- I tested everything they had in the instruction manual, range, speed, hills and more. Have to say, this is a pretty killer budget ebike. Couldn't find anything I didn't like about it.

Got my 700 6 months ago. Love it. I've put 1350 miles on it with absolutely no problems. I live on a big hill and the brakes and climbing power are terrific. The gears shift precisely. The ride on bumpy roads is smooth with the wide tires and suspension fork. I often take 30-35 mile rides with the pedal assist in mid range (level 4 or 5 of 9) and return with plenty of battery. The handlebar stem can be adjusted to raise the bar 3" and move it 3" closer to rider which I did to give me an upright riding position. At first the cadence based pedal assist didn't feel good. But with a little practice I now love it. The brief delay in onset of power with cadence assist can be totally eliminated with a quick tap of the thumb throttle. The brief delay in cutting off power when you stop pedaling can likewise be eliminated with a slight twitch of the brake handle. These little touches become reflexive second nature making for a smooth comfortable ride. The bike is still solid with no rattles or squeaks. At around 800 miles on the odometer I had a bike mechanic do a tune up, which amounted to changing the brake pads, tightening the rear wheel spokes a bit, lubing the chain, and wiping dust off the frame, otherwise the bike was in perfect condition. I think this review by Bryon described the performance of this bike very well. I would attest to its outstanding quality of build, reliability, and comfort. While I haven't had any problems to discuss with the Ride 1 Up company, they have been quickly and competently responsive when I contacted them with a few questions. As you can tell, I'm fan of this bike. I think it can't be beat for value, performance, comfort, and reliability in the $1500 price range. I forgot to say it looks real good too. It gets lots of compliments.
Dude you need to set up a channel and start reviewing! Good stuff! Thanks for the input :)
I have 400 miles om my 700ST and love it! With GS1 Ergon grips, a suspension stem and a suspension seat post and deluxe seat, she feels like a Caddy!
Do you have any advice for attaching a basket to the rear rack? I’m looking into this for grocery runs.
@@username19237 Hi. I don't have any info on attaching a basket to rear rack. However, my advise would be to get panniers. I use them regularly for grocery shopping. In the side pocket of the panniers I fold up a bag that has straps to put my arms through and carry on my back. I can handle 3 bags of groceries with this set up. Panniers take up less room when parking the bike and make mounting easier than with baskets.
Hi I wanted to ask if you are still happy with the 700? I’m 5’8 and 265 Lbs what do you think? Oh yah 30 inch inseam… thanks!!
Quality video. Thorough. Great editing. This deserves views. Appreciate your efforts.
Thanks!
Just ordered one last week- great review!
Looking forward to some great rides here in N.Florida.
Thanks! Enjoy the ride!
A heads up for people watching this review. After many test rides (bikes up to $7k) and research we bought 2 Ride1Up 700s. We were hesitant to purchase before trying but these bikes are perfect! Other ebikes have a almost dangerous power distribution thats not adjustable and we found other issues we didnt like on every test ride (no thumb throttle, uncomfortable, etc). This bike has everything, power settings and display fully customizable and very nice to ride with or without power assist. Speed and battery life are amazing. Looks and comfort are as well. Great product all the way around
Thanks for the comment, I really do like this brand, quality bikes
Hi Jeremy… do you mind a few questions? The reviews all say it’s a bit weak on steep hills, do you agree? Then do you know if the motor is actually a 750 watt or 500 with max output of 750? Website and reviews contradict each other. Thanks! Bernie
excellent review and testing! thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Just finished assembling mine and taking it for a test ride. SO FUN!
Hi… is it weak on hills as seen in reviews?…thanks!
Thorough and real life testing and reporting! GREAT WORK, THANKS!!!!
Thanks for watching
Got mine last week, rode it for the first time yesterday! Love it! 😀👍🏻
How is it on hills…thanks
Great review... Really nice breakdown on the speeds with the battery's percentages.
Thanks! Glad you liked
Fantastic detailed review on what an ebike can do. I live in a country that's got hill lots of hills, I'm surrounded by hills!
