The scary thing about the hawks is that there’s still pieces of the puzzle missing and they’re so young, get ready for another dynasty.
They will be a formidable team in years to come. I do not believe they will improve next year as their draw will get harder. Albeit they may defy the odds. But the natural trajectory of a team climbing out of the bottom 4 is never linear. The crows found that out this year.
Hawks fan here. I think the evenness of the competition is doing us, and many teams, a lot of favours in terms of keeping finals hopes alive. I don’t think we make finals this year but confident we can stay relevant for the rest of the decade

Easy to talk about the Ginni trade AFTER the fact. He has matured under Sam Mitchell and since last year, and also playing in a different system.
Everyone knew and talked about Hawthorn getting him for barely nothing. It was a bad trade then and it is a bad trade now.
Yeah he looked real mature saturday. Absolute flog the way he disrespected the club after playing in a flag last year. He is a liability mark my words.
His footy may have matured but he still has the brain of a 12 year old. He is a tool.

Collingwood needs to recruit that young whipper snapper live wire Hawthorn player Jack Ginnivan to bring some energy and enthusiasm back in the team. That’s what I think! 🤔
Oldest team last year, traded tons of youth out and picks out. They thought they could go back to back, they cant and are paying for it now. Bad mistake to make and might cost them for years

@@shmick6079 Every team has injuries, the issue is lack of anyone to replace them. Because they kept trading out young players and first round picks for old players. They absolutely need players like Ollie Henry and Ginnivan atm, refuse to play ash johnson (he isnt great to be fair) trading out first round picks for 28yo small forwards ect. They should retire pendles, sidebottom, cox, howe ect before its the end of this squad
@@Tosicc567 it’s true, but when you’re making 3+ changes every week with senior players in and out all the time you lose consistency.
Plus, you’re carrying multiple inexperienced guys and asking to do more than they should be.
@@shmick6079 yeah and all thats due to bad list managment. Old guys get injured easier, if you are relying on 5 or more players over 32 you messed up. Same thing with west coast (except they have more talented youth now) The pies have what, daicos and uhhhhh
No one ever mentions losing Nathan Murphy in the back line he really tightened us up
what nonsense by King, as long as Jack never had alcohol, got home and in bed to get a good night rest, wasn't out for too long what's the issue with being out before the Grand Final? For some players its beneficial to go and do something to take your mind off the biggest game of your life.

This is very interesting as both sides are true. Coach being “blindsided” in his mind by not being told and Jack just having a harmless night, probably to quiet his mind before the game.
They need to send Darcy Moore to the vfl. They need howe down forward. Even better they need a better forward line and back line. They stuffed up with ginniy should have never trade him for a spud.
You could list half the team out of form or playing un-Collingwood like. Bobby Hill had a good second half, but whats going on with him? Seems to offload to a teammate rather than kick a goal, and his passes are terrible. You can list so many examples.
@@imalwaysright seems like his got no confidence anymore I have no idea. Then you got the 2 brothers Nick was great last year now his dropped a bit. There's a few players that could be going I reckon. If they keep Pendles on I'll be really happy

When was the last time collingwood played on from a mark? We just need to run and gun if we want to be run and gun, fly changed too much this season, back to our DNA. If we are zoning, we should get back to the game style that complements zoning. Quaynor and Noble are getting overworked hence 4:10, make them running halfbacks, like they are meant to be, 4:59 of course our leg speed is bad, our fast players aren’t playing as fast playing! Schultz just doesn’t fit great, We need another winger to help Sidebottom be benchable! Ginni trade hurt us, Murphy hurt us, depending on Mihocek hurts us. Maybe get a Oscar Allen, a Harrison Jones, A Bailey Smith! Its good to have an experienced core, but they are gonna leave in the next few years, we can’t build only off of Quaynor, Noble, Harrison, Daicos x2, Bobby, Sullivan, Richards, Schultz, Cameron. We need more Young 20-24 Midfielders, Talls, and keys.
they've only got 28,44 and 46 as a draft hand currently. Unless they've got some miracle trades up their sleeve, they're gonna have to get creative and then some! B. Hill has currency, but wouldn't be great if he left......if the club doesn't see itself bottoming out or heading towards the bottom 6 of the ladder, it's going to have to use future picks and ignore the draft to trade in talent around those you mentioned. Risky idea. Schultz trade, with the benefit of hindsight considering the cost - might be more a 'bust' than not.
Too old, too slow and not a great kicking team with not much quality youth on the list. The future is bleak for the Pies, who will go the way of the Tigers next season …
Beating Collingwood is good for the ego but this is not the team from 2022, 2023. Our gameplan was figured out at the end of last season and other teams have matched our hunger and conditioning. That said, if the Pies happen to land 1-2 talented mids in free agency, they will assault Hawthorn next year. Beyond next year the Hawks should be thereabouts and good on em. As for Ginny, we played 1 player down in the 2023 GF. It's sad that he got the medal over guys like Noble and Adams. Footy is cruel sometimes.
Yeah and he was the highest rated player at the weekend and had the most disposals he's had in a match. Everyone has their opinion on Jack and as a Hawks fan I didn't like him or his behaviour at the Pies but I was pretty pleased to get him for what we gave up. Time will tell if his personality traits and personality issues cause more damage than good. It appears that his energy is rubbing off positively on a young exciting Hawthorn group and he's a lot freer than he was at the Pies, who had a much older and mature group who were right on the path to glory. Different lists, coaches and circumstances, I can understand why he rubbed other players and coaches the wrong way. Behaviour aside, from a limited sample size it appears the Pies pigeonholed Jack a little bit as a crafty small forward whos sole job was to kick goals and paly close to goal. He's been a lot more than that at Hawthorn, playing way higher up the ground, his footy IQ is really good, he's a great link player and gets involved in a lot of scoring chains and is averaging a lot higher disposals per game. That's down to Sam's excellent coaching and Jack's talent, but also I think a little bit of the Pies underestimated Jack the player and using him differently in their system.
@@jsequine927Just to be clear, I think it is a fantastic acquisition for the Hawks. I just don't agree with Kane Cornes saying that the Pies gave up on him. His time at the Pies was done and he is now in the best possible place to give his career every chance of success. We move on, can't win em all!

Thank god king said it all these other journos suddenly calling ginivan trade a mistake now when they were it calling a good move last year over one game.
When hawks are in contention is when we'll see him be a depth player again and the shenanigans kick off.
the pies needed to not have over 60 plus combined games missed from their team last year that mightve helped just a small amount id guess.

7:56 exactly!!!!! Not only did Jack decide it was a smart idea to attend the races. But constantly through out the whole year was causing issues with players inside the club and becoming a political issue outside the club with his drug habits
Tom Mitchell, Sidebottom and Cox needs to go imo. they r good players some weeks but we need younger players who can keep going and be consistent

@short_macchiato3222 Ofcourse - the last 2 min in GF while shocking was at the same time very funny and expected especially after the "events" of Collingwoods 2023 season. I witnessed a GF being given to the CFC, something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. What an anticlimax at the end. As a Pies fan don't you cringe watching that last couple min back?
