This is a quick video of a MWS Supercharged 5.0l in a VR commodore, the car has a stock engine that has had a cam, springs and a set of custom head gaskets. Car also has a rebuilt 4l60e trans with a std converter, 3.08 LSD diff and a full custom exhaust. For any details on cost, contact Mark via email

I have a vt 9c1 5.0 and this looks like just the thing for me. Grouse video. I wish there were more straight-forward clearly explained vids like this one. Super effort, that.
Two factors to consider in this case; what's the rules on RHD where you live, and emissions standards. Bear in mind that this engine isn't a Chevrolet, it's a 5 litre V8 designed and built by Holden. They weigh about 90 pounds less than a Chevy small block, but can handle just as much abuse. Can be bored out to 355 cubic inches, and the whole car tips the scales at slightly over 3000lbs. They also have optional independent rear suspension, ABS brakes. 4 wheel discs are standard on all models
Yep, rebuilt with some stronger parts and a mild shift kit, stock recon convertor.
Love it. I have a VS11 Clubby would love the supercharger on it.

That's alot of help thanks, but unfortunately I am looking at a R34 Skyline now but if that doesn't work out I'll be in the lookout for a VX SS so either way the V6 idea is in the bin. But I have passed the information to a mate and he said he hasn't looked back. So it wasn't all for nothing. :)

Hey mate im buying "another" v8 soon and will be looking at doing extensive mods, ur a bit of a drive from perth but i grew up in the wheatbelt im thinkin id like to support a wheatbelt garage not to mention you seem do do a fantastic job.

Pretty impressive for the Eaton, i went with the Whipple serial #001 from Yella Terra
with a 6 speed road race manual conversion using the Tremec TR 6060 Tranny
and 3.73 lsd. just youtube yella terra 2.4 whipple.

can you tune these engines/gearbox with the computer to sharpen up the gear changes? the auto gear changes sound a little sloppy in the 0-100 scenario

That noise would sound great coming out of my 38 chev...It's got VN 5.0 commy stuff on board...Yella Terra say they can supply a set up with a 60% power increase...could you tell me the numbers please.?..great job by the way.

@marek0086 ive decided now to go a different route because of funds so im only doing cam, exhaust and cold air so the insurance(im assuming) would be cheaper than a V8

How much torque did it have?
@marek0086 i would do that if i could mate, but as i would still be on my red p plates it would cost me more in the long run including the ls2 swap and later insurance.
G'day Mark, i have a 93 VR commodore with the 5.0l in it (manual) whats a rough cost for a Supercharger conversion and a tune like this cost? It currently already has an Exhaust System and Extractors.

I have a nice standard 5L VR Commodore wagon that I don't want to let go of but the motor has 400 on the clock but still no smoke as it is serviced every 5000 k. Will the engine require a complete rebuild? If so, would you recommend stroking it for your newer supercharger?

Plus even with an auto, instead of having 123drnp etc you can put a custom setup in and have 12345 sort of like a manual but without a clutch you can click it up and way you go with a bit my guts haha but i forgot the actual terminology or what its actually called, Dom's Charger in the first fast and the furious had it i'm pretty sure. so more fun that way to without having an actual manual.

@marek0086 if i everdo unfortunately crash the insurace company would say that because i didnt tell them i have upgraded the car with a performance modification they wont pay me out as this performace boost could be a cause of the crash

hey ghetto dont be silly dude go and get your boss to write you up a letter stating you need a v8 due to always towing and its just a part of the job and you might be lucky and get an examtion.all else fails fet your medium riggid truck license and then the p plate laws dont apply ...with the whole v8 and power to weight ratio
the 3.8 is a boat anchor, throw it away, put a stock 3.6 in, only decent motor Holden have used since they stopped using the 308
