Because Bangkok is such a huge city we will focus on a few places, mainly its great outdoor places like Benjakitti park, Ancient city of siam, floating market and the Maeklong railway market
Benjakitti Park is a large public park located in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. Here are some key features and information about Benjakitti Park:
Location: The park is situated in the Khlong Toei district, near the Asoke area. It is easily accessible via the MRT (Queen Sirikit National Convention Center Station) and the BTS (Asok Station).
Size: The park covers an area of about 208,000 square meters and includes a large lake called Ratchada Lake, which adds to the park's scenic beauty.
Activities: Benjakitti Park is popular for a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy jogging and cycling on dedicated tracks, paddle boating on the lake, and exercising at the outdoor fitness areas. There are also shaded areas and pavilions for picnics and relaxation.
Greenery and Landscaping: The park is known for its well-maintained lawns, flower beds, and a variety of trees and plants, providing a green oasis in the bustling city. The park also features beautiful water fountains and sculptures.
Biodiversity: It is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it a pleasant spot for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers.
Expansion: Benjakitti Park is undergoing an expansion project known as Benjakitti Forest Park. This expansion aims to transform additional space into a green area, increasing the park's total size and offering more recreational facilities and walking paths.
Events and Facilities: The park often hosts various events, including cultural festivals, concerts, and fitness classes. It also has restrooms, parking spaces, and rental shops for bicycles and paddle boats.
Benjakitti Park is a great place to unwind, exercise, and enjoy nature amidst the urban environment of Bangkok.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is one of Thailand's most famous and vibrant floating markets. Located in the Ratchaburi Province, about 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, it attracts numerous tourists with its bustling atmosphere, traditional wooden boats, and wide array of goods for sale. Vendors sell a variety of products from their boats, including fresh fruits, vegetables, ready-to-eat snacks, and souvenirs.
The Maeklong Railway Market, also known as Talad Rom Hoop, is a famous market located in Samut Songkhram Province, Thailand. What makes this market unique and a major tourist attraction is the train that runs directly through it. Here are some key highlights:
Location: The market is situated along the Maeklong Railway, in the heart of Samut Songkhram, which is about 70 kilometers southwest of Bangkok.
Unique Feature: The market operates on both sides of the railway tracks. Several times a day, vendors have to quickly move their goods and retract their awnings to make way for a passing train. Once the train has passed, they return their goods to their original positions and continue business as usual. This process is quick and seamless, taking only a few minutes.
Train Schedule: The train schedule can vary, but typically, there are several trains passing through the market each day. Visitors often time their visit to coincide with a train passing through to witness the remarkable process
If you plan to visit, it's recommended to check the latest train schedules and plan accordingly to ensure you catch the train passing through the market.
