    That move wasn't really unsportsmanlike. You can't score directly from a thrown in and need to pass (not to yourself). The only thing he could have done is either wait for his teammates and ruin the chance, or do what he did: bounce the ball off the goalkeeper which counts as a pass and keep playing.

    • @yaaobenewaah1697

    • @ezekielduran4386

      It was tactical brilliance. No you do not need to pass it. Where is that stated? You need to make a legal throw which is both feet touching the ground on or behind the touch line and have it go over your head with both hands on the ball and forward projection of the ball, as a drop from over your head with very little forward trajectory is illegal. And what do you mean make a pass? So if the throw is long and a defensive player touches it first would this constitute a re throw or an illegal throw awarding the throw to the other team? As a pass didn't occur only a pass attempt. So I don't think you understand what the rule is or are misusing language in your definition. It needs to touch a non throwing player 3 yards or steps from the touch line. Most don't know that either. As a corner or free kick requires 10 yards of space a throw in requires 3 yards. There is a highlight I've seen of a player walking away from a throw pointing like directing others and once he reached that three yard mark with his back turned to the player throwing it in the thrower threw it off his back and retained possession. This was a practiced and legal throw the team had done before in training obviously and it didn't break rules. It highlights the creativity people can implement while playing this game with great knowledge of the rules and how to take advantage of the lack of ambiguity in clearly worded phrasing of fifa laws. While some don't like it I love it as literal and accurate use of language in rules is entirely 100% definable. When interpretation of rules is a notion that brings problem, there shouldn't be interpretation when having a full comprehension of what is being read. Therefore there shouldn't be as many perspectives as occur when interpreting a dead ball situation. There aren't perspectives. The rules just are when talking about dead ball situations.

    3:57 I've seen you look at this a couple of times. This is (the comment FA can correct me) one of if not the greatest one-on-one moves in football history. The softness of the touch, the swiftness of the body twist. It's perfect in a strictly "Bergkamp" sense, which is an entirely different Tifo video in of itself ;)
    The "elegance" of this move is the key, for me. Bergkamp performed this like a noble born football deity.
    We have tried to replicate the move in our "casual kicking time" on the neighborhood pitch for decades and I've never seen it been done, nevermind in a scenario with willful defenders. (You can DO a bicycle kick in training, but you can't do that touch. 🙂)
    All I want to emphasize, is that that single move, is something special, in a way that's difficult to discribe to a football beginner but I know you will understand the beauty of this.

    • @hartshaped
      @hartshaped Před rokem +15

      Yep, absolutely correct a goal isn’t “a score”. You say a person “scored” in past tense, or “should/might/could score” but the end result is “a goal”.
      If you were praising a goal you’d say “what a goal” or “what a shot” you’d never say “what a score” because it makes no sense other than Argentina v France being 3-3 that’s an impressive “score” for a final
      Score and scoring is basically used as a verb it’s a doing word and never the end result.
      Basically “Goal” is also used as a term that encompasses the whole phases of play resulting in the ball being in the net. As an example if you had a highlight reel you are looking at the best goal/goals and never the best score/scores.

It's appalling our country lacks the commitment to educate children on many things valuable to every day life like this. Misuse of language is commonplace here and it's apparent as Luke didn't understand what he was doing wrong. To me that is the education system lacking a desire to educate. The best goals here are Bergkamp v Newcastle as the first touch seems to defy the laws of physics, the Zidane volley in the CL final as the ball is actually behind him when he volleys it forward, the Ronaldo and Van Persie headers and the fact the Tony Yabboa goal (the second one, with all the headers) travels the entire lenght of the pitch with 6 passes without the ball touching the floor once and each player only touching the ball once.

I think i related it to cisse and chelsea as opposed to Newcastle, then it appeared on the Premier League goals of the decade for last decade obviously. When that came out I literally watched it about 40 times that day

    you were surprised by goalkeepers scoring goals, while not UNHEARD OF it is pretty rare these days, you should react to José Luis Chilavert ((Paraguayan GK who for a LONG time played in a team here in Argentina and has scored from his own goal to the other side)), and René Higuita ((Colombian GK who usually would come out of his area and act as a regular player even scoring goals from Free Kicks ))

    The physics of the curving ball has always fascinated me (since I discovered the game as a teenager 45yrs ago). It's mostly about the rotation, but a soccer ball also has seams - like a baseball. Shots/passes that move like that are like pitching a curve or slider with your *foot*! It's tough to do. I can back-heel, I can toe poke, I can chip with my inside arch, but I still can't '..bend it like Beckham..'. 🤣Did I see in one of your thumbnails that you picked up a Dallas T-shirt? Welcome aboard! MLS isn't the top league in the world - but it's *ours*. And we're getting better. Greetings from Atlanta. I don't know if we play each other this year or not..in MLS you play everybody in your own conference twice (home/away), but only half the other conference every other year. I'll crack one open for ya next time I see FC Dallas on TV!

