  • Sharpie markers against Professional Grade Markers... Can they come out on top?
Sharpies are widely considered the poor mans easy access art supply, I might be inclined to agree... By the end of this video I'll be expressing my views and opinions but more importantly I'll be looking to your comments for review.
I believe I made a mistake in my wording, the solvents within sharpies are a mix of Various Alcohols, providing the signature, strong smell. Please take care when using them.
This series was created to show and inspire you all, that no matter what your price range we can all be artists. Adaptation is the key to succeeding through art. I would love to see you all progress and I hope you'll share your works with me on social media - ADCArtAttack on all platforms.
If you're enjoying this serious I would love to know and of course anything you want to see in the future please leave a comment for me, perhaps we will tackle it soon.
If you would like to see me create works of art LIVE follow me on Twitch
and with all that being said,
    Have a great day/night...
    See you soon,
    Bob and Anthony

    Hey guys, Bob here -
So ADC made a mistake, he said some nonsense about Solvents, but basically let me explain... the SOLVENTS that make up a Sharpie are a mixture of various alcohols. These are what give off that distinct smell and yeah, DON'T sniff them..
Do me a favour though, drop a like because all he does is Moans about alerts and views.... The happier he is, the less I hear about it ;)

Left side is more like 80's highly saturated, right side is of course more of the modernised take. Feel more like it is showing off how far professional utensils have evolved to allow crisper, more vibrant artistry.

This is what I suspect most people do. Sharpie make good pens for the money and as he showed you really only need to add certain key colours from better brands to give you all the options you are likely to ever need but at a realistic price.

    • @jeansmx2804
      @jeansmx2804 Před 4 lety +6

The only problem with that is that sometimes different marker types do not mix well together. Like in this case if you tried to blend Sharpie and Pro Marker together in the same exact area the alcohols and the two different types of pens since they’re different blends might react differently to each other and you could end up with a big blotchy mass instead of an actual blend. Like for example if you had skin tones of pro markers and you wanted to use one of those in her red bodice with the sharpies you had in there that would be bad. But if you used all Pro markers for the skin and all Sharpies for the other areas so the pro markers in the sharpies never touched her blended together then you would be OK. However other types of alcohol markers don’t have as much problems blending together like say a copic with the pro marker, It’s because sharpies have such a different make up that they would react differently to normal alcohol type markers. Basically you don’t want to mix a permanent marker with an alcohol marker. Or at least test it first on another piece of paper to see what the reaction is sometimes I find the different reactions can have a cool fact that might work if you’re winning a certain texture it might work for you.

It's hard to choose especially not ever experiencing alcohol markers (yet) but I do like them a little better as far as viewing goes. They are a bit more subtle. But, what I take away from this is that if I plan to make posters for my son I can always whip out the Sharpie collection and put up pictures to make his white walls look a bit less droll and bit more WHAM! @@ADCArtAttack Well, that explains a lot. I had a minor panic when I tried to watch it the first time and got a "User removed this video" message. So relieved that I didn't have to go into full-blown panic. 😥

You did an amazing job with what you had with the Sharpies, but I have to go with the right hand side.
And thanks to you, I've fallen in love with Promarkers, and I would stress that you don't need to spend $500 to get started. Thanks to various sales I've got about 60 of them so far and it's a growing collection. But even my first two twelve packs were enough to get me started.

$500 would simply supply the entire collection but no one needs 50 shades of grey 😉

if the markers - Sharpies are not safe to use long periods at a time- why are there no warnings on the packaging or markers?

Amazing ADC. The sharpie side has a strangeness in the color palate that I like. Most noticable in the bracelets.

It actually works well on both. The left is more cartoony yet still good realism. And the right is just as awesome because it brings her to life. Love both.

  • @Pink_Woz

I never knew sharpies could blend! I just tested it with some of the sharpies I have and I am very pleasantly surprised. Yeah the pro-markers are much better (hense the pro) but I think that if you can’t afford the alcohol markers then sharpies are a nice alternative. Yeah you don’t have a lot of colours but if you’re not one to use certain colours like skin colours anyway then there’s no need for such a big verity. Sure it’s nice to have but if you don’t need it then you don’t need it. It’s really up to the person and how much money they have in their pocket. I’d say both are just as good as each other, it’s just sharpies requires a little more time and patience with the blending and stuff.
