    I finally put my 2023 ultra 160lx skis in the water, I’m 240lb withe gear on and was able board the ski from one side no problem, they are very stable in my opinion.

    Enjoy the Dad time. Mine loved to ride. I think his favorite was his 97 900 STX. Strong ski you could spin and slide. Kawis first gen 3 seater hull. He had an Ultra 150 that was just a beast also. Great water. You have put Jupiter on my list! Thanks!

    it's funny how much the water clarity changes between Jupiter and Stuart..

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Před měsícem

      Yeah Stuart is not as clear sadly because they dump Lake Okeechobee water down the Okeechobee waterway into the St. Lucie River and then into the Indian River Lagoon. If the idiot Army Corps of Engineers had half a brainstem them would realize the grave environmental and economic damage they are doing..

    Hey JD, love your videos. I also enjoy riding with my son. We ride out of the Stuart inlet where you were hanging out. I wanted to ask, where was that really nice area you started the video in? Is that far from the Stuart inlet? Also, from where you were at the mouth of the inlet if you hang a right before the markers and head toward the houses there is a really nice sandbar there. You should check it out if you haven’t already. Cheers.

      @JDsWaterWorld  Před měsícem +1

      Awesome, we will have to meetup sometime! That was by Blowing Rocks preserve which is off of Jupiter Island, about 18 miles south of the St. Lucie inlet. Yes I’ve been to the Stuart sandbar many times but it was packed on this day, so I always sneak around to boyscout island which is fairly empty most of the time because it’s to shallow for bigger boats on the east side.

      People get too confused about the names

    • @edwardbowles8613
      @edwardbowles8613 Před měsícem +1

      You are correct on confusing names. That is a gripe with Kawasaki. They come up with great product names. Mule, Ninja and of course Jet Ski. But then naming the actual vehicle they blow it sometimes. Back in the 90s they had the ST /STS 3 seater hull. Then the STX. For some reason they named the 97 and 98 900 STX even though it was the STS hull. Not the newer STX hull. And the Ultra LX should have been the Ultra 160 all along. It never really had the LX features other than the sculpted seat later on. And now the Ultra LXS nomenclature makes no sense. More letters but less equipment! BUT the skis have always been great so I guess I am being petty

    JD one last question and I promise I will leave you alone :-) i did my visual inspection of 2022 KAWASKI Ultra 310 LX-S. It’s immaculate and looked for many visual items per your videos. Tomorrow (Saturday) I take the ski out on large lake for test ride and will put it through its paces and run it HARD for awhile.
    Question, when doing the visual inspection I checked the oil. It was sunny out so I couldn’t see the color very well. It looked light brown? Looked a little thin in viscosity?? And appeared to be a little over the "high " marker.
    Anyway I wiped oil off on paper towel and stuck the towel in my pocket. When I got home I reached in my pocket as I had forgotten about the oil rag. The rag smelled like gasoline. Is this a major red flag?
    After my ride tomorrow I will re check the oil a little more carefully. The ski recently had plugs and oil changed.
    I’m really stoked as the ski has 28 hours on it. And I’m getting it for $10,500 with trailer and cover. Your thoughts sir?

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Před měsícem

      It seems like a killer deal..make sure you check oil with ski floating in the water completely level..should be between the high and low fill marks, not overfilled, but that's an easy adjustment. You know with a used ski you never know if the seller is hiding something, can just hope they have some decency and are being honest with you. It's almost impossible to make any determination without seeing the ski. If it's a 2022 it has 3 recalls - make sure they are all done or you will end up having to get them done after you buy it, which means leaving it at the dealer for a month lol

    • @CrochetNewsNetwork
      @CrochetNewsNetwork Před měsícem

      @@JDsWaterWorld yep it’s always a crap shoot purchasing used. I value your opinion greatly. This guy is a successful financial advisor lives in a VERY upscale home with another home on a lake. He certainly has the finances to have made any repairs as money is not an issue for this gentleman. That being said it still could have problems. I asked at the beginning of negotiations about those three recalls, and the wife said she would look into it. She called the original dealer back in Michigan with the HIN and was told there are no issues. Now that could mean the original dealer made those correction before selling to anyone or the dealership so there are no issues on THIS ski, or dealer just does not want to acknowledge these recalls??? Trying to get to the bottom of this. As always you rock sir.

