- as an esport caster and host that dabbles in multiple titles i get a lot of crossover viewers who like watching my casts but dont play or understand the games. in this video i will go over the core mechanics of tft and explain them as straightforward as possible. this is by no means an extensive guide but rather an intro to build on if you just want to give the game a shot and find yourself lost.
with this mini series i want to help people grasp the core of "my" games. let me know if this was helpful and if you want a "RWF for dummies" next! :)

As lots of new people are clicking on this video with Set 12 arriving: Heres some updates that are valid specifically for the new set:
- Theres no more Legends
- The max level is 10 now
- The new set mechanic is called "Charms" and theyre mini-buffs you can get in every third shop, only for one round

I planned this video as kind of an "evergreen" primer to TFT. I feel like the game lacks the welcoming element of teaching you basics, unfortunately.
For Set 10 (which you're referring to) they added Headliners again, which changes things up a bit.
Theres always more to learn about the game but let me link some great ways to find more info:
Tactic Tools: tactics.tools/team-compositions
This website is used by many pros, to see what's meta right now and to look up stats for augments and items, as well as a great info hub on the current Set.
Tacter: www.tacter.com/tft Similar to Tactic Tools, but more beginner friendly. Individual comps are explained by pros in Detail. Caveat: sometimes its a little behind the meta, and its a bit annoying to navigate.

Nope, the game is still an enigma. Every beginner video I have watched so far assumes too much prior knowledge of the League universe or of TFT itself. Where do you click? Where do you look for information? What to try to memorize vs what you can tell quickly through the UI? How to combine items within the 30 second planning window? etc etc etc

sorry this wasn't helpful to you. I do expect some gaming knowledge ahead of this, that's true.
However, you really don't need League knowledge!
As for your questions:
1) Where do you click?
With left click you control the little legend, you can drag&drop units from the shop to your bench, from the bench on your board or from either to the shop, to sell them. You can also drag&drop item components; two of those create one full item. To see what component can be what item, you can right click them or hover them over another component to see the item it would make.
2) Where do you look for information?
That depends what info you are looking for. TFT is *very* information dense. If you are looking for further info on the meta, comps or set info; here are some websites that might help:

Has become a go to for many newer players and they also have an in-game overlay which quickly tells you stats and lets you pick what comp you wanna play per game to then always show you the units you need for that comp.
3) What do you try to memorize?
As much as you can. What unit has which trait, how their ults scale and work, what items are best on each unit and what augments are strong at any given time in the meta.
4) What can you tell quickly through UI?
Which unit did the most damage on your team, who is in the pool of players you can fight, what components make which item, the breakpoints of each trait, shop odds, your gold income.
5) How do you combine items with the 30 second planning window?
The order of actions if you have a lot to do in a short window is:
Roll > Position > Items, since Items can also be slammed after the planning phase is over (in the first seconds of the fight).
I would recommend to try to play a couple of rounds and maybe return to the guide after as you will be familiar with the UI and the underlying mechanics of how to navigate etc, I really hope this helps! TFT is a very brain-heavy game and the meta changes super frequently, many people struggle with getting into it at first!

Hi there, I assume you mean pings! Im not sure what other questionmarks could be in the game. Those are just reactions from the other players and you can mute them if you find them distracting!
It's items drop, use your summoner to run over it and it will show what item u will get
