      Diamonds are non renewable which are perfect fot servers as currency and considering in single player they are almost worthless due to the large dangerous caves and the strip mining being a chore, you woulf rather buy diamond tools and armor from villagers, they are much easier if you love enslaving villagers, diamonds arent worth the hassle anymore unless you want to upgrade to netherite or just want an enchanting table or jukeboxes, i personally just buy diamond tools and armor instead now due to understsnding how villager trading works also building multiple farms which let me trade for emeralds.

    Diamond need to be more usable, in terms of crafting usage, diamond is less useful than iron. Diamonds are primarily used to make diamond tools and armor, which are the strongest and most durable tools and armor in the game (netherite is just a upgrade that make more stronger). However, these items are not necessary for most gameplay and can be replaced with iron tools and armor, which are more easily obtainable and still provide adequate protection and efficiency. Iron is also used to make a wider variety of items such as rails, minecarts, and buckets. Additionally, diamonds can be used to make certain enchanting items, but iron can also be used to make anvils, which are essential for enchanting items.

      1. Diamonds are not the strongest material, the strongest material is netherite which does use diamonds but still is considered another ore

As a new player you’d have to travel untouched terrain for thousands of blocks on foot because they probably are gate keeping flight as well. Also people can use seed maps to not miss a single one. I think something that would make some sense lore wise is to still require you to go to bastions, but functional as a different thing completely. One thing that’s always bugged me is that this infernal metal that is completely fire proof and immune to molten rock can be smelted in your furnace and crafted on gold.
    My idea is to scrap the netherite upgrade and make it so rarely in bastions you can find an internal forge, like a blast furnace but with textures of ancient debris that only Piglins know how to make. You would have to fill it with lava and fuel it with blaze powder to turn scraps(now directly dropped from debris) into netherite after adding gold. Then the same tough smelting process would be needed to coat your armor with netherite.
    This would need a very large amount of blaze powder, giving it more use, and additionally the intense heat would have a small chance to cause an explosion, which doesn’t break blocks or itself, but can cause a lot of damage and burn your house if you’re not careful, which adds more character to the process as you’ll ideally build like a forge area for it.

    I would say that the main problem with the netherite template is in servers that have a smaller world boarder. If one or two players get all of the available templates then no one else can make netherite themselves.

  • @humourlessjester3584
    @humourlessjester3584 Před rokem +128

    For the armorr trim templates I see the recipe's lore as the diamonds being the carving tool to etch out the place where those materials should be lined up and the material block in the center as the cast's back board, as if the player is pressing the templates' pattern into the material for new material to be added. This could imply that netherite is being stuck as a layer on top the diamond armor, attached in plates (maybe by rivets) as shown by the texture, instead of being infused to the diamond armor itself. So the netherite upgrade is merely an item that punches holes into your diamond armor for a layer of netherite plating to be riveted on top. Maybe the netherite provides shock absorbption and heat resistance to the armor but it has little to no hardness by itself which is why it needs the diamond armor as a base and it only adds less than 50 additional durability. My only proof of this theory is that netherite armor has plates but diamond does not so it doesn't make sense for it to be infused and change into something plated unless the plating goes on top of the armor rather than netherite infused into it.

    The crafting system as a whole needs a revamp.
    Imagine a Smithing Table designed around discovering blueprints for various upgrades to your equipment; the blueprints themselves are never consumed, but provide a step-by-step guide on what materials to add to an item via the smithing table in order to get the upgrade.
    For netherite armor, you'd need to:
    Find the blueprints
    Go to a smithing table with the armor and blueprints
    Apply diamonds (equal to the amount used to make the diamond item)
    Apply magma cream
    Apply netherite ingot
    And done.
    It'd even be able to support more upgrades.
    Want water breathing? Use glass, slime, and turtle scutes.
    Want the effects of leather armor in snow on normal armor? Use wool, string, and leather.
    Want a basic buff? Use string, iron nuggets, and chainmail armor.

    Star dust is actually a nice idea. This item would help the game overall. For example, it could be used in brewing, for, I don't know, luck potions (for those who don't know, that effect exists in Java minecraft, but is unused), maybe it could be used to duplicate armor trims, as diamonds are relatively cheap, or for crafting end crystals (again, if you don't know, they can be crafted, but I think the recipe is too cheap). It could also used for removing curses from items (It would probably use like 10 levels and have a like 50% chance to destroy the item and turn into something, probably, glowstone instead removing the curse, as that would be too owerpowered), but while removing the curse, it will get cursed itself and turn into a completely new item, that again, could be used for potions such as blindness (that would probably be an overhaul to PvP). I might have gone too far, but it could also be used to make glowing armor trims, as it makes more sense than a glow ink sac or to craft experience bottles. Also, but as grindstones were kinda forgotten since 1.14, it would be cool if you could craft a nether star into dust with a grindstone instead of a crafting table, as you can't craft it back, unlike most (yes, sugar, I know) powders.

