I was enjoying the look of the left side (cheap pencils) but when you started the right side, it was obvious to me that they are a better pencil. Although I hate buying them and have them break 20 times in my pencil sharpener when they’re so expensive and I have to sharpen my blue down to the nub within 2 minutes.

I doubt it's fake humility. Thing about art no matter how good you are, there's always someone better and there's always something new to learn or improve on. It's just escalation.
That means that he isn’t exclusively a color pencil artist he uses markers
the expensive side is undoubtedly a better art material for professional pieces... but the cheap side is great for what it is, and has a certain charm. it reminds me of drawing during classes, it makes me nostalgic and happy
I wish more artists used cheap materials along with the expensive ones for more contrast. Imagine using the two styles to play with lighting. Like, if iron man’s had were colored in with the cheap side and the body would be colored on with the expensive ones so show he is bathed in light...
I think the reason you prefer the cheaper ones is because they make you work harder to look professional and you get emotionally attached to that side. Makes sense.

The left side of Iron Man looks as though he's been left out in the sun too long and has faded. For a guy who claims he can't work with pencils, you're incredible. Awesome work.
Sorry, but the reason why he looks like that is because the artist didn't layer those pencils enough, which is understandable since he mainly uses markers. Colored pencils require a lot more patience and a lot more layers. Those pencils don't look like that when used to their actual potential. They perform much better than this. He is being honest when he says he isn't exactly that skilled with colored pencils.

@@michellesaindon5673 Totally! I get what you mean. I just wanted to clarify what those pencils are capable of, he just didn't do justice to these classics. Pencils are my main medium and those pencils are actually amazing and affordable.
Don't want to brag, but those pencils have gotten my work displayed at an art exhibition. They're that capable. Thats probably why I feel so strongly about this.

I actually like the drawing on the right side..
Because it looks like a drawing..
Although there's nothing wrong with photo realism and depth of detail..
It's just my bias,
I like my pictures to look like a drawing more so than a photograph.

As someone who uses poloychromos and just discovered you, the polychromos are oil based and the students pencils you use from Fabre are actually waxed based as most beginning pencils are. I love both styles, but the softer leads of the polychromos is easier on my wrist so I has to stop using wax based pencils.
The more expensive pencils are way better ! Those are actually a great set.

fantastic as usual, i do love the $60 ones, i love the more vibrant colors and deeper blacks. however im sure with those you can still get the effects of what you did with the $6 pencils

I would love the pro markers, I've tried you style with cheap markers, it just doesn't work as well as I hoped, so would mind trying with better colours.
I do prefer the $60 pencils just because the colour is alot more vibrant but for a starter colouring the $6 pencils are not to bad, they still work just not as bright.
I think for your next video you should use cheap childrens books and pencils and then expensive colouring books and pencils, to see which one works out better.

With the penns, "the expensive once" if u have a good paper, at least when i use them i can usually layer ahout 3 to 5 colours so yeezz, paper matters😅. Great vid bruv!!!👌🏻👌🏻💪🏽

I like them both for different reasons. The left side for the roughness and fadedness of it. And the right side for the smooth realistic vibe.

I really enjoy your comparisons.. great information for an artist starting back into it. There are so many choices of products and your work helps sort of some of the questions I have. Also, the sharing of your techniques has been super helpful for me as I am learning as I go.

Promarkers would be wonderful to try.
I think I prefer the cheaper pencil side as well. The softer look is pleasing to the eye.
I think the coffee spilling idea is interesting, I will keep my eye out for that.

I would love the pro markers! I've been looking for a cheap alternative to copics and you've definitely convinced me to try the ones you use.
I prefer the right side. It's much more vibrant and rich in colour which I feel works for this image. But the cheap pencils could hold their own.

It's like looking at an older generation of comics on the left and new generation on the right. The right side is just so much more vivid. Lord Vivid Colors would be proud.
I actually loved the left side. The right did look really fantastic as far as the vibrant colors but the left looked more appealing to me that is. It just reminded me of how I color.

Ducks are definitely people too! We raised a duckling from the time it hatched to full grown and taught it to be a dog for a psychology project. So we had a guard duck. Best project ever.

Love these videos! I was binge watching them all until I stumbled onto this giveaway one. I'd love to get the Faber Castell pencils. Although I loved the right side for it's unique look and the texture feel I'd have to go with the more superior right side. It's so nice how the colors blend so well with each other, plus I like the vibrancy of it. My only concern is if they break easily like the prisma colors do. Anyways great video. Oh and DUCKS ARE PEOPLE TOO!