Hi Mike… did you go with the ride1 up bike or a different model? I’m curious as I have a big hill to climb and the ride1 up 700 has some weak reviews on hills. Please let me know when you have a moment. Thanks!
Good review. Subscribed. Keep up reviews like this.
Thanks and welcome to the channel!
Great review! I was honestly never going to even consider one but after this video, I just may. Thank for all your hard work you do, wish you all the luck. 👍
Thanks for watching. I'm becoming a fan of the ebike, especially as they are becoming more affordable
Hello… did you go with the ride1 up bike…if so how is it? …thanks
Really , really, good review and testing . Am considering it..
Thanks man! It's a solid bike for sure
This is the bike I own, so far I love it. Very powerful and faster than I expected!!
In the words of the knight from Indiana Jones... You have chosen.. wisely
Hello… how is it on hills? Reviews has it a bit weak. Thanks!
Wow! Fantastic review. I'd been wondering how it would do on hills and rough terrain. I've been zooming all over Los Angeles with my 700 for the last month or so. Great bike!
You made a good choice, I love it!
Hi! I wanted to ask what you think of a 5’8… 265 LB … 30 inch inseam rider will do on the 700
Excellent video! I'm considering this for my wife, but concerned about maintenance cost. We have 2 LBS within 15 to 25 miles: Trek & Specialized. The are great on their own products as I have bikes from both. But, there is no priority for other brand bikes.
Cost would be similar to other brands, haven't had it long enough to need to replace or fix anything
This is the best review I’ve seen!! Awesome!! I have a question does the break-light light up when pressed/squeezed?
Thanks and yes it does
That’s how reviews should be. Thanks!
Glad you liked
Nice review! Have a 700-really is a great E-Bike. At 235 lbs and using level 2 and 3 I usually charge when the battery is down to around 30% and have gone around 35 miles. Really enjoy pedaling in level 2 while cruising at 17 mph. On large hills I use Pedal Assist 3. For the same effort one uses to go around 10mph on a regular city bike you are easily nearly doubling your speed. I have found that there are several good bikes with similar quality and components but the 700 is a better value.
Thanks! This is the 4th bike I've reviewed and has been my fav for sure. Solid bike, you made a good choice
Does the noise the bike seems to make in the video become annoying at some point?
@@granadosable I do not find it annoying and it is a good audible gauge of how your motor is running. It is part of the ride. This is really a nice EBike , I have looked at most available in this price range and for the price there is nothing better. The sound on the video seems a bit amplified probably due to the recording level or the volume setting on your computer.
@@granadosable mine are quiet
Excellent reviews! Thank you. Need a low step, otherwise it could be in the running. 🚲
They have a low step version called the 700ST. Check it out!
Thanks and I was just gonna make the same comment, Tron did
A great to the point review.
Thanks!
If you crash and break a brake lever, can the wiring be disconnected so it doesn't have to be completely withdrawn from within the frame in order to replace just the lever? In other words, are there "quick disconnects" for each remote component?
Awesome video great review.
Thanks!
Excellent video.
I saw your review of the Macwheel and I realize these two bikes are worlds apart, but if it was your first eBike would the Macwheel be sufficient or should I just pony up and get something more like this? I really like the look of the 700 and the Brown/Grey combo on the 500. Thanks for the review and keep up the good fight!!
Macwheel is killer for the price but the seat is pretty hard, handlebars lower than I prefer so for long distances, you do get a little sore if you're not use to riding. The 700 is a bit more comfortable and can't argue with the power. Not sure what to tell you, both bikes are good for the price. Depends on what you want to spend :)
works great, very happy with this product
Great review, but you don't measure battery capacity in volts. 48 volts is standard. You need to measure it in watt hours combined with voltage, or just use straight amp hours, for battery capacity
Thanks great review do a lot of normal bicycle myself most ebucks still too pricey for me
I just beg and beg companies to send them to me.. persistence pays off lol. What's your channel?