      surelly, it was a great idea! adding 5, 10, 20 more hours of mind numbing grind in order to upgrade one single tool. You would previously have been fully stacked with netherite at that point. All the time it takes you to run through thousands of blocks in the nether, trying to find a bastion with the upgrade on it, and then farming about 60 more diamonds to be fully maxed. It's just a way to artificially increase the effort you need to get a netherite tool. I also feel like netherite just isn’t endgame. Endgame for me personally is stuff like shulkers and elytra. They are locked behind the end boss. The armor customization is cool, but needing extra items to upgrade to netherite just doesn’t feel right. One thing I would love to see implemented is an endgame armor post dragon, using something like cosmic debris found in the outer end islands and dragon scales that are dropped from the dragon or found near fossil structures buried in the end islands. This would be more end game and give the barren end wasteland more of a purpose and more of a resource gathering role. Also cosmic debris should be used to upgrade the elytra for more durability and like a half of an armor unit of defense. Dragon scale gear would be cool as heck.
    Edit: Cosmic debris is found and smelted to refined cosmic scraps. They are then combined with dragon scales dropped by the dragon or found rarely near cosmic debris deposits. The final product is a dragon scale alloy, which is combined with netherite for dragon scale gear.

      I've had this idea for a new endgame end resource for armor crafting for awhile now. Imagine the mechanics of the void in the end are reworked. Instead of a set amount of tick damage at a certain negative y level, you instead get increasing blindness (like when the warden spawns) and increasing tick damage the further down you go. Then, put small islands at varying levels just below this damage threshold, with islands lower down (more dangerous) having a higher chance of spawning the ore. This way, getting the resource would be a genuine challenge for endgame players, requiring significant potion prep to survive in the void whilst mining the resource. Make the resource require netherite to mine as well and make it take about as long as obsidian to keep things stressful. Also, doing this would make the elytra a must to land and leave the islands quickly, though im sure more skilled players could find other ways. Maybe make this resource craft armor when combined with dragon scales as you suggest and also have some kind of tool that can be crafted as well. I would imagine some kind of unique effect on these tools and armor, similar to how netherite cannot be burnt. 100% make the helmet give you immunity to enderman, but that isnt strong enough. I think the coolest possible feature of this new armor would be a pair of wings with armor attached. Give it the appearance of dragon wings since scales are used in the recipe and make it require an elytra to craft.

    It'd be the "Magmatic Glue" (not really cool name, but I'm too lazy to find a better name).
    You would find the Ancient Glue (to continue with the "ancient" part of the netherite) in bastions, but it wouldn't work as a bonder yet.
    You would have to combine it with 4 blaze rods in the corners (we know these work as fuel, and blazes are fire resistant, so it'd make sense) and 4 magma cream around the Ancient Glue (again, the magma cubes are fire resistant, and the magma cream is used for fire resistance potions).
    After that you would be able to use the Magmatic Glue as a bonder for upgrading diamond to netherite gear)

      Why netherite would need a buff being that easy to get?, it would ruin the game, you get diamond armor in nothing and then you go to the nether and 10 minutes later you would have full netheriute and you would kill rapidly the ender dragon and then you quit the game, and start a new one

  • @lasercraft32
    @lasercraft32 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Yeah honestly... Multiplayer servers are usually limited in size with a world border to prevent the server from running out of space and crashing, so its SERIOUSLY a problem in multiplayer. Especially for rare items like the Silence trim where its so rare its all too easy to get a monopoly on it. It CAN be duplicated... but that doesn't mean they will. And even then its really expensive. With the Netherite Upgrade especially it can become super rare if players decide not to share, so you'd have to travel hundreds of blocks just to find a new bastion to raid (and some people are really dedicated and will searched for hours looting every structure they can find before anyone else...).
    As for its uniqueness... I don't think its a problem that its different from regular trim templates. Its supposed to be special, and it opens up more options for other kinds of upgrades later on. Netherite is already basically just Diamond but with an extra bonus effect (knockback resistance and burn immunity) I would love if they had other rare upgrades for other things like increased speed or attack or whatever... so instead of Netherite being the definitive highest tier, there are multiple options that are all equally good.

For netherite this means you need more diamonds to also upgrade tools or you have to raid at least 2 bastions or get lucky with the bastion. Needing to raid a different structure over and over is annoying and 7 diamonds per armor piece is quite steep too. Being able to do one set of armour would make the rarity of trims and diamonds much less cumbersome.