13:28 My Mom cross-stitched a lot when I was in school. We were leaving for a family vacation and ended up having a semi pull on to the highway in front of us (no sufficient on-ramp from truck stop) and we collided with the truck going 75 mph with him going about 20 mph. My Mom was very badly injured. Her cross-stitch was almost finished, she was just working on the outlines/backstitches. When she got the cross-stitch out of the totaled car she saw there was blood just above the granny’s head that couldn’t be washed out. She ended up stitching a bun on the granny’s head to hide the bloodstain and it looked more complete with the bun and ended up being better.
I prefer the left side because it reminds me of being young and colouring in, in those little colouring books that you could get with the hero action poses, I'd have to say I would like the pro markers and "ducks are people too"

Wonderful channel AD⚡️C hehe. On the paper... I do prefer smooth Bristol. If you like the tactile feeling of traditional you should definitely try it. It was a one way street for me. Less straining and smoother lines and finish has been my experience. It’s sooo buttery without being slippery.

The Colored Pencils. I preferred the left side because of it almost looked more realistic but it also had that sketch type look to it, which I do in some of my drawings. Ducks are people too.

Love all the videos, i too like to draw, i dont like calling my drawings art tho, alto they are rather well done, i mainly use graphite but that may be a product of availability, i have used crayola colored pencils on my latest drawing, and im rather proud of my semi photo realistic highly poisonous little froggy friend, anyway hope whoever gets the supplies uses them to the fullest extent, great work so fat and keep it up, really inspired by your videos

Coffee on your drawing gives the old pirates map effect.... Very cool on water color paper...

I know this comment is being made 3yrs after he's done this piece, but maybe someone can confirm for me as I have just started watching this Artist's channel. Does he now test his markers &/or colored pencils on different varieties of paper before he starts drawing? To me that that would be the smart artistic thing to do before you go and produce a piece of art to the world! I mean an artist painting with acrylic paint wouldn't use a linen or silk stretched canvas to paint their masterpieces, just as an artist who uses oil paint for their creations to paint on polyester or a satin stretched canvas now would it? *TEST YOUR TOOLS (MARKERS/COLORED PENCILS) AGAINST DIFFERENT MEDIUMS (PAPER) BEFORE YOU START A PIECE!!!!*

I really liked the right side due to the vibrant colors but I also quite love what you did and it's nice to see people do comparisons like these and tell their own thoughts in the progress so it's quite a tie but I have a slight favor to right.

The cheaper pencils look like the watercolor pencils set I bought at the Denver Art Museum. "Do Art Faber-Castell." These are the first watercolor pencils I have used, so I'm not really sure about how watercolor pencils are supposed to perform.
The set included 10 watercolor pencils, a pad of paper, a pencil sharpener and a brush. For $16. I really like the brush, it blends the colors well. The pencil sharpener works with the pencils, but not with other pencils. The paper is nice and thick. Kinda like cardstock. The only downside with paper is if it get too wet it starts to break up. But I did buy the set in the kids section of the gift shop.
Now onto the picture at hand. I like the soft quality of the left side. But overall I prefer the right side.

I personaly preferred the right side or expensive pencils better mainly because the left or cheap pencils looked kinda faded and I just prefer more vibrant colors.
I am primarily a pencil artist, 6th grade, and use 2 different sets of pretty good pencils. My first and most commonly used set is called Prismacolor Premier with 48 pencils and they are amazing, I'm currently working on a half ssg, half ssgssj vegeta. My second set I can't find and am not getting out of bed to look for as it's midnight, but they were my first set of good pencils and got me a 100% on an art class project which was my final grade so I passed.

I use the cheap fiber castell in my drawings cause it's the one that I can afford but I can say that the cheap one is not actually that bad in terms of how the vibrant comes out maybe it depends on your style and how you apply it to your drawing
Art is art , no matter how good you are and no matter which art supplies you can afford to use.Don't judge yourself by the standards others can produce. If you can put a mark on paper then that is YOUR art and be proud of it. The right side is in my opinion nicer and cleaner with the blending but then again the left has a kind of ruggedness that i also like , but the RIGHT side is my favourite.You do get what you pay for quality wise , but the results with the cheaper media are no less appealing to the eye , depends on personal preference i suppose. You did a great job to say you mostly use markers for your art , and you proved that cheaper is not always worse :) . Not sure if comp is still open but if it is i would like the FC polys if i win. Great video , always enjoy them.
I honestly think the $60 side is better but you did use the other pencils to their limits and it did turn out good, if I win can I have the Faber Castell pencils but really I don't care which ones I get I'm just thankful that you're a great CZcamsr. Thank you.

I use the low end Faber-Castell pencils regularly and I’ve found that they compliment and omens with prismacolor pencils quite well. I would like to see what I could do with a higher end Faber-Castell.
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I’ve finally been able to find you again to subscribe. Perhaps you could do my second favourite character someday? Captain America using the same type of comparison? Look at that! I’ve spent a lot of time in Devon and now it autocorrected favorite!
