• ProducerMichael Q&A #2...
One of the most regular comments I receive on yacht walk through videos relates to the zero speed stabilisers. On an odd occasion I have had to film a yacht when the stabilisers are not working...but more often than not viewers have unrealistic expectations of what these stabilisers can do.... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I like the vlog. Your colleagues running in and out of the setting make it even more authentic and relatable ;)
It was a nice little touch, i noticed that made the whole thing authentic i agree
I concur. Please don’t be mad or throw them overboard. Love the Rolex story.
Its what they are paid to do.
This kind of vlogs are a breath of fresh air.. and quite informative as well. Keep them up
Salvaged the deal, dropped the commission, gained a watch-with a story. That is probably more valuable today than the lost commission ! Nicely done !!
This is the Internet feeding me more Internet... David knows about Producer Michael?? LOL. I've been following him from not quite day one but getting on that way. Anyway, he might not have gotten on with his old $30m Benetti superyacht but buying a $20m Embraer Praetor 600 jet airplane has cheered him right up... bless!!
Thanks for watching Darth! In the next vlog I shall be responding to one of your comments!
@@Yachtsforsaleblog and now I'm scared !! :-)
The format of these Vlogs works well. Remember that the audience is interested in your work as well as the yachts. In effect you are interacting with us (all 180k). When you see other vlogs reviewing yachts where it sounds like someone reading from a brochure it makes me wince.
At least those guys speak. The ones that crucify me are the ones with a few fast pan & scan drone shots, a few interior scan shots that might as well be a photograph being jiggled, all to some overly-gained (over-loud) freeware trance music that's trying to be Discount Darude.
You would probably like Nautistyles and Aquaholics. You may already know about them but if not give them a try.
That was very generous of you as a working stiff, to kick in an equal amount as the illionaires did to close the sale.
You always manage to make any story enjoyable. Thanks you so much for all your insights and explanations. 👍
Hi David. Stabilisation on any yacht will "reduce" pitch and roll. Older displacement yachts have a heavy keel. Always look forward to your factory tours and "how to buy" series. Another great video thanks 😊
Very informative. I'd love to see more of these types of videos!
Producer Michael is a fun bloke and channel to watch indeed! I really enjoyed your story about the watch, and I am sure you have many other interesting ones. The yachting business is amazing, and with it comes a lot of different experiences and great stories to tell. Wouldn't mind a few more in the future!
Love the anecdote about how you got your Rolex.
Your channel is a great insight no just into yachts, but the whole world around it.
But the roll is one of the reasons why even if I had the money I’d have issues getting a yacht. My wife gets sooo sea sick, I’m not even sure zero speed stabilisers would prevent it.
Though I suppose could get some, but have them off, when ever the wife was on board. Then I would get to enjoy it to myself 😂
Martigan Uk, you should look at a yacht called "Silver Cloud" she is a Swath yacht that the owner had built because his wife got sea sick. They have travelled the world and she has not been sea sick once. Swath yachts are becoming more popular because of there stability in high seas. Swath boats started as pilot boats and crew transfer boats in the North Sea.
That’s an excellent Rolex story, I’m on a waitlist myself at the moment for a GMT II
Totally agree on Producer Michael channel, following for about 2 yrs or so. Good fun and lots of info!
Great vlog, mixture of great informative detail and a fantastic story… perfect! Keep these coming.
Verily I enjoyed this video! Both the clarification (or, re-clarification) of the differences between stabilizers and gyro-stabilizers, as well as why some boats don't have them, and the background story of your watch were great. I will iterate what has also been stated that seeing your co-workers / colleagues in the background made this video even better.
As for Producer Michael, I saw two videos of him on the NautiStyles channel and that was more than enough for me. His style is just not my type. I'm looking forward to your next video, of course!
Love the videos. I think this type of video is a nice way to create more of a dialogue with your audience. I very much appreciate and love understanding more about yachts
Oddly, I'd never really considered peoples expectations of stabbies, having a sailing background myself. It never dawned on me that peeps would assume you'd be more or less still. Curiouser and curiouser.
