- The Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons), officially abbreviated "QO HLDRS," was an infantry regiment in the Scottish Division of the British Army. It was formed on 7 February 1961 at Redford Barracks, Edinburgh, with the amalgamation of 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders and 1st Battalion, Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. Due to the Options for Change defence review, however, 1st Battalion, Queen's Own Highlanders was further amalgamated with 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders on 17 September 1994 to form 1st Battalion, The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).

Only to spot them and see them being led by an absolute fucking Chad wielding a claymore and longbow
@@tjh6558 the mad lad, THE MAD JACK!
Jack Churchill was second in command of No. 3 Commando in Operation Archery, a raid on the German garrison at Vågsøy, Norway on 27 December 1941. As the ramps fell on the first landing craft, Churchill leapt forward from his position playing "March of the Cameron Men" on his bagpipes, before throwing a grenade and running into battle in the bay. For his actions at Dunkirk and Vågsøy, Churchill received the Military Cross and Bar.

@@user-yw2xu7gb8k It's interesting seeing that sentence in Korean. It just goes to show you that bravery and leadership are recognized no matter the language. (I don't actually read Korean, I used Google translate. However, I am glad that Sejong worked so hard to give Korea her own language hundreds of years ago, making literacy accessible to the people.)

"No, he's a Scottish Churchill. You didn't think there'd be a kirk on a hill somewhere in Scotland?"
POV : You're a German soldier and that lone British officer suddenly brandish a sword and grows triple health bar
I can see it now, Mad Jack, storming up a hill, his pipes blaring as loud as can be while men all around him shoot at the enemy...
That is not how it happened. According to soldiers who fought alongside Mad Jack, he was firing with a Webley revolver in his left hand, slashed at german soldiers with the longsword in his right, while playing the bagpipes with his penis.
@@Furzkampfbomber well done, gave me a hearty laugh
Such a badass scene I would have fought by his side with honour
He leapt from his carrier and started to play this before lobbing a grenade to initiate his attack. He truly was a mad lad.

WHY does Scotland produce some of the most badass and unreal war heroes in history?
Thomas Cochrane

Never mess with a Scotsman with a Kilt and a Claymore.
Sad the Cameron’s and Sea Forths got merged into the queens own. What’s even worse is that now they’ve all been merged into the royal regiment of Scotland. Ripping apart the heritage piece by piece
Numerous regiments were merged to form the regiments that we knew, the Cameron's hadn't even got their new uniforms for their new regiment when they went in to action in Egypt.
Tradition is important. It provides a link with the past and the present. I agree wholeheartedly.
Not just Scottish regiments in the Reforms of '06. Fortunately their traditions are kept alive by the companies who bear their names.

Born September 16, 1906 John Malcolm Thorpe Fleming "Mad Jack" Churchill, DSO & Bar, MC & Bar (d.1996) British Army officer who fought in the Second World War with a longbow, bagpipes, and a Scottish broadsword.
You're not properly dressed without your broadsword
My Great Grand Uncle Ernie Burns served in WWII in The Cape Breton Highlanders
Mad Jack Churchill with his bagpipes, arrow and claymore brought me here !
Mad Jack was what they called him, but all he wanted was to go to war in style.
Going to War in style: the late (and extremely camp!) “Bunny”Rodger was a British Interior Decorator. Anyone who didn’t know him, thought him just some effeminate male, in the world of home interiors. His obituary reminded all that in 1944, in the weeks following D-Day, he led his platoon of riflemen, closing with the enemy, whilst wearing a green chiffon scarf!
I would refer to Sting’s song, “An Englishman in New York” - ...” takes more than combat gear to make a man...”
25 years after my grandfather's death n it still makes me emotional and proud. Although he said getting shot and getting out was the best thing that ever happened🥺🙏
As an Englishman I would have the blood pipes playing every inspirational Scottish tune as our Island people moved on all parliament's and restored order to our ancient and sacred Isle. Our DNA is to enwoven to be un-united. We are all brothers/sisters/cousins, regardless of personal feelings.
