  • The Canon RF 24-105 f4-7.1 is a full frame lens for R cameras that works very well on the R50 and likely other Canon APS-C sensor cameras. It is often a bargain because it is sometimes sold as a kit lens. Watch this video to learn more.

Thanks for the video! I just bought the very same setup. Refurbished R50 with kit 18-45mm lens, $449.00! Then found the Canon refurbished 24-105mm lens for $219.00. I had been looking at the 18-150mm lens also but couldn't pass on the 24-105 (38-168). My next lens will be the 10-18mm as well. Thank you for spending your time to be helpful and paying it forward.

@@chuckaluck5999 Canon refurbished. I paid a total of $234.00 3/22/24, but I see now it is listed at $319.00. I have also noticed big price differences on the Canon Refurbished site for the same item. It pays to watch for a couple of days. All carry a 'new' warranty.

Thank you! For less than $200 this lens is certainly hard to beat. At full price though, maybe the RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM (even though it cost 25% more) is a better choice since the effective focal range, 28.8-240mm, is arguably more versatile?

I haven't tested the 18-150, so I can't make a direct comparison. For me, the most important lens for the R50 is the 10-18 that came out recently. For some, that lens, combined with the kit lens, will meet their needs. I don't have a problem jumping from 18 to 24mm and I don't really need a lens longer than 105, so this combo works for me. I looked on EBAY and found that it is quite easy to buy the 24-105 for under $300 without even bidding at auction. I suspect lots of owners of other R cameras sell this lens when they are buying L lenses. I wish I could give you a clear cut answer.

The 18-150 is a much better choice. They are plentiful and can be found for around $300 on the second hand market. The 18-150 is better in every way. Smaller, lighter, better image quality, brighter aperture, and a much wider zoom range.

I shot that on a Canon M6 Mark II and likely used a Vivid choice in camera. I shot it at 4k 30 fps MP4. I did not do any color grading in post. Newer videos are shot with a Lumix GH6 without post processing as well.

@@uncunvenchunalwisdom As I was looking at your tools that you were shooting I thought if you like static subjects like I also enjoy shooting, I really enjoyed shooting my adventures in the Philippines where most people speak english and compared to static subjects the phillipines is full of unexpected opportunities and many people there love to have foreigners take pictures of them and they are excited to be a part of your adventure.
As being an older gentleman like myself I can say you will feel 30 years younger as they do not look at older folks the same way as they do here. they usually have a high level of respect for the older folks like us. I would not hesitate to recommend if you can afford the round trip plane ticket 3k and between $15 to $35 per night average for a descent hotel in most cities and $4 to $6 per meal in any fast food or a descent restaraunt and much cheaper if your willing to risk the dozens of street food vendors remember do not drink ice in your cola and only drink bottled water.
If you have a wife then the plane and food expense will be doubled. If you do not have one then most likely you will meet some very fine single women some single mothers, some widows and some who have never been married.
It would be a lot better if you know someone who has a family there or an American who already lives or is visiting there to help guide and advise you at least for the first week. There are many Islands there and I have visited many of them. Luzon is the main island where Manila is located. Baguio city is about 4 hrs north and have quite cool temperatures and is more expensive to visit because of being a more tourist oriented city. Mindanao is nice but used to be in the red zone. I spent most of my time there with no problems at all. Davao is the most tourist friendly and safe because their wonderful former president is from there, that is if Mindanao will be a place to visit.
Many foreigners visit Dumaguete on the island of Negros just below the island if Cebu. there is a very laid back island named Sigijour close to Dumaguete and I rented a very modest room for 550 peso per night and rented an automatic scooter for only 350 peso per day and is a nice safe place to ride with little traffic for 1 night and 2 days. I met a quite lovely lady from France who had been traveling alone for 53 days when we met and we went to a nice waterfall and beach resort who rented modern tent cabins for 1500 pesos per night although I did not stay there.
I suggest going for no less than 8 weeks or longer if your going to visit more than one or two islands and flights between island average between 5 and 7,000 pesos one way. most taxis will be between 2 to 300 pesos and tricycles around 50 pesos each way. 50 or more pesos exchange for 1 dollar.
If you or anyone who reading this comment would like to consider the Philippines I suggest finding a few youtube videos from people your age to get a feel of the place first. also a lady named filipina pea has some good info but its geared more toward foreign single guys.
Good luck and thanks for your informative videos.

@ntis5959 The fact that you have zero content on your account makes your question seem a little less relevant. I watched all of his videos and my suggestion was given on this video because it was the last one posted. “Travel and photography have always been intertwined. I think we have such a brief amount of time in this world that I can’t think of a better use of it than to travel, to photograph the world, to experience life in different places. To me, there’s nothing more important than that.” ~ Steve McCurry