Nice anecdote about the Rolex. The grin on your face shows what that act meant to you. 👍
I remember pictures of the France Cruiser, not a rimple in the coffee cup on the middle stern deck, they show them time to time. In 45 years sailing I never had a vessel not rolling or stamping in the waves.
I am so happy to find your channel. You do such a great job and you educate so well. The only problem now is that I will have to put everything on hold until I have seen every video on this channel.
Great change of pace. The stories behind yachts are sometimes as interesting as the yachts themselves.
producer michael's most expensive purchase has to be the embraer praetor 600 now lol. His channel has amazing content i'm subbed.
Great style of vlog. Entertaining watch story. What more could a viewer ask for. A yacht, of course...
Great story about your Rolex. Also really like this style of vlog and agree it's good to see you in your natural office environment with colleagues passing by. Just tell them not to look so scared it's just normal business.
Loved the story on how your watch about. As for Producer Michael, I've watched most of his videos, and he was told on one of the yacht videos that he did, which he has done videos on two different yachts, that the gyro stabilizer would hold the yacht completely still from rolling, and I wanted to tell him that they do eliminate a lot of the rolling, but they will not completely eliminate it. lol. You should send him a video on something like a nice used RIVA 88 Folgore, something very sporty with lots of carbon fiber. I enjoy the ones that tried selling him that yacht, but I knew right away that it wasn't his "taste". lol. He's a Ferrari type of guy,. So it would take a Ferrari type of yacht to catch his attention.
He has also been talking about buying a home in Florida. :))
If you caught the aside in his superyacht chat, you will hear he had a Cigarette racing boat and he DIDN'T get seasick in that, only on the slower cruiser.
What happened to his Cigarette? Somehow he managed to sink it. No details were given.
@@darthkek1953 A general stereotype response would be that the rich guy raced it, lost control and either it hit something or he flipped it. I've seen several CZcams videos of people doing that with brand new sports cars and I'd imagine the mentality is the same for a cigarette boat. Granted, that's a blanket statement, but that'd be my initial guess without more information.
This video was very cool. The tech info and the story about your watch but the people in the background and tour reaction was great
David these style of vlogs are first rate and the office staff make the scene and the Rolex story is the icing on the cake.
Two fun facts with the BlackBerry:
1) I am still using one.
2) The founder of BlackBerry recently took delivery of his yacht "Artefact" which has a bit of an unusual design.
But back to the main topic: While most people think of stabilizers for motor yachts there are also retractable fin stabilizers for sailing yachts since 2014 (and no I am not talking about flopper stoppers here :-D). Though information on the retractable fin stabilizers (DMS AntiRoll) and how well they actually work is hard to find.
Just googled it .. I hate to say this but what an ugly design .. takes a very specific taste to fall in love with it
I like this style of vlog and love the story of how you came by your watch!
Yes, I like this style of video. I am glad you did not edit out the young lady coming onto frame. That was funny.
Back to stabilizers. I don't know what people expect on a yacht at sea. It is a yacht at sea after all. It will never be the same as having a cocktail in your back porch. The rocking and rolling is part of the enjoyment. Dammit I paid for the boat feel!! I am always amused when brokers walk into a master and exclaim that people will think they are at home. I don't want to feel like I am at home. I want to feel like I am on a yacht!
Another great video David.
Love the story about your watch . You should tell more stories from your wealth of experience in the yachting industry
Well done. Interesting info on the stabilizers was unaware exactly how they worked
thank you
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great video and a great story David. On the subject of stabilizer's, there are many different types out there. Fixed, quantum zero speed, folding and the latest although not that new is the spinning stabilizer. Folding stabilizer's that fold back into the hull have been around for many years on commercial ships and indeed cruise ships and have a place on explorer yachts that intend to visit the polar regions where there is a lot of ice.. Any chance that you could do a video dedicated to the various types and there uses?. And of course there suitability to what type of yacht. Thanks again David for a great production and nice to see your team "Photo Bombing" lol
Always informative. Thanks.
Love the vlog, love the channels, and I love how you handle the less than courteous commenters as well. Thank you!
Great video 📹 as always. I watch ⌚ all Producer Michael's videos. Great fun. He has done a few yachts lately.
