The low sell prices make me super sad for them to land in the hands of kill buyer. This has me sobbing watching the auction. I pray these beautiful babies go to real homes ❤
I do too. They are mostly flippers buying versus meat buyers.
same!
@@freespiritequestrian that’s such a relief to hear! In that case they got a great deal on some very beautiful horses. I love them all.
There are a lot of kill buyers in that area. It’s crazy how horrid many of the Amish are to their horses at that auction! I went once as a teen with a friend, and there was a group sale. One horse had a dislocated hip and another laid down which meant they wouldn’t make it to the ring (thus would sell for much less) so the father had his about 10 year old son beating the downed horse to make him stand. My friend jumped in there and started whipping the boy! She was a wild girl! It’s been years since I went there because it was so heartbreaking for me. I hope it is better now.
Maybe it isn’t as bad when it’s an auction just for horses. They have pretty regular livestock auctions, and it was one of those.
@@jenliz6248 this was a highlighted sale. Yes there are kill buyers but it’s mostly flippers. That’s what I’m saying.
It’s so crazy to me that some of the saddles are selling for more than the horses! They are all so precious.
I felt the same about prices but I’ve been looking at puppies. Mini schnauzer prices as high as $6,000 a puppy. My first schnauzer cost me $300 and my last Great Dane was $2,000.
@@cheriebrantner5543 It’s ridiculous
Pretty crazy yes
@@cheriebrantner5543 The prices of puppies in UK have plummeted recently..Whippets were £3k , now you can het them for well under £1k {Kennel club registered}
I'll take a look at mini Schnauzers..
£1,000 KC reg and vet checked seems to be the average price.
Perhaps a little more from Champion lines, but still very cheap compared to crazy ''Covid'' era prices.
@@cherylmillard2067 I looked at Whippet rescue for years, just none come up at all..I know a trustee for the main Whippet rescue charity in UK, and mercifully there are rarely any that come up for adoption.
The craziest was a good few years ago, when two Whippet show ladies {one in her Eighties} were murdered in their remote rural cottage, Norfolk {England} and they had about 16 Whippets to find homes for.
The poor Whippets were deeply traumatised. The names of the individual Whippets weren't known.
The murderer turned out to be a 33 yr old salesman who stabbed the ladies to death.
{Whippets aren't great guard dogs, too trusting and peaceful}
All the Whippets were eventually found homes.
I love watching these, also it was super sad seeing those horses go through the ring that needed help.
Seriously I want to save them all!
@@freespiritequestrian Thank you for reply, you are my idol!
That was always the worst part of visiting auctions…seeing issues with equines that were fixable but others wouldn’t fix and let it be someone else’s “problem” or others that had certain physical issues and needed a forever home.Thank you so much for evaluating what you’re looking at and educating the viewers on what you see. Love the new saddle 👍. Don’t feel bad on hesitating because there’s a reason why you didn’t bid and it’ll all make sense in the future. 🌻💕 there’s something greater coming into your future and it’s going to be wonderful!
Yes it’s so upsetting.
I honestly love when you do these videos. I think they are so informative, and more horsey people will consider doing bc of the information you have provided. We appreciate your work! ❤
Thank you!
I really like how you show the novice buyer what to look for on the horses. I've even learned some things.
It's just great to see a professional like you going through the inspection process and hearing how it makes you feel ❤️🌻 thanks for sharing this content with us Shae!
Thank you!!
It breaks my heart seeing them in the bidding ring with all the people around them. It must be so scary :( if only we could save them all
I know 🥺
I know. They have to be terrified and confused. The guy spurring and backing the appy!! Really necessary?
Well Shae, this is where you and I met. Prince Charming was the horse you purchased at that auction. I was so pleased and happy for you. Still am!
You have such a good heart. I would want to provide a home for all of them too. They are so precious.
Oh, oh, oh the anticipation of are you going to jump in or not!!! Okay, I can relax now, maybe next time.
