    Something I appreciate about you. You talk about your parents (you mention them in other videos too) you share your love and respect for them. 25 plus years ago when I was young my parents worked hard to give us 5 kids the best life, did we always get the best or newest? No, but we loved what we had, it did not have to be trend setting or cool. Blah blah.... Just was touched by your remarks.

    Love ya content TB. I retired my 2003 board last year and brought all new gear in 2023, but as ya know the snow sucked here this year in Australia so I didn't get to use any of my new stuff.😢 Hopefully I get to ride next one.

    I feel that this comment will prob get a lot of hate but I change my gear up all the time, I work hard and make decent money so like to change up my set up, (apart from boots) I then sell my gear on, I feel that that way someone gets pre-loved gear at a fair price, kinda like recycling I guess

      I do the exact same thing. There’s so so much good tech out and never enough days to explore and see what you like, love, can’t live without.
      Except boots. That’s all about fit, feel, and function for me.

    • @jonbrown9490
      @jonbrown9490 Před 8 měsíci

      I do the same thing. I buy most of my gear on pro-form , ride it for a season or two, and then sell it for close to what I paid. I keep my outerwear and boots for multiple seasons though.

      Why get hate? You’re making it easier for people to get out on the hill by providing cheaper options, plus you’re supporting the snowboard community / companies.

      Why would you get hate for that? As someone who uses primarily used gear because that's what I can afford, I love guys like you. In fact, I wish I could get your info so I could buy you pre-loved gear for a good price every year (if it's my size, that is). I'm also happy for you that you have the means to do that for yourself. Cheers!

      I second this, I’m a gear junky and love getting new things that can help elevate my riding! While all my old gear gets sold for much cheaper or given away to friends and family so they can shred too!

    I had used until february my 2012 Rossignol Trick&Stick. What I bought from a Rental shop maybe around 2016. Still used it a month ago, it´s comming to his end. Have bought four HEAD snowboards to replace the rossi. Probably I´m good for the next 10-15 years whit boards. Have a Nitro boot around 5-6 years old, maybe I can squez one season out of them.

    I believe it was Kevin Jones that said he breaks in a new set of boots by wearing them in the shower. He also pulled all the laces out of the inside and what not. Basically destroys them first.

    I change everything (board, binding and boots) every 3 or 4 years. I do about 20 days a year. the equipment can still last a while but it's just the pleasure of having something new after a few years. I still keep my old boards and I collect as many parts as possible from my bindings (always Burton freestyle) I go down with a fairly flex set (around 4/10 overall) that's why after 60 days it's good for me to change 🤣😅.

  • @32srt32
    @32srt32 Před 8 měsíci

    id have to say its the malavita bindings is what caused the crack! they are commmon for it due to the pointy edge near the heal.

  • @mikeoclimberMTB
    @mikeoclimberMTB Před 8 měsíci +1

    IMHO usually after 100-150 days of riding, camber boards lose their pop and stiffness, with the exception being if you order a custom carving board thats 12/10 on the stiffness scale, the base and edges are never the weak points unless you trash them on early season rocks.

  • @Nismitsu

    If it wasn’t mentioned already. Broke a Boa and asked at the shop and they said to trash the boots, too hard and expensive to fix. Did some research that night. Lifetime warranty and a snap to replace. Boa rocks! No, FREE TO REPLACE THEM.

    I don’t own my own boots I rent every time when I do rent, I can feel the difference when the boots have been broken in or not. When they are broken in they feel looser I can get my heel side edge easier.

    I like how you make run your equipment into the ground before switching. Most youtubers seem to have a different board every video so it's difficulty to believe them when they rave about certain gear.
    I have a question though, since you're the same height as me, what size snowboard snow pants do you wear? Most snowboard pants I see online seem way too long.

    • @tommiebennett
      @tommiebennett  Před 8 měsíci

      I usually ride medium size pants, but roll up the bottom of them 90% of the time when I ride. But I also like the baggy look I consider doing Snow pants and making them baggy but shorter, but that won’t happen until possibly next year.

    if you don't tighten the boots, isn't there a lot of play when you're carving the way you do? how is it so responsive when you're carving hard and fast? do you have any forward lean on your bindings? do you buy boots a size smaller than your sneakers?

    • @tommiebennett
