Scandroid, the modern Synthwave project from Detroit based artist/producer Klayton, best known for his multi-genre project Celldweller, is Klayton’s love letter to the 80s.
The debut, self-titled album features 15 tracks, ranging from the driving instrumental energy of "Destination Unknown," to melodic vocal tracks like "Awakening With You," "Aphelion," and "Neo-Tokyo," rounded out with the cinematic epics "2517" & "Singularity." As a child of the 80s, Klayton has also included a cover of the classic Tears For Fears song "Shout," that he has been patiently waiting to cover since he first heard the song on U.S. radio in 1985. The digital album concludes with a bonus remix from synthwave artist Waveshaper. The 72 minute album depicts themes of a cyberpunk future where humans and sentient robots struggle to find a connection in their dystopian world.

So this is the original...Its beautiful...
I love this song.
scandroid for cyberpunk 2077
I'd rather have other works from Klayton in that game - not that I think it's bad, but because it really doesn't fit a more ... 'modern' interpretation of cyberpunk. Something from a celldweller album or his ambient works would be cool as hell!
>Assuming it'll come out while we're still alive
I'm surprised none of you have figured out yet that 2077 isn't part of the title, it's the year of release.
The joke, it flew right over your head. Woosh
I think we should start a petition for Scandroid to be on the OST for Cyberpunk or at least the next Shadowrun game.
Citadel is waiting for you
You know you're into synthwave when this is the 4th song you own that's called "neo-tokyo"
or a weeb
@@TempleofBrendaSong Weebs only like straight up anime.
Synthwave is a music genre that goes hand in hand with the cyberpunk genre.
You get American cyberpunk and Japanese cyberpunk.
American cyberpunk is mostly associated with 80's films and Miami palms (outrun)
Japanese cyberpunk is mostly associated with holograms, futuristic cars, skyscrapers and just futuristic dystopias in general, and is the most modern form of cyberpunk.
@@dee23gaming
American Synthwave is have Big Moon and mountain
@@dickynurahman2292 That's called the outrun aesthetic
@@dee23gaming Actually, both the American and Japanese cyberpunk movements are about the same age, both beginning sometime during the 1970s and then taking shape over the course of the 80s. Japanese cyberpunk actually started in the underground music scene in the late 70s as part of the punk movement and quickly spread to other mediums. The manga _Akira_ (1982) and its anime adaptaion in 1988 are probably the most iconic Japanese cyberpunk productions of all time. Meanwhile, Western cyberpunk started as a literary movement inspired by New Wave science fiction from the 60s and 70s, which then gained traction as a genre during the 80s with such works as _Blade Runner_ (1982) and William Gibson's _Neuromancer_ (1984).
"Hmm, video looks a bit fuzzy, better put it up to 1080p..."
"...Oh."
Fang two years later it got me aswell :D ironically yout comment was the reason i checked the resolution some... Strange :D
"Salvation hovers in the sky"
@@roboter3254 lol in this case salvation lies in comments
we all got got, even me 4 years later... still looks amazing though
There was like 2 years after I had a stroke that I was trapped in my head due to communication barriers in my brain being severed. I couldn't communicate feelings at all, and I hardly understood a word people said anymore. I heard them talk, but the words were scrambled. For some reason, a lot of music was still easy to understand. So all I did was listen to music to find ways to communicate with people. In that time, I listened to Scandroid a LOT and built a whole world inside my head to this as a soundtrack and visited there when things got too heavy in life as I rebuilt my brain without rehab because no one believed I had a stroke at 22 and wouldn't order me a CAT scan for proof until 2 years later I started having seizures and was sent to a neurologist. I was alone learning how to talk and walk again. This track became the foundation that really helped me get by a bizarre and hard part of life. It's a place I still go to get away. Thanks, Scandroid 💜💕
You absolute legend. How are you doing now?
Cool story. A CAT scan isn't the diagnostic test for a stroke.