Thanks for speaking your mind and educating us. I learn something new every time. Give everyone at home a good pet. 👋🏻🧑🦳
I did too I meant Shea at a
Auction when she bought the 👑 PC 💖 thanks for your post
Amazing! I’m so glad you’ve come along on this journey with me.
That 5 year old roan 😍 that young Appy is gorgeous to what a build
Thank you so much for what you do! I love these videos but I also really appreciate how much care you go into explaining your thoughts on each one. You have definitely made it so that when my husband and I are finally able to get our own horses, we will know what to look for! It's so so hard to know where to even start with horses and evaluating them if you didn't grow up with them. You are fabulous!!!
You’re welcome! Thank you! 🐴💖
How on earth can you get an accurate assessment on a horse in such a small pen??? I can’t believe these idiots taking up all the room in the pen. A disaster waiting to happen.
I feel for these poor horses.
I agree with you Shae if I had the funds and the property I’d buy them all 🥰
I have watched a ton of your auction videos and when ever a new one comes out I watch it as soon as I can! I wish I could help take care of all those poor horses.
Thank you 😊
Thank you for taking us along.
Now that is great self control. Remember there are tons of horses coming at you n you always seem to know which ones are truly yours.
I love watching the auction sales and seeing all the horses. Loved the older palomino.
So pretty right?!
love that your back at the auctions!!! ❤🎉
😊
When I saw that Haflinger's eye I was so sad. And I really apricate the work you do for horses like this. (You got a sub from me for that! :) )
I know.
Broke my heart 😢
Oh my gosh, at the end with that pretty App on the block, I'm yelling buy him, buy him!😄
I love the auction videos getting to see so many horses I like that you get us up close and let us get a good look thank you
❤️
The little calf with the cute bandana at 11:10 were just so precious!❤
As for the horse with one eye--as you know, many animals get by just fine with just one eye. Famous Derby runner Un Ojo was quite brilliant. One-eyed dogs and cats galore scamper around unhindered.
I think horses would have to be trained but they would rely on what all well-trained horses rely on...their ears, their proprioception, and most of all their deep trust in the people around them.
These videos are super interesting! Love watching them and hearing your thoughts, as well as the selling prices. Congrats on the new saddle!
Thank you!
I love it when you go to the horse auctions! It is very interesting and I learn so much!!
❤️
Yes, I did enjoy this video and all of your videos. Good luck, because you brought the trailer❤❤❤❤❤.
It must take a lot out of you to go to these auctions and see horses in sad situations. Your resilient spirit, kind heart, strength of purpose, and dedication to your cause are really admirable. I know you know that your ability to say 'no' and stick to it, to not rescue many horses, is an important part of your mission, but I just want to support/cheer for that in particular. You are doing good and it's heartwarming to be able to witness that through your CZcams channel!
Auctions are so hard on the heart! We attend one in Ohio regularly, and our prices are currently much higher than at this! I could definitely see some of these ending up as flipping to another auction for profit. The ones that come to your farm have basically won the lottery! God Bless!
Yes they truly are. Are you talking about Mt. Hope?
Great informativ video and again, it shows your knowledge, thank you for making these videos 🙏🙋🏻♀️
The lame horses tore my heart out!!! You know where they ended up.😭 I don't understand why a person who owns a hopelessly lame horse won't do the descent thing and just have them put down instead putting them thru the horror of a slaughter house.
Because euthanizing and disposing of a horse costs money whereas they could sell it to someone else for a couple hundred bucks and come out ahead (in their mind)
I can't imagine being one of these horses at an auction it must be so scary
Loved going to the auction with you!
❤️🐎
You are so calm and kind around them any horse with you would have a good life.
Thank you 😊
Yay love seeing these auction vids
❤️
I’m gunna cry with you..I love horses, wish I could do more for them. This is why, I love your channel. You share, your opinions and your wonderful, warm , ♥️..
