      I had no idea weapons had STR requirements so anything above 6 seemed like a waste. I haven’t tested the impact of that on the ballistic fist, but I’m going to assume it does something. How deep into the Legion questline is the safehouse? I’m thinking just going OWB instead of Dead Money to get 10 STR and then staying at critical rad poisoning assuming the requirement actually does something. This was the first time I played the game and it shows, I think I even skipped super slam just because it has a melee requirement.

    You say the fight with Rawr gives you nothing, but it gives you on of the best unarmed weapons in the game. You also missed THE best unarmed weapon, the Industrial hand. Ingnoring all DT/DR and doing INSANE crit damage, like out of this world with a well built character. The best part is its a fast attacking weapon and things like the weapon binding ritual work on it.

    I just started a chemless unarmed character, but with some additional rules: No armor allowed, not even stat boosting things like Lucky Shades. You are naked, and may wear a hat of your choice and/or sunglasses for minor style points. No sneaking allowed, you deal with your problems head on with punches. No companions allowed, a real man doesn't need other people to do jobs for him. No speech successes allowed (though I am running More Perks and I grabbed the perk that gives you automatic criticals for 10 seconds after FAILING a speech check) because you should be talking your way into fights, not out of them. Lastly, no regular medicine i.e stimpaks allowed, you must use tribal healing methods and food/drink instead. I've beaten New Vegas with a wide variety of builds but I've never done what is essentially a naked tribal pugilist, punching his way through the game. The only thing I'm worried about so far is robots.

    • @poormansproductions2402
      @poormansproductions2402  Před 11 měsíci

      Sounds good, although I don't think you can tank a single legendary deathclaw swipe without armor. Other than that, you should be able to handle everything else. Robots shouldn't give you too much trouble, you can circle strafe all of them except securitrons if I remember correctly.

    • @wowsnav
      @wowsnav Před 11 měsíci

      @@poormansproductions2402 Interesting, I don't think I've ever tried circling robots at close range. Deathclaws are going to hit hard, especially with no chems, but I am hoping to rely on the combination of Ranger Takedown + Super Slam to knock one down and never let him stand up again. Ranger Takedown is annoying to land due to needing a backwards power attack, but Super Slam will do the same thing with punches and a bit of luck. I've also been floating the idea of picking up Rad Child for the 8 hp/sec regen at deadly radiation, I will have Travel Light as well as an additional move speed perk for running around as fast as possible, so if I can survive even one deathclaw hit, I can maybe run around and dodge his leap attacks until I'm healed enough to attempt more knockdowns.
      No chems really changes how you play things when you can't chug Med-X+Slasher+Battle Brew+Rushing Water to berserk your way through tough encounters.

      @@tvph because in most builds there isn't "Crit Builds VS High Damage no Crit Builds" because Crits don't impede high Damage, they simply add to it. This is mostly dumb miscommunication from the part of the game though.
      In the case of Heavy Handed specifically it's just basic math though, along with in-game testing, for most weapons if you got Better Criticals + Finesse + 8 Luck vs all of that with Heavy Handed on top the former almost always comes out on top, and the weapons for which this isn't the case generally lag massively behind the weapons which benefit from crit.
      If the argument is well you can save on Perks and Special by not investing into Luck/Crit you have to also argue that there is anything more valuable than those, Luck/Crit is a very easy infinite money source and is an almost universal damage increase (exception being Explosives).
      There are situations where Heavy Handed can be pretty good though, mainly if you're running strictly Explosives/Guns Auto Weapons and want to supplement with some melee/unarmed then Heavy Handed is nice since you don't want to be investing alot in crit with those builds.
      It's also technically abit better in the super early game before you get Better Criticals or Elijah's Ramblings.

    Why are people so focused on “Chemless” Like bitch my rushing water, psycho, slasher, and med x as well as battle brew, stay! Especially if I’m doing a melee build.

    • @cmc4448
      @cmc4448 Před 5 měsíci

      I feel as though chems can make Unarmed and Melee, in fact any build good, you can have a subpar run with badly managed stats and equipment, but pop some Psycho and Med-X and all of your problems go away. It feels sort of cheap and most of my runs go chemless (unless you count Rad-Away,Rad-X) and even stimless, yet I can be as strong as chem builds without any of the downsides like addictions or meeting perk/crafting requirements and acquiring the components to make those items when you could be spending your time being a badass and beating people up.
      I totally get if you have more fun that way, but some people get the a kick out of doing things the hard way and working within the confines of self-imposed challenges, you could be in the same situation saying that "i don't get why people struggling with this boss" if you cheated in the game for fun, turning on God Mode and going to town in Camp McCarran/The Fort with a Fat Man can be really fun, but it's not what every one wants from the game.

      @@im_umbrella_man3896 *"I always figured people just wanted more perk slots and etc since chem builds do take at least two slots and what not."*
      I mean, sure, if you're doing a run that's super tight and every perk picked matters, but most of the time people will pick what they want if they feel like it's the strongest or most fun at the moment, or pick perks based onstuff they've written down or remind themselves of later. so it's not that big of a deal imo.
      *"And I feel I can agree because where I’m at now Chems just mop even the legendary MT Bloatfly. I hardly have to use them because I do stemless. It’s just to op especially for hardcore. I agree to some extent, though this makes it seem like you don't care as much about using chems than how you made it out to be in the original comment, though it might just be my perception of it.
      *"But also what about all the time you have to invest into getting a reliable dealer and also scavving? A lot of my drugs came from that a lot less from dealing but still it helped. Do people still see that as easy??"*
      It seems to me that if you're just playing normally and doing a normal amount of looting, you can find a very steady supply of chems with no need to barter or actively look out for them. The only situation I can see that happening in is if you're using them literally every fight, which wraps around my point about chems usually being more net negative than net positive and trivializing some of the challenge. And I do not enjoy the Whataboutism in this argument, we are not debating the actual avaliability of chems, more of how they impact the game at different levels of play.
      Also might i ask, what settings are you playing FNV on and do you have any mods installed? that'd be good to clarify some things.
