Instead of getting inside he kept trying to stay out of Wilders range, which ended up putting him right at the end of Wilders punches where he hits the hardest. But it's a slow backward creep he likes to do, with minor adjustments to his wide stance feet, always trying to time a jump forward with the straight right when an opponent comes after him carelessly. What he can't do is fight going backwards quickly. When he can't just adjust his feet backwards, and instead has to take steps, it suddenly looks very disorganised.

Wilder actually prefers to fight going backwards. But it's a slow backward creep he likes to do, with minor adjustments to his wide stance feet, always trying to time a jump forward with the straight right when an opponent comes after him carelessly. What he can't do is fight going backwards quickly. When he can't just adjust his feet backwards, and instead has to take steps, it suddenly looks very disorganised.