❤️❤️❤️
Enjoyed seeing the auction even if it is a little sad some of those horses sad thank you for taking us along. Look like a nice western saddle. Thank you for all the video and taking the time to teach us things appreciate it have a good day
Yes it’s hard for me too. I am excited about my saddle though!
I just think that no horse or animal should be pushed through like that!
I enjoy watching your videos.
Love that saddle!!! Can’t wait to see it on your horses. I was hoping you would get that Appy though. He would be so awesome on the trails. 🧡👍😁♥️
❤️
I’d have a hard time going home with just one❗️
I started watching you over a month ago. I’ve learned a lot ….I’ve never owned a horse. I’ve always thought how beautiful they are.
It’s hard not to buy more!
I've been watching your channel for a few days,I understand why your buying horses. You Arun a great business. I've learned so much about buying from you at the auctions. My favorite are red roan and blue roan grulla. The Ovaro was beautiful
i love going to Shipshewana and seeing the horses there and hopefully i’ll buy another one soon
❤️
Love your auction videos 💕💕
Yay!
I was so hoping you'd get that gorgeous dappled bay. I fell in ❤️
So pretty right?!
@@freespiritequestrian I wish I'd known about you being there I totally would have gone to meet you as it's only an hour away from me
So many horses and ponies. I do have a soft spot for donkeys. Its great that you share you tips for what to look out for when looking to buy.
❤️
You are a wonderful heart you will get big on u tube and get the rescues too❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love it when you go to Auctions so interesting but yes a gabble as to what you get on the day.
Yes so true.
Hi! I love your horse auction videos!
Thanks!
I was sad for some of the horses. I loved the Appy who had the Western saddle on it. So awesome!
💖
The nicer horses seemed to be at the end. That appaloosa seemed like he was a nice all around horse. You're making me a fan of them now.
Yes, everyone talks about how good all of the horses look at some of the auction I go to, and I want to show all types of auctions and variables. The first horses were “loose pen” horses the ones later were the catalog/riding horses. Appaloosas really are amazing! That one was so pretty. For some reason I just couldn’t seem to bid on him…idk what it was because he was lovely!
Great video thanks ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing... I was on the edge of my seat waiting for you to bet...hehehe maybe next auction... Love & Peace
❤️
Hello - Please make more videos like this and show what to look for when buying a horse - thanks
👍
Enjoyed the sale
When I lived in Indiana I ALWAYS went to the shipshewana Topeka auctions.. the draft auctions were awesome and the exotic auctions!!lose pen is usually the old and injured that sell to kill buyers!!
I really want to go to Topeka sometime! What’s it like? I know they have some premiere sales ❤️
Early Merry Christmas present with your new saddle with the double curve. Sorry you didn't get the Appy. My dad used to raise them. They are gentle, beautiful equines.
That’s amazing 🤩
I was hoping so hard you were going to bid on him. He was gorgeous. Loved his attitude . But you know best. I would have bid on him lol. Also the palomino paint, loved him. That's why I can't go to auctions or shelters....I have a soft heart, I would bring everything home and you just can't do that. Thank you for bringing us along.
❤️
Your favorite horse at the end would have looked so handsome with that new saddle!
Yes but I don’t regret my judgement or decisions.
I love the auction Videos it’s teaching me to be more picky on Horses
Awesome!
Always love your auction videos! I thought for sure you were going to grab the Appy at the end! Loved your Mexico vacation video too - got me curious - who manages the farm when you and Kyle are away?
I have trusted individuals who handle the farm when I’m gone 🐴❤️.
that's amazing video thank you for sharing this amazing experience god bless you all way down from Saudi Arabia
Thank you! 🖤
crazy... we almost went there this year! we live really close and almost had a friend bring theirs!
