I'm studying in university in Korea and I can say I'm lucky to have such an accessibility of gym and pokestop. The problem is that people there are playing like they are planning a revolution against the government illegally. They don't open to people about playing it and would change the screen to anything else if you look at their phone screen.

I am very fortunate to live 15 minutes from Disneyland and have an annual pass. Everytime there's an event with good pokemon I always go there to farm. It's definitely a double edged sword though. When its crowded it's hard to focus on playing and walking to your destination surrounded by thousands of people. Also, things like parades can block and slow you down when trying to rush to a raid. I know, first world problems.

I'd say unless you have a gotcha to do it for you, places with stops so close together they're practically in one another is a bad idea. you'd have to struggle tapping on each one AND deal with loads of pokemon to accidentally tap on.
I think during the opening beta or Opening of Pokémon Go location was in Toronto Ontario’s lakeshore Boat rides. Lots of people were blocking the faire boat where pokespots there.

Dude I love raidin and using my auto catcher while at Disneyland, literally the most gyms, pokestops, and raid battles in a nearby proximity.
I live about 1 mile from the pier and walk there constantly. Always lured up and always gets shinnies around that general area. Disneyland was another great place as it was lured up all day I went recently
Cubbon Park, Bangalore is also quite loaded

SeaWorld in SD has a ton of pokestops and 3-5 gyms across the place, so fun to grind a bit while walking

Any city or dense country is good I think. Remote raid passes are hard to come by and sometimes raid coordination apps are annoying.

I live in Vegas and the strip always has a bunch of stuff happening. Drinking, gambling pokemaning. I just started playing two weeks ago so it’s pretty overwhelming as of now.
There was a strip where I live called memorial parkway and every gravestone of I think ww2 vets are an individual pokestops so it used to be 200+ in less than 300feet now they halfed it but is still very good to grind and load up on pokeballs
Number 2 is worthy for sure. My nearest city has an impressive amount of pokestops. LOVE going downtown to catch.