Saving this
@@NightTitan575 It's a scan for both strokes and seizures. What a ping pong
It sounds like everyone who denied you treatment should be fired and jailed for negligence and barred from ever practicing medicine again.
I want my hair to be like this omg please Klayton drop your hairstyling tips already
Citizens of Neo Tokyo hear this in your sleep and know your freedom 💎
This is the song I will listen to when I leave Earth in a spaceship.
2024, still here ❤
this song helped me endure many late nights with my data structures and algorithms class
I found this today and i am genuinely shocked this doesn’t have more views, this song is AMAZING
Не пропиаренная вот и все.
This seems like amazing night driving music...
No one on the road but you, blaring this, goin' real fucking fast. Yes pleaaaase.
Soon as I heard the first few bars I was like "This is goin on my driving mix TONIGHT."
Yep I got my best friend into this song and he refuses to let me play the song during the day, lol.
Except where I live, even the most deserted highway is heavily patrolled by police, all too eager to write you an expensive ticket.
This entire album, 2 in the morning, my Tesla, and the highway. Yes.
@@zoidsfan77 this dude is encouraging dangerous driving, maybe some of ye need a ticket or two..
Now I realise what you were trying to say, in plain sight. The future of society is bright and blight
This is the anthem of cyberpunk music!!
If Skynet ever becomes real, we all know Klayton'll be fine. He's already part robot it seems.
Perfection comes with a price.
Skynet is real...
G0DM0NSTER
everyone will be fine, they just NEED TO REMEMBER TO INSTALL AN OFF SWITCH.
Klayton is an unseen Cyberdyne model of the Terminator...
...Skynet was a software AI that effectively decentralized itself the moment it was released. At that point the only way to stop it would be to shut down everything that can store data.
This is amazing, it's like Bladerunner, Tron and 80's Anime combined.
I just watched the movie Ghost in the Shell .
It instantly reminded me of this
The word you guys are looking for is Cyberpunk.
Cherna Gast got that right.
MyFaceIsMahShield ok another good comparison.
G. Yeah that too.
This is a beautiful example of how the 80s lives forever in this genre of music. This song and the album is so timeless it can go back 30-40 years from now and still be the future!!!!!!
Okay, I've got a theory on Klayton's cyberpunk world in regards to the 3 personas:
Circle of Dust is in that world's equivalent to modern day, and explains how everything ended up going to shit
Celldweller exists in between CoD and Scandroid, and tells of how we developed interstellar travel and ended up fracturing into feudal clans across the stars
Scandroid is the farthest in the future, and tells of how artificial intelligence reached true sentience and caused humanity to wipe itself out with war
Interesting theory there. I see as Scandroid before Celldweller, but that's cause Scandroid seems limited to earth for now. We'll see if that changes.
Make sense. A lyric from pro bots and the robophobes said that the 1st born sentient android was named atom 7K. That means that scandroid's neo Tokyo must take place at or near the year 7000 AD. But the full sanctions and the war might happen another 1000 or 2000 years beyond that period there are so many questions that are left unanswered or unasked.
I have a question are you guys into NFT's and do you know who Alex Becker is? Please help me solve his puzzle that he has on his Twitter it has something to do with Neo Tokyo or maybe you can direct me where I can learn more about what your writing about
@@sethraelthebard5459 the opening track is 2517, brotien
Klayton's music is out of this world
I haven't heard a Celldweller track in a long time.
Glad I stumbled upon this! This has all the essence of the "Celldweller" album that introduced me to Klayton so long ago. :D
Greetings from Neo Tokyo
about 4-5 years ago a mate of mine randomly sent me this.
I still make it a point to thank him at least once a year.
Official song of NT ❤️
This has to be related to the Becker tweet - Who's with me?
how did i miss out on this?!?
Try the Dance With The Dead remix
All that matters is you found us all here, mate!