Awesome 🤩
My heart was breaking for some of these horses I just want them all to be safe and loved 😢beautiful horses though and love what you do ♥️
Agreed! Thank you 😊
6:16 poor thing, it was so scared and tried to follow her :(, I'm glad she was there to make it feel a bit better!
the belgian was gorgeous ❤
Agreed
Hi, I love your channel and have been following for some time now. You’ve helped me with some horse training advice in other comments. I just lost my horse in a freak accident and feel lost. I still can’t believe it happened..I loved her very much and this has been so hard. I love the horses you train and would love to maybe talk about if you have any for sale in the near future.
My goodness I’m so sorry that is horrible. Feel free to reach out!
enjoyed watching the auction. broke my heart too to see some of the horses. i must say though. i would love to have a donkey, i think they are sooo cute. God bless
Me too! They are adorable.
Where I live in the UK, there is an auction for the wild ponies from the moors. The traditional start price is 50p (about 60 cents) and some will sell for that. A local company have set up an abattoir to kill them as meat for zoo animals, as a kindness to them, so they don't get carted a cross to the continent with no food and water, only to be slaughtered anyway.
Wow that’s so awful :(.
7:10 I love that bay!!
So gorgeous
So many beauties there OMG....Color-wise, my weakness are all black or black and white Horses...but really any paint will get my attention....
Right! So gorgeous. I just want to be rich so I can buy more and help them.
That loose pen belgian only went for 700? I can't imagine what some of those prices might mean.
Great video again 😊
Thanks again!
I hope all the horses whent to good homes
Me too
The large Strawberry/bay roan was rather special.
Really enjoy watching your videos on the horse auctions. How do you find out about all of these auctions ,or do you know about them through experience. Have a wonderful Holiday Season.
I have either been to them before and know their schedule or I see them on Facebook :).
Great vid!
Thanks!
Hi again SHAE
Quite the busy auction this time. Surprised and saddened at the low prices knowing the killers had a big day.
You have such a tender heart and I'm sure being there can be so hard when you want to help so many.
Beautiful new saddle! You work so hard and more then deserve that special treat! Lots of fun rides ahead in that one for sure.
Thx as always for sharing. Fun to tag along with you. Catcha next time...
Thank you so much 😊. Yes it’s so difficult sometimes! I just want to get rich so I can help MORE horses. They deserve so much better.
I almost couldn't watch the beginning bids, being so low, I know what this means for these poor animals, those s. houses south of the border. All those men, the kill buyers, were ringed around in a tight circle trying to buy up all these cast-offs. Can't sleep tonight. Thanks for your compassion. Maybe some of them were bought by people who want to help them.
@@virtualselfie6899 We can hope
@@beverlycass1840 Hope works. Many of them are given away for free on CL and then who knows. I used to watch the welfare horse channels, Tawny runs a great one in TN but I had to stop. So many of them can't be saved. The vets go way beyond the call of duty to restore them to health. When the writing is on the wall, Tawny gives them that one last act of kindness, a feed bucket on their nose after leading them to a soft field under a sweet tree. Then she or the vet administers the shot so they can cross the rainbow bridge in bliss.
Forgive my tangent! It's just really hard to watch some of what goes on at the auctions. When I was a kid, dad took us to the "good" auctions, where good horses in good health, were adopted. If people don't have the know-how or means to take care of such a beautiful animal, they should not be allowed to adopt them ~~ like a driver's license, there should be credentials in order to own magnificent equines.
I hope Shae "gets rich," so she can buy as many as possible. She'll need more aces for pasture and paddocks. When she was giving TLC to Baheera, the 27 year old resting in the shade on the side of the barn, I lost it. Shae said that she will always keep Bagheera; when the time comes, she wants Bagheera to have a nice, soft spot to fall down. This compassion makes up for all the nefarious horse-trading going on behind the scenes. Those poor horses are pumping out the stress hormones. Take care and let's keep watching Shae pull a kangaroo out of a hat. Her spirit is indomitable.
