In this video I discuss the Ossiarch Bonereapers! This is my review of the range of models for the Ossiarch Bonereapers. I never got a chance to discuss these models when they came out but I love them. Watch the video to hear my full thoughts on them, including a ranking of my favourite models!
Did you enjoy the video? Are these a faction you collect or want to collect?? Let me know in the comments down below!
(UPDATE: stay safe! I hope you are all well. The one positive to this virus situation is that it is allowing me to make some videos! love all you guys and girls.
PREVIOUS UPDATE: I’m about to start a pretty big career change: From September 18 I will do teacher training (chemistry), which is a very, VERY demanding training course. It will take up a lot of my time, so I would be lying to say CZcams won’t be affected. This really saddens me but I will do my best to keep my channel afloat where I can! This is easily one of the best journeys I have ever undertaken and I have no plans to stop!).
I’m still having a blast making these videos and that is all thanks to you amazing people that support me. This video is mostly for people who are new to Age of Sigmar and want to know more about getting started. I personally love AoS and hope that making videos like these gets more people into the hobby. Just remember to respect other people’s opinions. Anyway, stay awesome :)

Much love to you all. - Hry
This was great fun to make! I love these models XD they are bonkers! Can't wait to start building and painting the ones I have! Hope you are all well my amazing friends. let me know if you want to see model reviews like this for other AoS factions!
Ohh, do make more of these! This is neat. Would love to hear your opinions on the Sylvaneth or Daughters of Khaine
Was thinking sylvaneth would be pretty high priority actually 😆 but cool thanks for the support. It means a lot
@@Kitetsu Nice. Gotten really into them again after painting a great tree-revenant in preperation for the Goldenhammer
Also, Arch-Kavalos Zandtos and Vokmortian, Master of the Bone-tithe are unique characters, think you might have missed out on that.
I was patiently waiting for kirioth to be finished with 40k so that he could get to AoS. But now I guess I won't have to wait so thanks for that ;)
I didn’t realise he was doing age of sigmar ones but someone else just told me he had done some
@@Kitetsu yeah don't worry I think he'll go back to 40k. I think that video was a one off since the army he discussed was just a favorite of his.
Great video. The problem of having Katakros attendants as separate units is that they end up like Gobbapalooza never used... and as heroes they fill other gaps already required. What you can do is to magnetise them so that when the profile gets wounded you physically remove the attendants to reflect the warscroll
Amazing idea. Love the idea of magnetising them. Hm I shall give your gobbapalooza comment some thought 🤔
Bonereapers are an amazing faction. I can't wait to get my army built up and painted.
I love the models! They look incredible. A very solid release for the Death Faction
Yess, pls do more range reviews, I personally would love one on Seraphon
Ps: Kirioth did reviews for nighthaunt and Daughters of Khaine (but that doesn't stop you from doing them yourself 😉)
Wait he has done some age of sigmas too? I didn’t know that 🧐🧐 hmm i thought he was totally focussed on 40k range reviews
@@Kitetsu yes, I'm sure I've watched him review nighthaunt, Daughters of Khaine, some underworlds and warcry warbands. He didn't seem to know much lore, but looked at them from just a model perspective. He also mentioned he's getting the mortal realms magazine
Interesting. Well. I guess it doesn’t stop me making them 🤷🏻♂️
@@Kitetsu He just did the Kharadron Overlords, I think he does 1 day 40K 1 day Forgeworld and 1 day Age of Sigmar except whe he don't and just does the Orks because why not?
@@Kitetsu of course not! I'd love to see You do it, and many others would probably too
Woooh Kirioth is great! Always happy to have you back, too :)
Yeah that sounds amazing, getting some insight in all the armies :)
My own ossiarch wish list for future models:
1. Archer units
2. Infantry Liege (this one already referenced in the lore as a 'liege mortek')
3. Morghast hero
4. Monster mount, something reminiscent of the tomb king royal warshpinx
5. More terrain! Ossiarch obelisks, bone towers, etc. I want to be able to buy the bone fortress walls & gate that the studio uses in all their pics.