    If Mojang is trying to get you to explore your world, then heck yeah they did it well with the netherite upgrade.
    I will never forget how I wanted my maxed up diamond gear to be netherited in my 1.20 new survival world, and as I previousely got all the netherite ingots for it, I entered the nether to search for a bastion that could have it. In that inmersion, I found and looted three diferent bastions, and none of them had any single netherite upgrade. Just gold and obsidian that I used to craft an ender chest with the ender pearls from the warped forest and the blaze rods from a fortress that I also found in the way, all of that in order to solve the problem of inventory management that I was having due to the overloading items that I was founding in my journey. I got to the point that I started to use the materials around me in a way that I didin't even thought it could be posible, like when I ran out of wood and had to move on to the crimson forest to get wood for a crafting table, wich then I used to craft all the gold nuggets I was mining to get the gold that I used to trade with piglins, and then for those trades I got things like fire resistance potions, enderpearls and strings that later I would use to move from the third bastion (that was almost surrounded by a lava lake) to a set of crimson islands at the high of the lava, wich made me able to reach a strider with a warped fungus on a stick (that I previousley crafted with the strings and the wood from the crimson), only to realize that I didn't have a saddle to ride it, so I returned to the bastion with the enderpearls that I traded with piglins, only to fail my first pearl and ending up falling in the lava lake, forcing me to drink the fire resistance potion that I previousely got from piglins, then once arriving to the ender chest that I placed in the top of the bastion (because I didn't carried a silk touch picaxe with me) I got the saddle and I returned with pearls to the portion of crimson forest that was in the middle of the lava lake, finally getting to ride an strider and start moving trough the nether with much more eficiency, until I arrived to a fourth bastion that was intercalated with a basalt delta biome (wich made me freak out cuz bastions don't naturally generate in that biome and I don't know why because parkour between the basalt columns and the bastions was great), and hopefully I found two netherite upgrades in one random chest in the bastion (like, it didn't even had a treasure chest or anything, and I still got it from a random chest). Then I returned where I had parked the strider in blocks to get it away from it's family and friends forever and make a portal with the obsidian from the piglins to get back to the Overwordl, and the very first thing that apeared in my screen was "randomname has just earned the achievment [Black Hole]", wich meant that I had traveled more than seven kilometers from my first nether portal, and the second thing that I saw was almost total darkess, as I had appeared in a deepslate cave, without torches, and making up circular stairs to get up was damaging my eyes for all the darkess, so I got back to the nether and got lava buckets to iluminate the way, having to get back for more every time I placed in one point an then got up until I happen to mine a coal ore, that get me acces to torches. Although, once I got up, I ended up in an aquifer, so all of the torches that I had placed were gone. Once I got to the surface I thougth to myself: "alright, I have the inventory full, so no more exploring. I don't recognice the terrain, but if I get some redstone from the cave where the nether portal spawned and make a compass I will be able to get to the...", and I couldn't finish because my sight just caught up a rose glipse, and inmediately thought: "holy shit, the new cherryblossom biome that it's said is extremedly rare! I have to get at least a sappling for home!" I don't remember much about the journey to the spawn, but I remember that after finding lots of cool biomes like the ice spikes and the snow mountains with goats and trap snow, I got to the spawn only to get all my things in a double chest and inmediately kill myself to get to my home, and then go back to the spawn to get my things and know the way to my home.
    So yeah, I don't have any concern with the netherite upgrade, as it made me enjoy the cube game in a way that I could never thought it could be possible. For the lore thing, it is said in Minecraft Legends that piglins almost took entirely the Overworld, so that could explain why the netherite upgrade is made out of diamonds and works to upgrade the diamond to netherite armour, alongside with all the loot in the bastion chests that are exclusively from the Overworld like the iron, and also the thing with baby zombie piglins riding chickens.

    I think the idea was compensating for the greater availability of diamond. Not needing diamonds for armor because of villagers means that you don’t even need to go caving in the overworld to get netherite. This update makes you work harder to get netherite and gives diamonds more value

    This is the problem when you give a sandbox game hints at lore. They can’t add any features without people crying about how it connects to a nonexistent storyline. Sometimes a feature is just a fucking feature.

    I can't believe they haven't changed this yet. It feels so out of place and I'm honestly worried it'll make it to the base game

      Update, it made it to the base game. On the bright side there are a ton of people who aren't happy with this so I bet there will be a mod that allows you to play 1.20 without the upgrade template

    4:24 dude think about bedrock edition players, its so hard to get the nether star just to upgrade 2 or more diamond tools to netherite, and in addition to all of that bedrock wither is hella hard to fight than java edition withers

    • @Humulator
      @Humulator Před rokem

      What about parity fixing it, so the bedrock wither is easier or the java one is harder?

    My thought is maybe Gilded Blackstone, as it is only found on the occasion of finding a bastion, and before you have silktouch it does have a chance to just come out as nuggets, giving it's potential rarity some intrinsic value, while giving a late game player a more reasonable ease to get them through silktouch maybe?

    i do have an explanation for the recipe, it's treated the same as other armor trims, one block it seems to be made out of, seven diamonds and the base trim