I think it been better if you lowered the music more or no music but great review...
I bought 2 of these bikes about 3 months apart. First one went together well the 2nd suffers from severe quality issues. The customer service, which is basically 1 person, weasels out of everything, they have a story for everything and blame you for the reason the bike is lemon. I am now considering filing a complaint with my state's attorney general. First bike was as described above the 2nd one is a lemon, broken parts, parts that will not assemble, its a joke.
Have you compared it to Ariel Rider C-Class? I am curious as these are the two I am most interested in! Thanks!
No I haven't but I'll be reviewing their X series in a couple of weeks so stay tuned
what helmet did you wear in the video?
I am 6'6" - will this bike fit me, with or without a longer seatpost and / or adjustable stem? Thanks. Nice review....
Thanks! yeah you should be good, it's a bigger frame bike, I'm 5'11 and felt small on it
Great review, what would be your favorite E-bike in the 1500 price range?
That's tough and I've reviewed so many it's hard to remember all the details. Here's my website that may help you out, it's got all my reviews sorted by price electricrevolutionreviews.com/
What do you mean when you say battery is at 50% and then a peddle assist level?
Battery % usually means how much battery is left. What do you mean by battery assist here?
I’m confused by your question. I’m saying the battery level and what PAS I’m on for each test so you know how the bike behaves as the battery drains
Nice video, Im stuck between this, Aventon Level Commuter and Himiway. Whats your opinion?
I suggest the Ride1UP ;)
@@Ride1Up I bought 2 and my wife and I love them. I couldnt remove the top water bottle bolt and it broke(crossthreaded?) but other then that could not be happier and we test rode $7k bikes before pulling the trigger!! Awesome product for the price.
This is one of the better bikes I've tried for this price
Not sure if I wanted to plunge into a E-Bike, but given that some high end regular hybrid bikes are already $1000+ might as well get an E-Bike. That being said, I'm surprised a dynamo styled battery charger hasn't been engineered to help send a bit of charge to battery while your tires are spinning....
You would think that would be one of the first things they would add. I'm sure we'll see it soon enough
That’s basically what the motor is but it requires a reversing circuit and controller to switch it into generating mode under light braking. This would be a feature that the motor manufacturer would have to incorporate. It shouldn’t be too difficult but would add costs and this is a value engineered ebike
Where is that trail at 4:14?(!) And where is the ride at 3:34 as well? Kinda looks like between Bryce and Zion, but we'd really like to know EXACTLY what trails those are. (actually it'd be super cool if creators would annotate some of their more interesting spots for those of us curious types who explore and boondocks in motorhome RV's. THANKS if you can reply.
This is a canyon to south of Richfield Ut on your way to Beaver, I forget the exact name of the canyon but very pretty trail that goes for 15 miles
I'm considering this bike. However I can't park this bike outside and have to carry this to my apartment. Do you think it is doable daily? Carrying this bike up and down one floor level?
You'd get a workout for sure but it's doable
Might get more of a workout carrying it to your apt than you would on a 20 mile ride. 😄
Is the motor still 500w? Their website now says it's 750w sustained, and also says their controller peaks at 1000w.
Looks like they did upgrade it, nice!
Are these difficult to assemble? Considering purchasing one for my daily commute of 10 miles.
Takes around an hour if you've never done it before. I can knock em out in 20 min, the longest part is taking all the wrapping off
I'm debating on which bike to purchase it's between ride1up or the aventon level. Which one do you think is better? Hope I'm not putting you on the spot.
I only have experience with Ride1up so not sure what to tell you but this bike is killer, wouldn’t be disappointed
My apology to this reviewer. You made a very good video review of this bike. Sorry I called you Bryon because I really don't know your name. Everything else I said in my recent comment I'll stand by.
haha it's Mike, no worries ;)
Can you use the bike like a normal bike when the battery is dead?
Yes but it is heavy so you'll get burned out pretty quick even on the lowest gear
I would like to know if you are sponsored, or have affiliate links for ride1up.