Building fortifications is such a core part of ossiarch lore, i'd love to have official terrain kits to reflect it.the chaos fort & sigmarite ruins really don't work for ossiarchs.
i am more then happy to see u active again
and i love this new model range review series u do... pls pls pls pls more
maybe kharadron overlords next?
Nicest comment I have had all day 😭😭
New drinking game, everytime Kitetsu says "Fragile" take a shot! Great vids, enjoying this series.
I can one up you. Every time I say “amazing” or “fantastic” take a shot ;) especially if you watch my Gloompite Gitz video
This is my favourite age of sigmar army by far. I have 2000 points worth ready to build and paint but I just don’t have the time until I have finished my sisters of battle army. Great video, I look forward to more range reviews. PS kirioth just put up a range review of the kharadron overlords.
As your describing the models I'm putting together the Necropolis Stalkers box together. Yes indeed they have the look of bad assery.
i had troubles distinguishing your and Kirioth's videos, now it's even more difficult XD
the range reviews are great. more please.
I really adore what they went with for the Ossiarch. At first was worried that a bone construct army would end up looking Necron lite but them going for more of a metropolis/the bad guys form that one riddick movie (Necromongers I think?} really helped set them apart. As for the Katakros I treat him like a moving diorama, similar to the triumph of saint Kathrine in 40k SOB. Since he has rules based on it might be tempted to see if fashioning pegs from paper clips on the models can make a version where you make the advisors removable from the base as they die off stable? Other all my biggest gripe hilariously ends (and somewhat jokingly ) up as a tomb king fan their aos versions are subservient to Nagash and no rogue undead faction is around (plz I just want a rebel king settra riding around is that too much to ask). Oddly enough whenever I look at the Ossiarch I am less excited for playing them as for possible conversions for 40k Necrons and Thousand Sons.
The thin spindly bits like on that catapult basket does look fragile. However I think that is what is kind of cool about plastic is that it is pretty light-weight so you might be able to get away with it depending on how you want to store it.
Wow, what a treat! I am really into Bonereapers these days (I found a "cheap" Feast of Bones-box two days ago). Trying to focus on the Chaos Ascendant army that I am currently working on. I have an embarassingly large Bonereapers army that I haven't touched with a brush yet. I'm telling myself that they will be my spooky fall project this year.
That’s the exact box I have too 😂😂😂 and I’m in the same situation. Haven’t built it yet
@@Kitetsu I'm even worse. I bought it at release too, so the dusty old box I found two days ago is my second one :| I tried rationalising the purchase to myself: "Well, I need some more Necropolis Stalkers, soooo..."
Awesome! I asked for this and I am collecting Bonereapers too!!! Also I’d quite like a range review on the Deepkin, Nighthaunt or Disciples of Tzeentch
I knew someone did but I couldn’t remember who 😂 enjoy
Kitetsu no problem, I will enjoy! Also I just edited my comment 🤣😂
havent watched yet but just wanted to say im glad your back and the bonereapers will be my first AOS army, Love them!
Thanks mate! Enjoy the video! And yes me too! They are so cool
@@Kitetsu I've got the start collecting legions of nagash box as it was all that was in stock currently but I guess I just like bone bois and they can technically play together from what I gather. But yeah next purchase will be some mortek guard. Gonna go for a forest/mossy theme so they'll be all green and covered in moss!
But Also just starting Imperial guard so I'll have to balance them out money wise 😂
@@Jason-gq8fo Might be abit late but while the legions of nagash box is good value you might want to make the mortarch included as arkhan, unfortunately Bonereapers can't ally with anyone unless you're willing to play as grand alliance death instead. Arkhan is included in the bonereaper battletomb so he can be used in the army. However its all up to which mortarch you like the look of most at the end of the day, Legions of nagash is a cool faction too ^^
@@kokosigar4536 im mostly in it for the model side of things tbh. But I was gonna magnetise the mortach so i can use all three
🎶 spooky scary skeletons 🎶
The reveal of this lineup really hype me on AoS, one day i'll grab the the Warcry/underworld warband of this faction
I love them! Very cool models
It was a nice video to watch and listen to, please make a whole series like this for other AoS armies! ;)
I like watching your model range reviews, and will keep doing so. But it's crazy how much our tastes differ. Your favourite models are generally the ones I think are whatever, and there are others that you brush over that are the real selling points for me haha.
