I'm here to share my 20-plus years of knowledge for my other career as a professional pet stylist known as a groomer. My goal for this tutorial is to make grooming easier and less painful
for dogs and the people who love them want to save you from the anxiety caused by bad haircuts, grouchy groomers, and the silly endless war against tangles.

Thank you so very much for the thorough grooming tutorial. My husband purchased a Lagotto five years ago, from an AKC breeder in Georgia. We love this dog. Currently, we have significantly less income, and taking Roxy to the groomer on a bi-monthly basis, has become financially prohibitive. Additionally, Roxy loves her groomer, but she has horrible anxiety about car rides and she is clearly exhausted from the stress she experiences from the whole grooming process.

Absolutely love your videos and information. Living in stage 4 lockdown in Victoria Australia . It’s winter so left our 5 yo boy Frank long. Now desperate as weather warmer and our state government has put a ban on grooming (dogs and humans !) My grey hairs are ok but matted “sheep look” Frank is panting on walks. Be great to have links you mentioned for the recommended grooming equipment electric clippers to buy on your website. I’m going to download and try and learn to clip Frank and also give this information to other Lagotto owners we know and to the groomer. No more blow dried “lion mane” look fluffy heads😬 So cute looking at your videos how all Lagottos - even our Frank on the other side of the globe - have the same ways they pant, look , swim , run around, dig .

J'ai une chienne d'eau espagnol. Cette race est très peu connue ici au Québec. C'est la première fois que j'entend d'aussi bons conseils concernant la bonne manière de prendre soins de la fourrure d'un chien d'eau. Le Lagotto ressemble beaucoup au chien d'eau espagnol. Vos conseils m'aident beaucoup. Sincère merci.
That's a very comfortable Lagotto by the way, I'd say not what most of them are. For my dog I was told that it wasn't a 'match' ...but when questioning a bit further, she mentioned that she needed to get her husband to keep him 'down

Is it okay to brush as much the lagotto than the poodle? Some people say that it might actually create matts. Then, how often should I brush the coat?
Hi Stella Wu, I'm a just a web manager for Lagotto Grooming but I asked Robin about your questions. She said "Properly brushing and combing a Lagotto frequently would not harm the coat accept to remove a lot of the wooly undercoat which keeps the dog warm but also causes matting .

i have a beige lagotto who has kinkier hair than the brown version. i like a rustic look but can't find an experienced groomer. i spend way too much $$$ with results that do not look like the breed. i am considering trying to groom myself! hopefully your advice can help.
Great video! Question if you only HV for drying say in a mobile salon you dont have a choice but to straighten the coat or have a wet dog.
Great question !!! Yes !! You MUST straighten the cost before the trim to be able to get it even . AFTER the trim is finished ... then re wet the whole dog and allow to dry curly. commented by Robin Morehouse
@@SnowchaDesign yes! This was my instinct as well but the literature and breeders say not to do this and that slickers will ruin the coat.
I don't understand why they set up the LR owners to fail with matted shavedowns.

@@Anon_E_Muss It's advertised as a sample. Instead, it is a commercial. Since it is not a sample tutorial, I think it is misleading. I am not opposed to anyone selling their experience and time. But, I think they should be honest about it.