Love it David, especially the added personal story.
There is very little point having fin stabilizers on a planing hull unless you plan to cover significant distances at displacement speeds in it. Gyro stabilizers though can make all the difference at anchor to a pleasant day especially in busy anchorages where other craft are moving through. Nice story about the watch David.
They can be quite noisy on a smaller yacht.
Love the Vlog! Great watch story...thanks for sharing it.
That’s the best story of being given a Rolex that I’ve ever heard! Thanks for sharing the memory.
Great vlog - loved the Rolex story. Please do more like this - you must have a load of stories from when you sold expensive yachts. It would be good to hear a few. Thanks.
Love your channel and I have commented a couple on things. Your new direction is wonderful as it becomes all encompassing. There is a lot of chatting about maintenance, but could you talk about refitting a yacht? Costs, what it entails and how often in a yachts life? Thank you
Very much enjoyed this vlog contents and style. Great Rolex story. Been wearing mine daily going on 30+ years.
I like these short info videos. Could you do more talks about what to think about when buying, and owning a yacht motor or sail that is owner-operator sized?
Hi David, great story! I think you've earned yourself a Rolex by all of your efforts. You really deserved a bonus wristwatch.
The Rolex story made me smile. There are honorable people out there. Nice videos, thanks for sharing.
Great story about your Rolex, the little trivialities in life 🌞
Zero speed stabilizers are certainly an outstanding achievement a catamaran or SWATH wouldn't need 😎
👍👍👍
This Vlog was very very informative and yes, I remember Blackberry phones well.
You can actually test and feel the gyro effect if you have a bicycle wheel; hold the wheel by the axle on both sides and up in front of you and try to turn it perpendicular to the wheels direction which is easy obviously, but now have somebody spin the wheel fast while you hold it up and now try and turn it the same way you did before and you will feel that there is now a small but noticeable resistance to you effort to change the wheels position and that's how gyro stabilizers work:-)
Great story! Thats a VERY nice watch.
Here’s a thought that ties in both stories for you. Is that model of Rolex a self winding model? One that winds itself up by a swinging weight? What if you could scale it up and use the pitch n roll of a boat to spin up a fly wheel to power generators. A Self-sufficient electric boat. Maybe not enough power for a planing vessel, but a displacement hull? I believe Devon University are working on it.
Fantastic to see the production ramped up. Loving the content and production.
Ever since an episode of Super Yacht Captain where he lamented recent repair work on the new fin stabilisers blowing up, the bloody things have become the bane of my imaginary yachting existence.
My watch is a Casio Super Illuminator. It has a resin band. It's on its second band and third battery.
You vlog is constantly improving. This one was a really great one, very informative and also interesting with that little personal gimmick you put in (the Rolex). Great job! From my own experience with sales it has become clear that potential customers react positively when the sales representative opens up a bit about his or her personal life, adds a personal touch to it. Some of course would say that is somewhat unprofessional, and they'll be right if it is too much or too private yet hit that fine balance like you did here and you'll are bound to succeed.
Great vlog, I'm always up for a good anecdote :) Oh, and please tell your colleagues to just walk through the shot as needed, it's not like it ruins the clip.
Stabilizers? Isn't that why you go by sea? I love the roll. It's also very nice to see people working in an office.
What a great gesture from the buyer, to reward you with a GMT Master II 👏
Hope to see you do something together with Producer Michael !!
Along comes CZcams, and my oh my see what you've become! Well done, I love the vlog.
Great story, Abdul is a very honorable man.
Great blog and fantastic story many thanks
Producer Michael's next yacht purchase is apparently being advised by a few different people including a couple who are both captains and advocates for the "live-aboard lifestyle" as they do with their own boat in Marina Del Rey; the "Nauti Styles" CZcams channel. Rico (the husband; a yacht manager, and Brig tender dealer) might have oversold the stability of a seakeeper gyro when they had Producer Michael on a Prestige 630 for a look around some weeks ago. Maybe next up to show Producer Michael should be that (iirc) 93ft Viking they toured once that had both hydraulic fins and a gyro? Because maths tells me two stabilization systems should be twice as stable... that's how that works, right?