      On football manager game I created MLS like europe structure its way better, are there any plans to change the competition?
      one big flaw is that there is no promotion and relegation system. A soccer team needs time to develop over years and with the current system its more like every year anybody can win the league. I understand the benefit from that but long term you can't really grow.
      I guess the distance is to big to make it a normal competition with 20 teams and 3 that can relegate. Long term the teams will start improving and take that draft system away.

      @panamafloyd1469 Před rokem

      @@diazclemenza3591 , I think one of the problems here is that in the US, folks don't think of their local clubs as *institutions* yet. Everywhere else I've been in the world, even in the smallest towns the locals will say "..this is our fire department, this is our school, and this is our football club!" Nothing like that exists here (I hope it will one day!!).
      I also think promotion/regulation would be good for improving the quality of play in the US, but getting into first division (MLS) here is *expensive*. The league wants millions of dollars to grant a franchise to a club, and even then- if there's no plan to spend millions more on a new stadium, you're denied. These business people who invest in these clubs & stadiums will not allow relegation at any cost. To them, it's not about the game, it's about the money. They know most American supporters are not particularly passionate, they just want the 'big league' matchday experience. I''m sure you've seen Atlanta games in videos with anywhere from 45,000 to 70,000 fans. If we were relegated, about 20,000 of us would stay, and everyone else would just drive to Charlotte (3 1/2hrs) or Nashville (4-5hrs) and support them instead. The owners here will not even talk about pro/rel. Not yet, anyway. Maybe my grandchildren will see it! 😅

    Those massive curves are "easy" to achieve (but not to aim), just hit the ball with your 3 littler toes, the outer side of your foot. That creates the rotation needed for the ball to curve like that, but again, to be able to aim it like that, that's skill and talent

    A bit of a tip for you. If you want to learn how to use your none dominant foot, all you need is a tenis ball and a smallish wall. Then you start kicking the tenis ball against the wall, but every kick has to be with a different foot, then slowly over time just with the none dominant foot one kick with the inside and the next with the outside of the foot.
    OK you'll it will never be as good as your dominant foot, but you will not be scared of using it, because you will have learnt how to control the ball with it.
    And if you teach it to young kids, you'll be suprised at how quickly they adapt to it.

    Fun Fact: Zidane made the goal (1:10) in the 2002 Champions League final against Leverkusen. Bayer finished 2nd in all 3 competitions (Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League) that year, which earned the club the nickname "Vizekusen" for some time after three 2nd places in the previous five years in the Bundesliga without ever having won the championship. To make matters worse, 5 Bayer players (Ballack, Schneider, Ramelow, Neuville and Butt) were part of the German team that lost the World Cup final against Brazil in the same year.

    Don't worry, people who are talented at playing football generally start between the ages of 3-5 and practice with the ball for at least a few hours every day up until they get selected for a professional team or even remain as an amateur. Besides all the organised club and representative stuff I was involved in, I used to kick around with my brother after school until the sun went down most days. There is skill involved in all sports, but some more than others. I have a problem with sports that over emphasise height, running speed etc. Within football there is a place for anyone who is dedicated, but athletic stats aren't or should not be the be all and end all. Usain Bolt wanted to be a footballer all his life and when he retired he tried out at a few clubs around the world. His last stop was the Central Coast Mariners in the Australian League. Despite being the fastest man alive, having some decent football skills and a passion for the sport, and the media attention and advertising that would support the deal, his trial was not successful at the club. The game seems simple, but goals are rare, possession is king, tactics and quick thinking are important. With so many people playing the game throughout the world and the rewards that flow from it, there is such a range of talent in this game and it takes a lot to make it to the top.

    Use a tennis ball to practice - kick it against a wall and then work to trap and control the rebound ready for the next pass/shot. Just like your jab is king in boxing, your first touch control is everything in football. (Don't really need pace or athleticism, check out the old premier league player Matt Le Tissier for proof...)
    (That said, I was only ever a centre back; heading was more my practice drill...)

    If you want to learn how to play football, start with basics.
    Train doing correct passes for a month against a wall, it will also teach you have to recieve a ball.
    Then you move over how to recieve the ball on the run, dribbling, and pass it on the run
    Passing (and running) are like 90% of the game.

    9:52 That WAS the goalkeeper. The player that the attacker bounced the ball off of, was the keeper. He misplayed and got caught out way too far away from the goal, so the attacker did the best he could with that situation.
    While the fans of the team that got scored on might say it's unsportsmanlike most everyone else would think it's just a smart move. It happens so rarely so it's not really a problem.

    So that bicycle kick thats had a good celebration, with the GK in purple. Well it was scored by a GK in the last minutes of the match, he ran from his goal to be part of a corner kick since its the last chance to score and if they miss its over anyways so why be at your own goal post