Better late than never! ^_^
agreed. I'm just getting to it now
I cant explain it correctly... Heards like a kind of magic. Fantastick sounds which awakening my dreams about 80-90. Thank u Klyaton so much. From agressive Russia with love ;-))))
With all this massive world building and the Scandroid storyline pretty obviously being set in the same universe as End Of An Empire, I'm just waiting for a video game or a movie or another book to come out, really. There's massive potential here. I'm loving the new songs so far.
I'd LOVE to see a graphic novel of Scandroid, I feel like Scandroid would work really well in that format :D
I'd be all over a Scandroid graphic novel.
This looks fucking amazing
Thanks!
animattronic How do we know it's you and do you have proof?
My Icon is on the side of the bike 2:22 - I've done other stuff for FiXT as well.
For your information. Animattronic works for FiXT in more things like End of an Empire, Blue Stahli, some video lyrics. And he also make great music like Celldweller and Scandroid
I'm in a cross roads. I listen to this music, I get the urge to listen to the dance with the dead remix... so I got for it...
then I get the urge to listen to the original... the then the remix again... infinity loop
This is amazing. Scandroid is going to be one masterpiece of an album.
Tai jau tikrai :D
Mindaugas Janušauskas true.
I love that old retro futuristic synthwave style of the 80s :)
The 80's will return one day, in 2080, that's if we bring back the 80s for the cyberpunk era, if it turns out that way.
I can't get enough of this track. The whole album is great but this....I'm just beside myself. I literally leave earth listening to this.
Dream ov N30 T0Ky0 2Nite!
My introduction to synthwave, and my journey into underground music. Came across this a few years later, and I couldn't be more grateful.
AKIRA has been awakened. Neo-Tokyo will turn to ashes once more.
WHAT A GREAT SONG! More, more MOOOOAAAR!!!
Can't believe i found Scandroid in 2016, really feels more 80s/90s with his stuff~! Love the heavy and sheer darkness in this song.
Excellent!!!
Damn you Alex and Ellio
Dream for life: Listening to this at the Afterlife club, in Omega!
I like the Dance with the Dead remix but I never realized the original was this amazing
Citizens, we finally have an official soundtrack.
Amazing track. Thank you Scandroid!
ok
There's a cover by another band (Dance with the Dead) it's a good listen too.
Klayton大好き😭
素晴らしいタイトルをありがとう🇯🇵

if they ever make a cyberpunk 2077 sequel they need to make this the theme song but set it in japan and have a big primary against arasaka

Grand Rising Citizens!
"Rainfall washes away the memories in binary" - possibly a Blade runner reference?
"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain"
Still sat here listeneing to this and all other Scandroid tracks gettin' myself pumped up and ready for Cyberepunk 2077 lol. Deffo gonna be trawling Night City with Klayton blasting over my sound system :p
Interlinked.
Studying japanese, listening to Klayton master piece, live the epicness! Enjoy the music,
Maybe it's just me or maybe not, but when I listen to any of Klayton's projects, it feels like everything fits into place. It's so oddly satisfying.
He is a master at what he does.
My goodness your doing it!! He's coming to life! I'm in tears 😭 thank you thank you!! It's a wish on a black star I made years ago wishes come true ❤️
Can't get bored of replaying..
This music keeps me awake in the night.
The most creative musician to blend rock and electronic music, Klayton is awesome.
I guess you haven't heard of Dance With The Dead. Lol
I would wish I had more ears to hear this
Shadowrun wet dreams,
you rock Klayton
He managed to make this both retro & cyberpunk
And again welcome to 80*. Yes like!
celldweller you genius.
Боже, неужели 3 года прошло? А как будто вчера просматривал этот клип.
Since 2006 it has been my dream to go to Tokyo Japan and this song makes me reignite that dream
This track is simply superb, this voice and music immerse me in a better world
This deserves a kickass sci-fi movie!
Klayton cumplió con su promesa... regresarnos a aquella época hermosa con un glorioso Synthwave lml
No idea why this song isn't dominating the radio stations.