@@virtualselfie6899 Prayers too.
I was just wondering about you ! Happy 2 see. You .
Thanks!
I love ur choice and I love 😍 horses
❤️
I just subscribed. When I saw that pony without one eye, I almost cried. No horse doesn’t deserve to be in pain or anything like that. I know gaining one subscriber probably won’t change anything but I hope it helps. :) have a great day!
Welcome to the channel! I know, that poor sweet baby.
At least the horse had its eye removed.
Glad the Appy went high & safe.
💖
So many beautiful baby's. I don't know if I could choose if I was there.
It’s hard!
Fun videos
I'm with Paints the way you are with Appys, I want them all. Even though I have no idea about training, etc.
❤️❤️
It's so sad to think that some of these horses have tragic endings, but there's so many people out there that only if they had resources to own a horse they'd take really good care of all of them.
I guess because I'm one of those people, it hits harder. If only I had those resources, I know I could give them a good home. Unfortunately though, it's just like you said - horses take a lot of time and money. I hope all of these horses, donkeys and mules get good homes.
Yes everything you said is so true.
All the poor horses it makes me cry and that one half lingers eye made me cry 😭
Same 🥺
Hope get bigger on utube that can save horse give it good life ❤
WOWWW!!!!!! love your account, ive commented before and you've answered as well!!! you are one of my idols x, i rode english my last lesson!! any tips for me?? it was a bit hard!! AND WHEN I GROW UP I WANNA BE JUST LIKE YOU!!
Thank you!!! It just takes time and patience.
I like that light colored Appaloosa nice size nice build nice temperament beach bed I don’t know yet?
Oh gosh was such low horse prices especially for those big draft horses the fear of them going to meet my goodness that weighs on my heart all the time❤
Most for to horse flippers.
My son got a Christmas pony at this auction . It’s his first horse so we got something that looked like it would be old and slow ! Also my sister in law bought the mini with the wagon lol they named him chippy !
That’s amazing!!!!!!!
So many beautiful horses. It would be cute to have a donkey.
Yes it would!
this is so sad! i hope they all get treated well and go to a loving home!
A lot are not going to a loving home
Most go to private homes or flippers.
Actually I know quite a few people who bought many of the horses there 🤷♀️
That black horse with weird white markings at the 8:30 mark is likely old injuries. The hair usually grows back white. A great way to check for issues as, pin firing, saddle sores and old injuries becoming YOUR future issues. I couldn’t do auctions, I’d come home with every blind/lame/neglected horse I could find. And be still my heart for that little herd of donkeys trotting through.
That definitely wasn’t the case for that horse. Yes, what you’re saying is accurate and can happen, but it was more so genetics/coloring with that specific horse. I’m a professional saddle fitter and I know what you’re talking about and see that type of damage on a regular basis.
"Big fat pretty-lookin" cracked me up! Best way to describe a horse EVER lol
That made me laugh too 😂😂😂
Bless you
❤️
So SSOOOOO many to pick from.
One of those poliminos was one of my horses that I rode
Nice
This broke my heart, how can these magnificent animals have such little worth to people, they give so much to their humans to just be sent off and sold for next to nothing 😢....I can see so many of their spirits are broken, the look in their eyes fearful of the unknown. Bless them all❤
Sad but not surprising. People do they same with their dogs & cats. Discard them like old shoes and buy new shiny ones.
Wow! I have to thank you so much for the tips on buying from Auctions- I recently got 2 horses from an auction, a 6 year old Fresian mare and a 14 year old Fjord Stallion (That was gelded- He was a Stallion before I got him though). Again, thank you so much for all of tips on buying/looking for auction horses!
Wow that’s so exciting! Awesome. I’m glad I can help a little. ❤️
@@freespiritequestrian Not even a little! A whole bunch! I had to go to the auction alone so the tips really helped, especially since it was only my second-third time!
Good luck horse shae
