Another awesome episode today, Tony. When you were discussing the first resophinic, you mentioned you got it around the time you moved to Montana in 2008. Believe it or not, that made me wonder how old Aden is. As if you're totally clairvoyant, you answered that question later in the show (~24:20). Absolutely amazing! Also congrats on picking a name for TNT ("the next Tony" progeny). Cheers to you, Whit and Emerson Townes!
Thanks for bringing up the Billy Cardine and Biscuit Burners. My friend, John Doan (whose Cascadeville album I sent you back in May 2018) introduced me to the Biscuit Burners a few years ago. John is a pretty tasteful resophonic player himself (along with anything else that has strings).
BTW, for my preference among the resonators, it's a tossup between the Belle Beard and the Mule. They have strikingly different looks and tone, but I love them both. The full, rich sound of the Beard with all its overtones is stunning. The story of acquiring the Mule while you had on review, coupled with the Charlie Parr imagery, make that one very special. And the Emerald Amicus is in a league by itself!

I picked up a Morrel round neck this winter. This is my first resonator. I didn't know much about their construction and how they made sound, so it is a fun learning experience. The guitar came set up with a high nut made of bone, so I had a luthier friend shave it down to play at a more standard height for a round neck. I also put a lighter gauge of strings on, I think .012 for the high E string. Since I am a standard tuning fingerpicker, I love taking old church hymns and stylizing them to the resonator. The sound is very unique. I play acoustic guitar in church on a regular basis, so this may be an avenue to add something unique to a house of worship.

I have a republic guitar, a Duolian. I have no-problem with the guitar now but I had to set the action and put match sticks in screw holes that was stripped out. Action was to high. Guitar was made in China but thought I was buying from usa. I was very pissed off . When i had a close look at the setup it was easy to rectify.

I play slide with my middle finger and can still finger chords with the other three. A resonator is on the list of guitars I still need, (want). lol I need to replace one of my 12 string guitars first. I like having one tuned standard and one tuned down a step. A segment on 12 string guitars would be great. I'll keep asking. Thanks for all the shows!

My resonators are an OMI brass roundneck Dobro, Gretsch roundneck Boxcar, Republic brass roundneck tricone, Recording King Dirty 30's resonator, and a National Resophonic Weathered Steel Style-O. My favorite is the one I'm playing at any particular time.

So crazy that you made this episode when you did because I have just purchased my first resonator guitar. Its a Kentucky brand tri-cone. It is a rare prototype that never made it to production! Great episode on teaching me about the different types of resonator guitars. Love the show 🎸!!

Congrads on the mandolin purchase! I've been playing one for some time. Now, I'm working on the fiddle too since it's tuned the same as a mandolin. I gotta say bowing the fiddle/violin is the hardest part. Best of luck with your mandolin. I know you will be shredding it in no time! P.S...I sent you something with a skull on it.

Supro Collegian - Biscuit bridge & cone? Beard vintage R - Spider bridge, different cone type- huge differences in sound but you don't mention the most important and differing characteristics of these two types of reso guitars!! For anybody wanting to learn about resos they need to know this difference so I'm surprised you don't mention them when showing the guitars.

Tony, is this the same amazing sounding National/Supro that you're playing in this video?...www.bfanaticguitarworks.com/?lens_portfolio=yellow-frosted-duco-collegian...I love that instrument...
The clip of Billy Cardine and Debashish Bhattacharya reminded me of a record that Ry Cooder made in the early '90s with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt called 'Meeting By The River' - beautiful record...
Finally my personal hero when it comes to resonator guitars is Chris Whitley (RIP) who, although clearly rooted in traditional blues playing, expanded the range of the resonator voice in a host of different directions...I think the records 'Living With The Law', 'Dirt Floor' and 'Hotel Vast Horizon' are great examples of his creative uses of the resonator sound, both amplified and acoustic...
Thanks for a super-inspiring video Tony!