I’ve got affiliate links. Every CZcamsr does :)
looks comp to KBO and comparisons?
I've only reviewed KBO's road bike so can't say but they wanna send me another model so may have a review of the one comparable to this coming up
Nice
Thanks for watching!
This or the AventonLevel?
Never tried the other brand so can’t say. Stick around, I’m sure I’ll review one soon
how tall are you? i'm looking at buying one of these?
I'm 5'11
whats the range throttle only?
Not sure, only did a test on PAS. In my experience, straight throttle produces about 5-10 miles less than PAS on the highest level
What country is this ??? Wondering Why You are riding into traffic flow ??
U S of A I’m a rebel!
How is this thing on hills?
Very good, best in this price range, I hit around 15 mph up a 12% grade
Your bike goes past 20 on straight throttle? I thought they were limited to 20 on throttle...
In the settings you can adjust it to a higher speed
The thing with these ebikes is I never hear anyone step forward and tell how they got in good shape/health since they purchased one.
You'd be surprised, there is a slight workout but really these wouldn't replace a workout it's more of an entertainment so instead of sitting down for a movie you take a ride
Are you able to just pedal without using the assist at all? If so I imagine you could get in shape with it
@@mattnichols2160 Yes.
Think of the thousands of people who would've never got any exercise at all if it wasn't for e-bikes.
Music doesn't add to the review, but I appreciate the review.
Agree to disagree :)
Quit complaining dude. You got a free review and you have to bitch about the music?
@@rcpmac I didn't solicit your foul response either.
anyone at 6'1" ride one of these? they only offer one frame size...
I'm 5'11 and felt kinda small on it, it's a big bike
How much Kmh?
Around 40kmh
@@ElectricRevolution 🥸👌
That noise though...
do you ship this bike to the United kingdom ?
Not sure, I'm just a reviewer, I'd contact the company directly
I think you mean 750w motor
I agree that this bike is a "beast" given its weight and bulk. Not sure it's much of a bargain / value, however.
I recently received a 700 and after assembly - including unsuccessful hunts for instructions online (the skimpy "user manual" that ships with the bike is incomplete) - I took the bike out for a test ride...
It is heavy, slow, not very ergonomic nor fun to ride and feels every bit like the ~ $300 bike drop shipped from China that the initial ride leads me to believe that it is.
I would avoid this bike.
I've ordered direct-to-consumer bikes before, including an e-bike via Walmart that was easier to assemble, a better ride, lighter (40lbs vs. 50+) and about 1/3 the price. It is hard to justify this bike and its reviews and I end up scratching my head and wondering if the same bike was ridden and/or where do I sign up to have the company pay me to market for them? If they paid well perhaps I'd distort the review to explain that, yes, it really does have a 500 watt hub motor that, although very sluggish in power levels 1 and 2, starts to kick in at 4. Sigh. I really wish this were the bike that reviewers say it is. Unfortunately I've nothing but buyer's remorse.
My recommendation: buy any of the competitors: either the ones for $600 - $700 from Amazon and Walmart, or the very solid Rad City. I can't see why this bike costs $1700+. It is not worth half that.
The "music" is too loud compared to the voice, aside from being painful to listen to.
A far better ebike, with a stronger motor, better quality build, automotive grade finish, and built by a real factory (not Chinesium like R1Up uses) is the Aventon LEVEL. No they are not clones of each other. At all. Other than basic outline of frame. Besides that Aventon's Levels can be bought LOCALLY (over 200 dealers nationwide) where you can top notch assembly, and professional service after the sale. You wont get ANY of that with R1Up, who is the least professional on line seller of ebikes you will ever meet, after the sale. I bought one, and sent it back, bc too many problems that their people did not know how to resolve. Bought the Aventon Level after that, and its just been heads and shoulders better than the 700. Get with the REAL bike company, Aventon, who was building real bikes before R1up ever came in existence, as a mere importer slapping their logo on some POS 3rd party chinesium made, no QC, and no support.
But doesn't the Level and the 700 both use a 500w motor?
