British Open Paramotor Championship Documentary (1/3)

- Having attended my first paramotor competition last year, knowing there wasn't much information regarding what classic paramotor competitions are, I decided to film/document my experience of The British Open Paramotor Championship 2020.
I entered into the Club Pilot class. A new class added for the 2020 championship which is aimed at introducing new pilots with lower airtime into the competition scene. I fully support the addition of the Club Pilot class as it provided the perfect base to go from knowing nothing about competitions to how each task can be planned for and completed.
This is part 1 of 3 of the British Open Paramotor Championship Documentary. In this episode we get registered, look over the kit we've brought with us, fly the local area to get used to our surroundings and I deal with an engine out.

I found this to be a superb insight into competitions for the completely uninitiated. Thanks for going to the trouble of making this - really enjoyed it. 👍😁
Thanks Dan, the comps were great. I think there’s a little ways to go to make them even more accessible to new comers but they’re definitely getting better!
Brilliant! I had to isolate during the comp but I followed on the live tracker and even watched pilots flying over my house near Nantwich.
That’s a shame. I think the live tracking is a nice touch 👍
Thanks for putting this together, I had fun watching it!! Looking forward to watch the rest 😁💥
Glad you enjoyed it Angelo! Part 2 is out this Saturday at 6pm. I think it’s my favourite part 👍
Great insight into what it's all about. Thanks for making the effort to put this together. Looking forward to the next ones !
I’m a bit bias but I think the next part is the best one! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Amazing job Dan! Not only did you have to get to grips with competition, but you also juggled documenting it! I can see this video being very popular, so all that work will be worth it! Look forward to the next one. 👍
Thanks mate, I’m not sure I’ll be able to do a similar thing this year as I’ll be entering into the main championship. There’s going to be a lot more flying hours and tasks to think about. Knowing me I’ll probably try though 😂
@@DanielJonesParamotor - No need mate, you have done more than enough to show what it’s about, good luck this year, hope it’s an epic one!
Thanks for sharing your experience, I found this a real interesting view of competition flying at an entry level. Nicely done 👍🏼
Thanks Rob, I’m glad it’s come across well. I enjoyed the comp last year so much so that I’m entering into the main championship this year. I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep up the same level of production because there’ll be a lot more to think about but I’ll probably try!
Great vid Dan to comp and blog at the same time 'respect man' .
Thanks Wayne, I think talking to myself whilst flying the tasks actually made it easier!
Great stuff Dan, looking forward to the rest. 👍
Thanks Chris, glad it’s being well received. Next episode is out this Saturday at 6pm. Although, judging by the weather we’ll all be out flying 😅
Great insight. Thanks. Good work.
Home turf this year Chris, you in?
Excellent! Wish I'd had something like this to look at before my first comp.
Good to hear it’s being received well. I hope it inspires some more folks to give it a go. I definitely learnt a lot.
That was brilliant! Really informative and well put together. Really looking forward to the next two! 👍🏻
Thanks Edward, hopefully this series showcases how accessible the comps are
Awesome 👌 excellent video!!!
Thanks Johnny! Glad you enjoyed watching. Part 2 is out if haven’t seen it already 👌
Great footage Dan, nice to see how it all works!
I pretty much filmed everything I could, I’m glad it’s come across well!
@@DanielJonesParamotor it really did, even got me interested for the future!
That’s great to hear! I’d definitely recommend it to anyone to try at least once. Great atmosphere there.
Great to see what a comp looks like. Not so daunting after all! Those map boards look fiddly though!
They’re not so bad once you get used to them. I think the worst part is launching. I’m quite short anyway so mine bangs around my knees but should be able to fix that with a clip to get it out the way a bit more 👍
Nice video, where do you normally fly?
I think I'll need a few brews for this one.
It’s certainly a long one! Hopefully packed with useful information for folks interested
