    We gotta meet up and play Axis & Allies Global 1940 with the Bloodbath rule set. 8 turns. Up to the Axis to win with 12 VPs. Not just victory cities…many way for the Axis to win (Atlantic Wall for example) Other house rules too…paratroopers..different tech..etc. Updated map aw well.

    Axis & Allies Classic was released in 1984, next year will be the 40th anniversary of the game line (not counting the nova edition). The last Axis & Allies WWII game was released in 2012 (the Europe & pacific 1940 2nd edition releases).

    I haven’t played the big ones yet (Europe and Pacific 1940), but I recently started playing Axis & Allies recently (online), and it’s a blast. Like a step above RISK but not quite as rule heavy as other War Games.

    Bought A&A way back in 1984 in a Toys R Us in Montreal (my home town) and me and my high school buddies played the heck out of it. I also had Shogun that came out a few years later

    The tracker board for the IPCs is moved as you capture or lose various locations. It's meant to show how many IPCs you will earn each turn, not how many you have to spend. Enjoy your videos!

    • @TheDiscriminatingGamer
      @TheDiscriminatingGamer  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thanks. Yeah, the problem is then you don't have any thing to track how much you have to spend so that you can carry it over to the next turn. That's why I prefer some kind of currency to help you track that.

    Random thoughts :
    The board is twice the size of normal AA! I have to play on the floor.
    I use monopoly money to track my soending.
    The rules are convoluted . I set up my board and stared at it fir a week before playing. Even the folks at boardgamegeeks seem to disagree on some interpretations.
    It’s insane to attack Pearl Harbor early on. The IPC bonus to the USA will kill Japan and once Japan loses its navy too early, it should just resign, game is over essentially.
    I can barely tell the difference betwwen cruiser and destroyer pieces. Or US / Chinese infantry.

    • @TheDiscriminatingGamer
      @TheDiscriminatingGamer  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I don’t think the rules are too convoluted. I think an important part of the game is deciding when or if at all Japan should attack the U.S. agreed on the similarities of ships.

    I hope you’ll do a review/opinion on A&A Global where you combine this with 1940 Europe, but I noticed you already said it’s doubtful. I know it’s not easy to get to the table, but it’s a special experience. You need the space to set it up, enough players and enough time, but for me it’s worth the effort.
    I can’t compare to War Room though.

    The original Pacific A&A was Great, no endless back & forth, just 7 turns+/- a couple maybe. The strategic bombing can be critical for the allies if Japan is not otherwise losing, it can take away Japan's victory points. I recall figuring around 30 fighters needed in Japan for the single round interception combat, after that plus anti aircraft combat, it's unlikely to happen again. Japan has to use it's time carefully before the allies overwhelm them as it was historically done. It's fun having the most income as Japan, but totally unrealistic.