Like the harvester is definitely in the red for me for example.
Yes we all have unique tastes but that’s what is good about having larger armies with more choices: it makes it more likely to cater to a lot of tastes
I have almost every death kit (including these kits) and I can assert that the OBR are significantly sturdier the night haunt. The mortisans are all surprisingly sturdy despite how fragile some of the pieces look. (Unlike the nighthaunt which are surprisingly fragile with pieces that look like they'd be fine but break all the time. Looking at you gaurdian of souls.) I agree that Katakros looks a bit over the top for a game piece, but I'm painting him for the Golden Hammer Comp, so I think in my case this actually a huge positive.
(Also I bet you would love the mortisan Trident battalion. It is the gothizar harvester, a boneshaper, a soulreaper, and a soulmason. If the harvester is in combat than each of the wizard boys can cast an extra spell. Talk about OP)
They definitely look very sturdy overall. A big plus for me. And wow it’s like all my favourite units in a battalion 😂😂. Also, I can’t wait to see your entry for the competition! Super excited for that
the harvester is by far the coolest thing I've seen out of age of sigmar, damn.
as someone who’s just browsing so to speak (don’t own anything warhammer, or tabletop in general) i’m surprised how often fragility was brought up. guessing things must break pretty often for the topic to be brought up on more than half the models
I love these models. Funny story, they remind me a lot of the skeletons from Demon's Souls (Shrine of Storms possessed armor thingies) which have been etched into my mind for over 10 years now. They're minor enemies in that game but I always adored their design, these look very much alike (though these ones must have been first most likely) and almost want me to invest in a small black skeleton army.
Bonereapers are really good looking faction and I like the fact they can be used in Warcry as well (I'm personaly more of skirmish-guy). The only problem I have with them is lore-wise, and that is the fact they are probably the most difficult to make rogue sub-faction (my personal favourite style both in AoS and 40k, to make some kind of outcasts, mercenaries or independent order, hence why I focused lately on Gloomspite Gitz). I heard some other fans besides me to be slightly disapointed that most of undead are just "Bootlicks of Nagash". Also, afaik, Vokmortian is a character rather than "generic" HQ, and characters usually don't have that much of customization options (although, nothing prevents player to go wild with kitbashing and use that model as "counts as")
You are not the only one who loves the stalkers
Maybe do Legion of Nagash next ?
The OBR are a fantastic looking and some nice lore army. Would like a start collecting box though. Mine are in the Crematorians style. And cavalry, lots of bony ponies.
Normally about a year before we get a start collecting box :) yeah very cool lore. Did you read wrath of the everchosen?
@@Kitetsu I haven't yet actually. I do have it and will put it top of list of things to read.
Now that I have read it, the lore contradicts itself. The battletom says OBR take no allies. The Wrath of the Everchosen says Katakros allied with Lady Olynder and the Nighthaunt. That would be a great team up on a field of play.
Hmmm... Might just use my spare Necrons I think :-) The cav are really great, though...
Nagash is actually in the center of vokmortian in the first model. He possesses him no and then😆
I love this faction but I wouldn't know how to paint a lot of the details (especially the soul skull in some bone-constructs).
I can check the battle tome to see if there is a tutorial if you want. Follow me on twitter and I can show you
czcams.com/video/9cbh7wekcvE/video.html not entirely sure if it helps you, but I have found it immensly helpful for nighthaunt soul and or magic energy. Additionally you can switch out the special gw paints for any color diluted with water and a few drops of all things rubbing alcohol to make whatever color tint you want for your souls.
It's very interesting that AoS has moved so strongly away from the more traditional undead to a more constructed form of undead, with the Nighthaunt being a constructed spiritual undead army, and these guys being a physical constructed undead army.
Add in the semi-alive Carrion Eaters army we have 3 very distinct Death Faction armies, which leaves me wondering, what will they do for the Vampires when they get around to them?
They're the flesh eater courts surely? They are run by vampires.
