Lyrics đąđąđą:
Please don't tell me you're about to do what I think you'll do
You've heard theâ legendsâ of the islandâ in the sky, this proves they'reâ true
We're in the home of the wind god
We don't know for sure
How many floating islands have you seen before?
This is the home of the wind god
And what's your plan?
I'm gonna climb to the top and ask 'em for a hand
You could be caught off guard and lose your life
Or piss off this god and infuse us with strife
Don't forget how dangerous the gods are
Have faith, friend, we've come this far
Yes, but how much longer til your luck runs out?
How much longer 'til the show goes south?
How much longer 'til we all fall down?
You rely on wit, and people die on it, woah
I still believe in goodness
I still believe that we could be kind
Lead from the heart, and see what starts
And what will we do when it tears us apart?
Where is this coming from, my friend?
I just don't wanna see another life end
You're like the brother I could never do without
And suddenly you doubt that I could figure this out?
Captain, how much longer til your luck runs out?
How much longer 'til the show goes south?
How much longer 'til we all fall down?
You rely on wit, and people die on it, woah
How much longer 'til the snake breaks free?
How much longer 'til your great days cease?
How much longer 'til your strength takes leave?
You rely on wit, and people die on it, woah
Thank you for the concern but brother I can assure you
Our journey is almost done
I understand that we're tired
I understand that we're fazed
But don't forget how much we've already faced
I took six hundred men to war and not one of them died there
In case you needed a reminder
If you'd like to speak more, let me pull you aside then
I need to talk to you in private
I can't have you planting seeds of doubt
I can't have you disagreeing each route
I need you to always be devout and comply with this
Or we'll all die in this
Okay?
Okay
Thank you - Hudba
The little callback to Open Arms, I can't đ
I know I already commented but I can't stop thinking about Ody not wanting anyone to question his decisions, given the line "I need you to always be devout, and comply with this, or we'll all die in this." Why is he suddenly acting like this? Is it because he's both the captain and the king of Ithaca, and thus his word is law?
No.
It's because the last time someone questioned him, it led to death. Polites challenged the mindset he learned from Athena, and tried to teach him that mercy is still an option and that it's okay to be kind even to foes. Combine that with what happened to Polites shortly after, it's no wonder Odysseus doesn't want anyone to undermine him and his decisions. He doesn't want anyone else to die as a result of them questioning what he's doing.
Look at what happens when the crew opens the bag he gets from Aeolus. Poseidon is able to track them down and drown 500+ men. All because they didn't listen to Ody.
i don't see a reason why he would be stern about his decision. i can see that happening during and after "Keep Your Friends Close" (with winions planting the "it's treasure!" seed on the crew's head) but it kinda came out of the left field in this one.
Polites did challenged his mind set but Odysseus still believed in that mindset ("i still believed in goodness, i still believe that we could be kind") even after the "incident".
and to a certain degree, he was rewarded for believing in others (Aeolus actually bottled up the storm) but this song is prior to that.
and the "incident" with Polyphemus doesn't really provide a reason for the undermining part either? cause Odysseus already spiked the wine prior to the engagement so he's following Polites' mind set (trying to settle this peacefully) while still knowing that some enemy might not follow that mind set. he did a great job directing his soldiers and his soldiers are actually listening to him. right before the club came out and (sadly) hit Polites first which made Odysseus freezes up. more of an unlucky situation rather than anyone's fault.
To be fair, the Polites episode happens AFTER this segment. Odysseus still hasn't gotten the lesson that he SHOULD be harsh, demanding and uncompromising with anyone if he wants to get home with the rest of his crew.
He literally said he was gonna go to the Wind Gods home.. and came back with a mysterious bag⊠why the fuck did they still open it đđ
Temptation. The Winions, or just servants or creations of Aeolus, tempted the crew with the idea that the bag was filled with treasure. They played on the crew's curiosity, tempting their hand to disobey Odysseus.
Whole series is amazing
