I spent about 6 mths being a Lot Porter, basically cleaning cars be they newly bought or post maintenance. Originally I worked 6 days a week or maybe it was 5 I don't know remember, but I'd work from 7a-8p each day I had to work during the week and 9a-8p on Saturdays and 12p-6p on Sundays. Was only paid $10/hr, cussed out by several sales people and mechanics. After awhile I told the general manager, "hey man, I'm in school studying, I can't be doing this many hours." So I was dropped down to about 25-30 hrs a week and once I got a contractor job offer, I quit that day from the dealership.
Summer job Warehouse order picker (small warehouse, items were for gas stations/deli’s so mainly counter goods travel size medication, notepads, etc.) $10hr/cash this was all the way in 2012 so the minimum was like $7 or $8 , my aunt was the only worker there apart from the owner (he would deliver the orders so he was basically never there) so it was a good, light place of work for me. I thank my aunt the whole time for getting me the summer job 😀

When I was an apprentice I was working a job that had A LOT of downtime. I'm talking 12 hours and only doing 6-8 hours of work. Well my boss had me clean the bathrooms and I hated every minute of it. Felt so degrading and I was treated like shit and just wanted to quit but then I realized that these guys were paying me double time ($58 an hour) to clean the toilets. My attitude did a complete 180 and cleaning the bathrooms wasn't so bad anymore.

MY first job was like yours. My parent placed me in there for work experience, but the big difference was that I wasn't getting paid. AT ALL. My last day though. I got paid. I worked 12 hours a day for 7 days a week. Guess how much I got paid......200 dollars. I did two positions at the same time too. Babysitting and salon cleaning. I was 14 years old and i quit at 16. I worked that non-paying job for two years and didn't get a dime. Looking back at it now. It taught me to make sure I was getting paid before starting a job.
My parents sent me to work on my Uncles Ranch one summer. Sounds fun, but this was a big ass ranch. I got put under one of his supervisors and basically would do lawn mowing, weed eating, hay bailing, plumbing/irrigation stuff, and all while this supervisor watched doing nothing and would lob used chewing tobacco at me (he called these doobies btw). I worked there for the better part of 2 months working 8 hour days every day except Sunday. When I left, my uncle handed me an envelope with my pay. Deadass had 300$.

MY first job was like yours. My parent placed me in there for work experience, but the big difference was that I wasn't getting paid. AT ALL. My last day though. I got paid. I worked 12 hours a day for 7 days a week. Guess how much I got paid......200 dollars. I did two positions at the same time too. Babysitting and salon cleaning. I was 14 years old and i quit at 16. I worked that non-paying job for two years and didn't get a dime. Looking back at it now. It taught me to make sure I was getting paid before starting a job.

My parents sent me to work on my Uncles Ranch one summer. Sounds fun, but this was a big ass ranch. I got put under one of his supervisors and basically would do lawn mowing, weed eating, hay bailing, plumbing/irrigation stuff, and all while this supervisor watched doing nothing and would lob used chewing tobacco at me (he called these doobies btw). I worked there for the better part of 2 months working 8 hour days every day except Sunday. When I left, my uncle handed me an envelope with my pay. Deadass had 300$.
