At 3:36 it's him (Luc Plamondon) wrote many songs of Starmania and yes at 4:45 it's Michel Berger wrote the music..
Starmania is a masterpiece. This Rock Opera (or musical ?) is the one where the "SOS" song that sang Dimash and (Daniel Balavoine, the original singer) comes from.
Starmania has been translated in english : it is called "Tycoon". Peter Kingbsury sang the SOS song called "Only the very best" in english, Cindy Lauper sang this one...

Cindy Lauper has 2 songs in Tycoon : The World is stone and (my slightly favorite) You have to learn to live alone

(I love the version of the "Enfoirés" troupe of the singers of the "Restos du coeur") If I am not mistaken there was still this song to place in the opera rock Starmania and we asked the singers who wanted to sing it Fabien Thibault said yes right away but Mr. Berger said that she already had many songs but it was still accepted

First version of starmania. 1979. A lot to listent after that.
In Starmania this song is from the part of Marie-Jeanne who's a waitress in an underground bar, she's also the one singing "un garçon pas comme les autres (Ziggy)", "la complainte de la serveuse automate"... She's depressed by her routine life and in love with her best friend Ziggy who's gay... And she's the witness of the bigger events of the story... "Le monde est stone" is one of the final songs of Starmania.
The role was taken later by many other wonderful singers including Maurane, or indeed Cyndi Lauper in English

I will finally see Starmania in live in a few weeks. I've been waiting for so long for a new version as ladr time it was live, I was not yet born 🤭. I just hope they did not make too many changes in all those great songs we all know in France.
Starmania is too cult. Even if the difference is only an octave, it will sound as wrong as when you sing a song with the guy on the radio and he gets the lyrics to his own song wrong. Luckily you know the good ones.

The world is stoned, as in drugged... because Marie-Jeanne (the character portrayed by Fabienne Thibault) saw the rebellious Black Stars (les Étoiles Noires) being taken out by the Occident government, led by Zero Janvier (Claude Dubois' character, the one who sings Le Blues du Businessman), without anyone reacting. The whole Starmania rock opera is an amazing piece of story and music.

8:24 Ironically, my parents who were just regular people never like Fabienne cause of the vibrato. There are other versions that sound better and more poignant. Wasn’t Cindy Lauper actually in the English version of Starmania called Tycoon?!

I love the song, don't like Fabienne's voice though. Yes, Cyndi Lauper did a great version of this in English. Celine did a great version in French, also part of it was included in her Starmania medley.