If you're interested in good painting tutorials for the Ossiarch Bonereapers a small CZcamsr called 'Vidor Szabo' has benn doing some excellent videos o them. A few Nighthaunt models as well.
These are not the AoS version of Tomb Kings... these are the AoS version of frikkin' NECRONS!
Why do people say this? I don't get it. They're so much closer to tyranids. Unless it's because necrons look like skeletons?
@@Andrew-yl7lm Because these are necrons made of bones, tyranids are much more bestial and feral
@@brotquel1592 yeah but necrons can't think, these can. These create their bodies from fallen biomatter, just like tyranids. Plus, the necrons am were just copies of the tomb kings to begin with lol
@@Andrew-yl7lm And ossiarchs are the new tomb king... also only "high level tyranids can think, most of them, as long as a HQ isn't nearby, succumb to the more basic instincts.
If you really want a parallel between 40k and fantasy/AoS, tyranids are like skavens, a never ending mass of ravenous vermins animated by a inhuman source (warpstone/hivemind) that keep infiltrating human settlements from where humans don't expect them to do so (sewers/outer galaxies/perpendicular direction instead of riding the whole friggin' whirl of the galaxy.
Necrons are ossiarch: long dead individuals from long forgotten empires reanimated into skeletal guises in an etenal cycle of death and rebirth to extinguish even the last whisp of life from the universe.
@@brotquel1592 The tyranids can't think, right, just like necrons - in that sense they're similar too. Since only the Lord's have any real consciousness. I still couldn't disagree more, necrons are robots, terminators. Following protocol. They can't set traps or plan ahead as individuals and these can. These are not from an old empire, they never existed before and they're constructed from dead enemies bio matter, not anything that's actually reanimated into cold inorganic steel since they aren't an individual, they've never had another 'life' Even the comparison for the Skaven to Nids I disagree with, each Skaven believes themselves unique and best and a rightful ruler, they have a god and a self serving plan for that god. Take away that necrons look like skeletons and there's no comparison. Take away that Skaven are vast in number are there's no comparison.
Im waiting for idoneth :)
Cool yeah I should be able to get round to that some time soon 😃
I loved the idea of this army when it was announced, but was ultimately disappointed by the lack of variety. A single man-sized infantry unit with no weapon options, a single cavalry unit, the only ranged options being magic and the catapult - it's just a bit meh. On top of that, I recall the named characters all come from the same sub-faction, which is annoying if you prefer something else (like the fossilised Petrifex Elite).
I do like how the leader loses access to his 'support staff' as he takes damage, and being able to remove individual models from the base would be a good way to represent that.
Ultimately, it feels a bit like the initial release for Ad Mech in 40k. Few options, but improved on over time. I'll take another look should they get reinforcements in the future.
Not gonna lie, I thought Kirioth had started a second channel or something. Great video though!
Last Kingdom, a man of culture aswell I see!
I am obsessed with it. It is INSANELY good. Wish I was born a Dane 😂😂
@@Kitetsu I know right?! For me it started as a low budget Vikings fix, but I honestly might like it more at this point.
But if Last Kingdom taught me anything: you don't have to be born a Dane to be a Viking 💪🏻
Do I need to watch vikings then? I’ve heard a few people mention it. But dude. This series is far more than some low budget fix. It’s one of my favourite series ever at the moment. I swear it on Thor’s hammer.
@@Kitetsu I can reccomend Vikings alot.
They play more with the diffefences and some.of the vikings culture is super odd and alien.
Especially the first 4 Seasons, after that it sadly goes downhill fast.
the mortek crawler is a huge model. its on an imperial knight size base.
Makes sense if it’s going to be £50!
@@Kitetsu I think its alright. you dont need many of them and they have solid rules
And the hamster wheel is amazing 😂
@@Kitetsu he has the best job in the ossiarch army :D
I have an ossiarch bonereapers army myself. went for a tomb kings paint scheme and I love the models. imo they are not in a great spot rulewise, but im trying to make them work for me.
What isn’t good about their rules ? The battle tome looks decent at first glance.
@@Kitetsu they are definetly not bad. but thats not the problem I have. the problem I have is that it has give me bad playing experience becouse some things are just broken. Like the petrifex elite subfaction.
