Ty segall spit on me. I went to one of his concerts not long ago. I came 4 hours early to his venue at downtwon san franscio. I saw him on the street, I froze and didnt know what to say. But i was at the front of the stage, and he grabbed my hand and spit a mass ball in my hand. i took it and threw it into the crowd. They went fuckin nuts. best mement of my entire life.

Ty Segall is so right on about information overload via the internet. I feel sorry for the kids who never got to hold or experience playing an instrument in elementary school or hearing an album in its entirety for the first time or punk rock 45 records were my favorite too. I remember when I was a little kid being completely obsessed with the albums my older sisters would bring home. I would sit in awe for hours being amazed by the artwork on Elton John's Yellow Brick Road album and Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies Album Covers. I played guitar as a teenager and wanted to be just like Joan Jett or Suzi Quatro. Ty Segall is a brilliant musician and I love that he pays homage to all the greats like David Bowie and Marc Bolan. He is definitely one of the coolest musicians today. I hope he doesn't stop rocking and rolling!

Can't say I've ever respected another artist a much as Ty, his music has so much heart and I think that's what drew me in. I first heard him a few years ago when the guitar solo from Goodbye Bread was featured in one of Nicholas Megapolis's early vines and I asked what it was after rewatching the vine too many times haha, and I've been listening to him nearly everyday since! Honest music can suck you in in under 6 seconds. I've been wanting to make music for years but his music was like the missing link in helping me learn what I like best, and I've picked up the guitar and have barely put it down since I started.

He's right - rock & roll has lost its aura, just as literature has... but that is because, as a historical practice (not as something that has always existed, as they tell you in universities) has served its (nonetheless contradictory) legitimizing role. Yes, even rock & roll. And it doesn't make it less great that it comes out of the real material conditions of existence, our mode of production... Etc.

Nirvana got me to play guitar and I've been playing for about a full year now I self taught myself and I stumbled upon Ty Segall and ever since then I fell in love with the fuzz I play a bunch of Ty Segall's records multiple times this man is a musical genius!

Such a smart and humble man. This interview really made me appreciate him more.
And what he said about John Dwyer - really says a lot, this man is a musical genius and being able to put out so much stuff covering so many different genres really makes him one of the most important music personas of this era, for me at least.

Saw Ty Segal in Chicago during the Manipulator tour and he fucking rocked the house and even played a medley of David Bowie songs which was the icing on the cake. When I hear other people say theres no good music anymore I always tell them you just gotta dig and put some effort to find the good stuff bcs its out there. For example the musicians and bands like Ty Segall, Wavves, the Black Lips, etc etc are really great music. I do agree with Ty saying that there isnt as much of a community feeling as there was in the previous generations. For example the 70's had a great scene around the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers, The Ramones, The Dead Boys, Talking Heads Television, Sex Pistols, etc etc. But there will always be people who gather together and form some sort of community through a shared appreciation for certain styles of music and other interests. Maybe not as much as the past 60 years or so, but there still are people who share a sense of community through similar musical tastes and other interests.