Great content…. Watch story is classic….. gets my approval!
Great channel and great video I love a nice story.
The story of how you get your Rolex is amazing.
Keep up the great videos
Thank you for sharing the story about your Rolex watch. What a lovely story!
Thank you David for story and the answer of your watch.....feel free to drop a image of your watch on the Facebook blog "Drinking coffee and talking Watches". Your story of your watch is amazing. Also I love the Ferretti Yacht and Rolex "A gift of time". Beautiful!! Just as your channel just beautiful with time. Lastly please encourage N&J to revamp the video Classic Yacht Trafalgar. That soundless video sucks and do no justice to it beauty....Bravo Zulu!
If I understand correctly, the primary function of a stabilizer is to dampen rolling from side to side and pitching up and down. It does not have any way to stop a yacht from pitching up and down as it makes way along the ocean. I mean, no matter how sophisticated the suspension on a car is, the car is still going to have to ride up and down on a hilly road. A boat is supported by the water. It has to go with the flow.
I loved all the "guest appearances" in this video 🤣.
Loved the vlog!
Very informative video and a great story too. If I ever get to that stage in my life to be able to buy a super yacht, and you close the deal for me, I'll buy you a porsche, lamborghini or a ferrari. Whichever rocks your boat :)
oh hey -- I asked about your watch on the "All About Ocean Alexander Yachts" video you posed in June! Thanks for answering! :)
David, content from you is always welcome, the odd vlog would be good
Loved the watch story :)
Nice very nice, keep them coming.
Loved the Rolex story! Well done! (And thanks for the video 😁👍)
About Producer Michael: I follow him for years now and I know that story (must have been a very big yacht because last year he got his custom made plane). Its seems its Itching again, because he had 2 visits on a yacht lately (obvious a smaller one). First one looks like a Zeelander.
Love the vlog - more please :o)
Great video
Not to hurt your feelings, Producer Michael Channel is my Number 1 CZcams Channel
Tho you and Aquaholiq Shares number one Yacht Channels
I have always wondered in regard to Gyro stabilizers: How many do the different size yachts have, and where are they located?
Great story of your watch. 😊
Does the added weight of the gyroscope make much difference to fuel economy of the yacht?
Very interesting!
I am currently looking at a CZcams video of "N80#01 walk -through" and no matter how beautiful this yacht maybe. Without audio i might as well be touring a mausoleum. Epic Fail!
Greate video.
Like the teknisk part and the story
Loved this vlog
Great information about the stabilizer. I really think that all yachts which have the ability to navigate from one area to the other (Europe to the Caribbean) should have this equipment.
The story about the Rolex is very nice. :-)
great video
Loved the Rolex story! Thanks for that.
That was a great story!
Moral of the story for Producer Mike, always take your toys out for a test ride before cutting a check. Even billion dollar, 1,300 ft, 200,000 ton ocean liners and cruise ships are going to roll in open water.
Can you tell me what is better the sea keeper or a quantum mag lift stabilizer?
david i absolutely love the chan! so interesting & the yacht reviews are incredible. i am not a watch guy, know nothing of the value, once in a while i will wear a paracord bracelet lol. but what i took away from this vid. is your Rolex cost you 50k in the end ? lol
Class video
As you discuss stabilizing in this very informative video, I had a fairly unrelated question popping up in my brain.
As I assume that American yachts are build using imperial measurements, as well as their American appliances, engines etc. how inconvenient is it to make alterations in the Mediterranean/ Europe. I mean the stuff needs different voltage, has weird dimensions and so on.
On one side they do build some very nice yachts with a very practical interior design, on the other hand when all upgrades and services are more complicated i.e. expensive, their yachts are not really that interesting for the European market?
That’s a good Rolex story , sure beats buying your first one 😁
I agree a great story, but in reality he lost 50k of commission, so you could argue it cost him 50k to buy?😉🤣
Still, very honourable to gift it after promising too. 👍
@@madplumpy1 I’d think of it more like he invested 50k in his future career 😉
Brilliant 😊
Love a good story!
How much commission do you generally make from a sale?
Lovely story!
Cool intro!