      @@JDsWaterWorldMan -o Man - o-Man. JD, I took out the KAWASKI 2022 Ultra LX-s 310 today on a large lake in Georgia. WOW! This bad boy was awesome! Spent 45:00 testing and riding hard. It would do 65 mph all day but no faster. I’m more than happy with that. Back at the dock did another inside engine compartment check, no water, oil looked good. When riding zero sputtering, instant speed. I’m kind of shocked when utilizing the trim that (for me ) cornered quite well. ---
      so I bought it!!! $10,500 for ski & trailer. If it were not for you sir, I’d still be agonizing over what ski to purchase. For me this is indeed THE ULTIMATE. -Thank you JD your videos help us all all out so much --Have a great weekend.

      No worries, man, you know I don't believe in mounting anything to the ski so I do not have anything specific I could recommend. But I do know that with kawasaki coming out with their fishing version of the ultra, I believe they will be selling the mount and GPS accessories Through their catalog so it might be best to wait and then just purchase that whole kit directly from kawasaki once it is available

    Hey JD have a question..on the 300 if you use cylinders sleeves,is the engine will run hotter??i have to do it on mine,is at the mechanic still haven't tested,but I just heard from Kawi performance, that the 300's have cooling issues since the water jackets are to low.it was a bad idea? thank you for the awesome videos.hope to see you guys in the water some day

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Před měsícem

      I would call Kawi Performance, and get his cooling upgrade kit for 300 to mimic the check valve on the 310..Then you theoretically should be fine. Steve knows these engines very well and won’t steer you wrong..he will take care of you..tell him Jd sent you lol

    How much difference in fuel consumption for thees two? I got a 250x and I do long Touring runs and was thinking that maby a 160lx will fit my needs better ?

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Před měsícem +1

      Honestly they are not that much different if cruising around 35 or 40 mph. The biggest differences come in the fuel type- with the n/a you can use 87 octane pump gas whereas the supercharged skis require premium or rec90- so the cost and availability on the water are concerns in some locales.

    • @Lars.Palmgren
      @Lars.Palmgren Před 29 dny

    Hey JD, still chasing my rpm issue we talked about a year ago now. Ski now has a new tensioner and belt, i/c has been cleaned, new plugs, fuel is clean and fresh 93, bag is clean, spark plugs have uniform fuel deposits after running, compression good. Kspeed wastegate blocked off, exhaust filter deleted. Its almost like its electronically limited to 7200rpm. I have checked thru hull seal and cant find water leaking. Belt is dry. Hole shot is decent, ill note boost next time i ride it, revs fine to limiter on tbe trailer. (Only did that once to check). Kspeed advised me to remove my riva scom and see what happens. I always thought the scoms failed hard not soft. I am going to check fuel pump pressure under load when i can, just looking for more ideas/things to check. Let me know what you think, thanks

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Před měsícem +1

      I can’t remember exactly what we talked about, but have you checked the jet pump impeller clearance as well as the bearings? And yes, I would remove any SCOM or aftermarket tune to help track down the issue. You can also check the bolts on the supercharger exit Plenum, but you must remove the exhaust manifold and supercharger in order to check those bolts. Definitely notate the boost level you are achieving, also you could check the flame arrestor screen in the airbox to see if it is clogged up

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Před měsícem +1

      Also, it’s worth checking the TPS sensor and throttle body voltages to ensure that the throttle body is actually opening all the way and the TPS is sending the correct readings to the ECU
