is expensive. Well, yeah, if you don't normally live in SF, NY, or DC. I mean a cocktail on the beach is $15, but that's the same as the my favorite dive bar in DC. Now, I just tell people that Aruba is like South Florida without the crime. Which is true. Also, so many DC, NY, and SF restaurants, expensive and cheap, and especially McDonald's, have panhandlers and beggars bothering you going in and coming out. None of that in Aruba. So many dirty and agressive homeless people bothering people in American big cities. Not in Aruba. Aruba is clean and crime-free. The way South Florida should be.

      That’s the way it has always been done. Mostly high school kids earning some spending money. They pack and carry your grocery bags and you give them a tip. If you don’t want to pay, you tell them you’ll do it yourself and they leave you alone. No problems here.
