R.F.Kuang really writes very well and makes you cry as well... Im currently reading The Poppy War Trilogy as an introduction to R.F.Kuang and IM LOVING IT, i cant even hit a mosquito without remembering phrases from the book about war... (Read TW)
i read 3 books in october and i loved every single one of them!! i read the picture of dorian gray and it was INCREDIBLE i can’t believe i put it off for so long because i loved it so much. i also read the monk and robot duology by becky chambers and i also loved it so much. it is so comforting, heartwarming and wholesome and you just fall in love with the 2 characters in the less than 200 pages that each book is. they have so many sweet interactions and there’s also some interesting commentary when it comes to humanity and the planet. it’s a character driven, no plot just vibes story and it is the best 😭😭 all 3 books were 5 stars and definitely new all time favorites ✅
A month full of 5 stars that’s the energy I need😩👏 I’m so happy you loved Dorian gray and the robot duology sounds so fun!! I’m definitely a character driven girlie so I feel like I would love it too 🥰🌷
For Fantasy recs I highly recommend The Graceling Realm!!! The story is so interesting and I love the characters! I have the best time trying to figure out how the stories will undo themselves and they have some of the best romances I have seen. I also reccomend Daughter of the Moon Goddess the sequel is even coming out this month and I am so obsessed with the story and romance. I am going to just leave with these recs those. I am so glad you have such a great reading month and of course I hope you are doing well ❤✅
You can always count on Ali for the best recommendations 😩💗 I’ll definitely be adding these to my list + I’ve already heard of daughter of the moon goddess and it sounds right up my alley!! Thank you so much 🥰🌷
I’m in university right now studying sociology and Babel held up a flashlight to so many insights about being a POC in a PWC, I need to get my hands on a copy ASAP 💗💗

I started reading babel and absolutely adored it but I stopped because I didn’t have the time to fully soak it in. I’m planning to read it over my Christmas holidays but I also feel overwhelmed because I know it’s going to be a 5 stars and the masochist in me is prolonging this potential enjoyment. Idk if this is a me problem, but sometimes I avoid reading books I know I’m going to love and idk why 👉🏻👈🏻❓

Since I read Frankenstein I can't stop thinking about it. It was such a great reading experience. Every description of scenery I felt like I was standing in the corner watching everything unfold, smelling every smell, felling every felling. AMAZING.
I think so far this is the only fully positive review I’ve seen for Babel. Everywhere else just likes it,more mixed, and some just found it slow and and boring. I know that’s normal for a book but going from how Poppywar(Apprently only book 1 is the most loved) to one that has been more mixed to where it’s boring and not living up to the hype is interesting

I think The Winnowing Flame trilogy would be a nice fantasy series to try! it's not super lighthearted but I really enjoyed the characters and the world :)
Since you liked Frankenstein so much i suggest you read 'Poor Things by Alasdair Gray'. It plays with two stories; Beauty and the Beast and Frankenstein. It is also a re-imagination or an alternative narrative about Percy Shelley's first wife; Harriet (who drowned in lake while she was pregnent). It also plays with form (epistolary, found documents) , presents political allegory and unreliable narrators, packs themes of independence (a nod to the feminist discourse of Mary Wallstonecraft). It is tied not only to frankenstein (the novel)'s narrative but also to the real people who were involved in the writing of the novel.
Well I mean my birthday is on oct and I had a terrible month on my birthday I was studying for my midterm and scored badddddd, but it feels nice that you had a good month. Its nice to see u happy babygourlllll😂❤️❤️❤️
i'm sorry to hear you didn't have the best month 🥺 sending you the absolute best vibes for november, i hope you catch a break and get to do things that make you happy 💗
For fantasy, I recommend: The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. There are 9 books, but it's easy reading. It take place during the Napolanic Wars where dragons exist. One of the British Navy ships captures a dragon egg and the captain bonds with the dragon. Temeraire the dragon is so endearing and so is their bond. Each book take place in a different country. I also recommend Caraval and its sequel trilogy Never After by Stephanie Garber. Caravel is about two sisters, Scarlet and Dontella, who live with their abusive of father and to escape him Donatella writes to the traveling they loved hearing as children, carnival/game's ringmaster, Legend, to invite them to travel with it. On the way, Tella gets kidnapped and with help from a sailor, Julian, Scarlet plays the game to find her. But nothing is what it seems and you can't trust anyone.