Nice Circle of Dust reference in the video
I dunno, I feel like it was unneeded.
I agree, Killroy, since all of his musical outlets are part of the same fictional world it only makes sense. Especially considering the CoD collaboration on Probots and Robophobes.
I've loved your work since the beginning. You've always been a big inspiration to me and in the wake of losing my father this week - my best friend and biggest source of motivation in life - I am trying to embrace the horizon and focus on moving above and beyond, not sinking into darkness. "Let go / Take Flight / Dreams begin to reignite" indeed. Thank you for your music.
These vids make me want to play a GTA-like game set in a cyberpunk world.
Kacper Borsuk far cry blood dragon is as far as you can get to it
Kacper Borsuk try Saints Row 4
try sleeping dogs, not cyberpunk per se, but basically GTA set in tokyo
Kacper Borsuk now THAT is probably the mark of the beast because it will be so awesome it will consume peoples' lives xD
Try Scrapland ;]
I can't believe that Scandroid got me into the Cyberpunk genre in 2016. Thank you Klayton
I love this song. Never knew Celldweller was Scandroid, etc. Good job Klayton. You make some damn fine work man!! Love your work!
Wait he what???
Holy freaking sh*t, this is beyond amazing
WoW!
Kingsize I know right !
VolkeR VoN KreiteR my thoughts exactly !
Didn't notice the Circle of Dust logo on the hover-bike till near the end lol.
Chris F Maybe there will be a Circle of Dust Remix of it
wouldn't be surprised if time, love, dreams, and death end up being there lol
Or Red is just a CoD fan :)
I'm neglecting to see a Celldweller logo...
Also, just saw Outland Industries in the background.
I love the Dance With The Dead remix as much as anyone else, but from what I've played so far of it the original song here would make an amazing ending credits song for Cyberpunk 2077.
This song is so beautiful that it makes me cry
Thank you for making this wonderful music Scan!
Neo Tokyo Tournament 🔥🔥
Though it betrays the impression I'd like to leave on the world, I can't get enough '80s themed synthpop.
Gives me Cyberpunk, Blade Runner and most of all AKIRA vibes.
Cyberpunk 2020 plus Bladerunner 2049 plus Ghost in the Shell = this track and video.
That's kinda neat, Clayton looks like an old fictitious character I drew when I was 6...Kinda neat seeing what that character would look like in real life, and it looks badass!
This premiered yesterday on my 20th birthday! Perfect timing!
i like how all dudes lyrics are lyrics from other songs... scandroid for president 2024
Back to eighties , great sounds, congratulations!!!celldweller
Dude, this song. This FUCKING song.
I love how you can see the Outland Industries tower in the background...
Love this. Why aren't there millions of views???? The music is perfect, the videos are awesome. Great all around!
I just love the references to other Scandroid songs! Amazing song, I love it! ^^
See You There!
Clayton is epic scandroid celldweller circle of dust and clayton the most famous musician the masses don't know exists
He has made so much music for movies and video games it is unreal
Scandroid is the reason why I got introduced into the Cyberpunk genre back in like 2017. I'm so thankful for this
Let’s go nt for life! 80s shimmy gang
I like the music but what I want to know is how to nail that 80's aesthetic the editor has going on. I can't nail it in friggin' Photoshop let alone video editing. Kudos!
Brandon Medeiros Record your video to a VHS tape and then re-record it via software with your computer. That's all I can think of.
I used Red Giant's Universe plugin series. Check em out!
There are a lot of Easter Eggs :D
Loved the album. World needs more electronic music with full-parted vocals.
Love the Cyber tone of music.
lol. Second verse is just all references to the other songs.
This might never be seen given the nature of CZcams but I just wanted to say a massive thank you for this album (and its follow-up) for getting me so into synthwave/outrun/80s-revival, whatever you feel like labelling it. Can't imagine my music taste without it now.
Synthwave masterpiece
I want this as a game!
