Summiting and Splitboarding Middle Sister Volcano

- Middle Sister is a volcanic peak standing ~10,056ft tall in Deschutes County, Oregon. This video documents my 22 April 2023 summit and snowboard descent. It was a good time of year for splitboarding, but there was still snow covering the road below 5,000ft elevation, so my car didn't make it all the way to Pole Creek Trailhead. The standard route is typically about a 14 mile round trip, but I was worried about getting stuck and pulled over and parked a couple miles below the trailhead. This extra length made for a 17+ mile day.

You always inspire me to be wild. Hope to run into you some day in your element. Keep kickin.
Fun to watch!
Cool video!
Thanks for the comment!
Great job, looked like a long day. I am not great at skiing but would it be possible in early May to complete in one day with snowshoes?
Yes, but it would likely be less effort to wait until June and do it without snow shoes. The remaining snow will be firm above the tree line and snow shoes would not benefit you much. Still would want to take an ice axe and crampons for the upper half of the summit ridge.
Finally making the choice to switch to a split board any advice for a first time buyer?
My man! Switching from booting or touring skiis?