one of the strangest moments of my reading year was near the end of long live the pumpkin queen when sally encounters a sleeping queen elizabeth ii and is filled with admiration for her. for me, she had been dead for two days and there was a significant push to re-examine her legacy as a colonizer and not whitewash her past simply because she was now deceased. not blaming the author, but the tonal whiplash was considerable.
What was your tabbing system for Babel? Babel and the ballad of never after were my favourite October reads....... And i gave long live the pumpkin queen 1/5😆😆
That's so funny I also chose White Horse as my November book! I added on The Keeper of Night too. Honestly I was so torn between White Horse and Someday, Maybe but decided to go with a genre I could rely on (Horror) instead of Literary Fiction for my first book.
Expectations are EVERYTHING. Mine were way too high for "Mexican Gothic" and then I was disappointed by the end, but looking back it wasn't terrible -- just wasn't groundbreaking.
✅ I read only 3 books this month, all of which were just a reread of my fav series and this video made me feel sm better abt it, your wrap ups are everything 😭 Here’s to an even better November for the both of us
i just wanted to say that this month i read The invisible life of Addie Larue pretty much because of you and now it's one of my favorite book of all time !! so thank you ig >< ❤❤
Ooh I want to read Legends & Lattes too! I’ve only heard good things. The only book I read in October was Cemetery Boys and I enjoyed it but it wasn’t amazing. But it does have really really strong characters and character relationships and great for spooky season 😊
For fantasy, if you haven't already read it -- Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson is just soo good and fun to read! Also technically SF but I think you'd also like Arc of the Scythe series by Neal Shusterman!
I want to read Babel so badly but I low-key went crazy the last few times I went book shopping and I cannot justify getting another one but oh my god it sounds so good
Glad your reading month went well 💙✨🫰 Since you are in fantasy Era again... Maybe it's time for the Green bone saga?? ✅💚 It might be hard to get through in the beginning (I was hooked chapter one tho) but when you are there YOU ARE THERE for the Kaul Family because the clan is my blood and the pillar is its master I really recommend the audiobook to read along the books 🤞🥠

back here for another fantasy rec! it's not urban fantasy (which is the sub-genre crescent city is under apparently) but perhaps you'd like freya marske's the last binding series---it currently has 2 books and and upcoming 3rd one! it's a very lovely read with an equally lovely queer cast of characters AND a rather cute fusion of magic and mystery anddd i have no clue if you've read heaven's official blessing but i have a feeling you'd LOVE it (if i'm wrong pls dont sue me)
For fantasy recommendations I highly recommend The Ravenwood Saga by Morgan L Busse it is such a great story and it’s a trilogy. I love all the characters in this book series you will get very attached to them and the romance subplot in the series is just amazing and sweet.
Wait, I was not aware that Fangs was written by Sarah Andersen! I've been a fan of her comics for years, and I'd heard of Fangs but never connected the name! Now I *definitely* need to pick up a copy for myself, especially since you recommended it.
Have you read The Inheritance of Orquidea Divina? Your description of Mexican Gothic makes me think you might enjoy that one (sorry if you already read it, I can't really remember lol)
For high fantasy recs try The Bone Shard Daughter, I read it last year and really enjoyed it and for another one try the Green Bone Saga the first book being Jade City.. Loved your wrap up, I have been trying to get more into classics do you know of any that I can start out with?? Please and thank you!!!

nooooooooo ahahaha i just finished yesterday or something the graveyard book and i loved it But i understand it is very sloooooow paced ahahaha I was not in time to watch it during the lunch break, but i am watching the video now
a fantasy book you should definitely read is belle révolte by linsey miller! it's somewhat based on the french revolution i think, as it is a revolution that is in a country that is modelled after french. it's in a world where men and women have different magic, with men's being medical based and women's is more household stuff. it's really interesting, especially as it includes multiple enby characters, as well as other lgbtq+ rep ✅
Hii, I want to buy a gift for my brother, a manga. What would you recommend for a begginer? I know he only read death note and really loved it. Thanks :)
You should read the Scholomance series by Naomi Novak!! It’s like Harry Potter but for adults and more inclusive! It had me sobbing and screaming and laughing and it literally stole my heart. Could not recommend enough!
I want you to know that i LOVE your videos but im such a bad subscriber, i always forgot to comment, and like!!! Ill try to do it mire often!!!! ✅️✅️✅️
The Graveyard Book and Coraline are written for children. Maybe, try one of his adult books before giving up on Neil Gaiman. I didn't mind Coraline, but it's clearly not written for me, whereas I've really like some of his other works - maybe try NeverWhere? I found American Gods a little - blokey...

Wait, I was not aware that Fangs was written by Sarah Andersen! I've been a fan of her comics for years, and I'd heard of Fangs but never connected the name! Now I *definitely* need to pick up a copy for myself, especially since you recommended it.

amazon 💗
Bella I have a kdrama recommendation for you.. please watch Crash Landing on you
Girl when I tell you this is one you can't miss 💕💕💜
i loved crash landing on you 💗🥰
a fantasy book you should definitely read is belle révolte by linsey miller! it's somewhat based on the french revolution i think, as it is a revolution that is in a country that is modelled after french. it's in a world where men and women have different magic, with men's being medical based and women's is more household stuff. it's really interesting, especially as it includes multiple enby characters, as well as other lgbtq+ rep ✅
Hii, I want to buy a gift for my brother, a manga. What would you recommend for a begginer? I know he only read death note and really loved it. Thanks :)
If he loves Deathnote I recommend Fullmetal Alchemist or Tokyo Ghoul 💗
Hey, Bella. You're nice keep going 💜
🥹💗🫶
You should read the Scholomance series by Naomi Novak!! It’s like Harry Potter but for adults and more inclusive! It had me sobbing and screaming and laughing and it literally stole my heart. Could not recommend enough!

thank you 🥺💗🫶
The Graveyard Book and Coraline are written for children. Maybe, try one of his adult books before giving up on Neil Gaiman. I didn't mind Coraline, but it's clearly not written for me, whereas I've really like some of his other works - maybe try NeverWhere? I found American Gods a little - blokey...
