The lore is short and simple: There was a fight going on outside the pub. The lantern was the closest thing he could grab. During the fight he was teleported to the summoners rift. He fights with it to this day.
I love to see the older characters finally getting fleshed out - even if its really short storys, its better than "hes a minotaur that fights in the noxian pits", "hes darius´s brother and hes an executioner" or "hes a dude with a lantern as a weapon" Now i want rammus, gragas and maokai to get some more lore, too

I've been playing league for about a year now (playing on and off throughout the months) and a couple months ago i got into the lore of league of legends because i felt that it would be cool to know more about a champion than just their abilities. Although i don't know where to start watching your/someone else's videos because it seems like almost every time, a video links into a previous video and i get lost in what is going on. Can you make some sort of list or a starting point or a brief summary video to get all the other people like me up to date with what is going on please? :)
You have to read a lot to get what's happening there's almost 150 champions and the stories are spread among them all. I would recommend watching the timeline video Necrit did and start from there with the champions that directly tie with the events. Also read some side stories like "Where Icathia once stood" to get a general grasp on the general conflict and it's origins. The comics also provide a good amount of info. Depending on which zone you would like to start I could recommend something.
When i got into the lore of 40k i felt the same but you will start picking up on those things mentioned offhand sooner or later I recommend watching the legends of runterra lore vids to get a general grip on what tbe regions are abaut