Which part specifically? The plus one to save rolls? It seems a bit insane
@@Kitetsu yeah the +1 to saves seems insane at first, but the command ability is the real killer. +1 to the rend characteristic is too op. you can give mortek guard a rend of -2 if they have swords. so its a subfaction that boosts both offence and defence without any downside.
if they change that subfaction/command ability and give us some small point reductions to make the other subfactions more viable options I would be very happy
They dont have helmeted option. Only the leaders get that.
Would we be able to get the 'Red' at the end of the video in an orange? Simply to have an Irish flag.
Just for you, I will do that in my next video 😂
If Bonereapers were meant to be the AoS version of Tomb Kings they totally and utterly missed the mark.
They look like Tyranid Warriors and Necrons had a baby after a wild night together.
They just don't do it for me at all.
Also those faces look like the comic skeleton big heads from the 90s skeletons.
Well they are filling the tomb king slot that is missing from age of sigmar. But they definitely aren’t meant to be a clone of them. They are a totally new and different twist. But that’s okay if you don’t like them. I do get what you mean about tyranids though. But only when you paint them purple
Very cool army, love the Tomb King aesthetic.
I think the general theme of the Ossirachs is cool, but the design aesthetic of "swole skeletons" is a bit daft, especially when you find the ones with *noses* (I burst out laughing the first time I saw that). The armor style is incredibly cool though, a sort of mix of Egyptian, Greek and Japanese or something.
The constructs are a bit hit of miss for me. There's parts of them that are cool, while others feel a bit over-designed and visually busy.
Oh wow I literally can’t unsee the noses now 😂😂 👃
Keep hearing people say these are like the AoS tomb kings but I can't be the only one that thinks they look more Samurai than Egyptian?
Yes they are very clearly samurai-inspired. The reason people are comparing them to tomb kings is because they fill that same niche that they did. But from a visual and lore perspective they are very different
@@Kitetsu So correct me if I'm wrong (i've not played or even looked at TK for years so the chances are high lol) but I rememeber TK being fairly fragile and pretty fast moving for undead while these guys are about as elite as it gets and slow? I suppose they had the constructs?... Meh either way really enjoyed the video dude, good to see you back :)
Personally I thought Ossiarch had swiped a bit of the Lizardme... ahem, Seraphon's Aztec vibe.
Hm really ? Interesting. I only really got that feeling from the guy sitting on his walking chair
@@Kitetsu I get the vibe strongest from Katakros, myself. Something about his pose and attire made my mind leap straight to Aztec.
Although it occurred to me as I typed that there's also something... I can't decide if it's Roman or Conquistador Spanish (my history fails me sometimes) about some of the troops. If it's Spanish then that's a interesting combination on GW's part. One I rather like.
Well sculpted models but I really dont like the theme of the Ossiarch Bonereapers. I think they do not fit with all the rest of Nagash legions and with Warhammer as well. I would have preferred if they kept that gothic flavour they used for Vampire Lords and more classic undead legions.
Wooo
😆😆
Undead factions need more bones. Skaven, ork, human, everything.
Buff Skeletons.
I love this faction and the lore is so well done. I enjoy all the kits, the play style is one that fits perfectly with me. The only thing I wish they had done is make them a rogue death army in the sense of they don't worship/follow Nagash or at least not all of them do. The way they operate sets them up perfect to be a death army that does their own thing, especially with the fact that they can't ally with any other army.
You have the Engineer from Prometheus leading a skeleton General Kenobi with skeletal Necrons… whoever designed this army had far too many influences and created a mess. One of the worst looking armies.
I love the Bonereapers, but it's a bit blatant that GW has gone and just started reusing Necron design aesthetics. I think they've done a wonderful job repurposing them though, and from a business standpoint having a library of shared components is much easier and more affordable than making completely new assets for every model.
We nee a "fragile"-counter for your Videos... this is getting out of hand :O
Man, this faction is just not for me. Every model looks terrible and is an instant no-go. I've never had a GW army hit me this way before.
Yeah dude range review, I oddly love these style videos.
