I hope Amanda realizes that when she messes up on screen, that elevates her status, not diminishes it. For me, I feel her confidence and charisma IN the moments she doesn't know who Harambe is, or laughs all the time in TNTL because her reactions are so genuine. It shows how she is completely comfortable in her own skin and doesn't let others' opinions get to her. She is my lifegoals. She is mother, she is queen.

i think the best part about amanda not knowing harambe wasn't even the fact that she didn't know, but the way she reacted. "HARAMBE DESERVED TO LIVE!" and "IS THERE A PROTEST I CAN GO TO?" in the most earnest and sincere voice i've ever heard will never leave my brain.

In some ways, the Lego Movie is similar. We're told for ages that Emmet is "the Special" only to reveal that the prophecy was made up. But Emmet's belief in himself and his ability to inspire others still did make him special.
I guess the dragon scroll in Kung Fu Panda might also work the same way. Although it's a little confusing. The text of the scroll, the fact that it's a mirror, implies that anyone can unlock the power of the Dragon Warrior. Yet it only seems to actually apply to Po.

Same! I'm the type of person that rarely rewatch ANYTHING and I rewatch the Teletubbies Reunion many times now! But I guess, it'd be challenging to come up with a good sequel since most of their dirty laundry grievances have been aired in the video. 😅

Such a good character! And he managed to be soooo sleezy without being creepy. I think because his focus was more on how he himself (in character) was up for anything/"loose" and didn't direct it towards others. A good balance for him to play such a character without feeling like a creep

Oh, that would work so well and be so clever. Like just adding that "hidden mickey" in every video. They can have pictures and dolls as well so Shayne doesn't have to be there. To build on that "Shayne is in every video" joke. And as you said, perfect way to attract some extra comments.
The Bystander is only funny because of Angela's reaction. He only lives because of her.

One character that is not confident that comes to mind is Shayne's Crusty White Dog. This character made me laugh so bad, he is miserable (in the best way possible)

I think someone once in a Smosh video commented that all of Amanda's characters are these blue-collar workers for some reason, and usually revolve around them and their begrudging profession.

Thought I’d just say Smosh Mouth makes my Monday, living in the uk the episodes usually drop around when I’m starting to make dinner, so I’ll usually listen while doing that. Also the chemistry Shayne and Amanda have is really fun and makes the podcast what it is.
Same for me with lunch in New York.
I asked my mom the other day if she remembered Harambe and she said "no" i told her the gist of it and she said " wait that was his name?" like even she knew about it she just didn't know his name, so even an offline 44 year old mom knows Harambe
I don't know if he's done it but Shayne needs a character of a really smart guy trying to pretend he's dumb to fit in but keeps accidently saying smart things and walking it back.

Courtney playing Lizabelle Heinz, Chance playing Jerry the manager of the Spud Hut, Amanda playing Karen the black jack dealer, Shayne playing Aunt Caroline, Angela playing whatever she wants.

Ok I have a theory that is such a stretch, but I just need to say it.
Sarah Christ went to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights looking for The Creekside Killer. Patrick in that video was The Creekside Killer right? And in Amanda’s Funeral Roast, Shayne’s Benoit Blanc found out that Saxophone Guy was a killer, who was also played by Patrick.

I actually love how Shayne commented on him never wanting it to be the point of a joke that they play characters of opposite gender. I honestly have never got the vibe and that's so interesting to hear them being conscious about. Because smosh characters to me have never been that, it's never felt like a crossdressing joke or a joke about gender essentialism. In a bad way, that is. I think you can definitely bring up matters of gender essentialist thought in types of people by doing that, which to me the karen trope when done well by a guy fits wonderfully. I get the concern for that trope turning into a misogynist stereotype, but it really doesn't need to be.
It honestly just came to me that I've grown so fund of Smosh in a short amount of time partially because smosh does these things so much more genuinely and conscientiously than what I grew up watching. There's this local saturday comedy show emulating the formate of SNL. The core of it in the mids of regular sketch comedy is a sketch character competition running throughout the season. It was entertaining back when we where kids, but by now nothing has really aged well and although it managed to bring up many upcoming actors and comedians in its prime, it hasn't really lived up to the standards of modern time. We're talking about like less than 15 years to be clear, not decades. Obviously there's the fact of online vs tv and all that. But to me smosh has been an example in well thought out and natural, organically formed characters that don't base their entire essence on insensitive or outright bigoted stereotypes. It just came to my mind all of a sudden I think I find comfort in smosh's content (besides the entirely lovable cast and crew, warm athmosphere and genuine, insanely amazing dynamic that leads to both vulnerability and radiating the friendships between all of you, but also incredible humor) because of the familiarity of the comedy but with less awkward unease about the laziness and punch-down-y tone a lot of character centered skech comedy can take. Y'all are actually talented in what you do. I doesn't hinder you in any way whatsoever that you are also such nice, considerate people, it only amplifies your observations and gives debth to your characters.
i actually visited the breaking bad house about a week ago in albuquerque! there were big, black gates surrounding the entire property, a big black tarp over half of the house, and random belongings in the front yard (i assume to make pictures not worthy of). the family has lived there for 50ish years, and is tired of fans bs. it’s not hidden at all, it’s in east albuquerque off of a main street. the family deserves to be respected

Shayne really needs to bring back his Captain Francisco (sex captain) character, it was in just one video but absolutely hilarious, love his accent, he sounds like one of the Portuguese captains from the new Shogun series mixed with some Antonio Banderas, the character has a cool free-loving spirit yet also talking about wh*res and sex-axes.
Yes!! That's one time he played sex & romance as a character in such a comically sleezy way that it stops being creepy. I get what he means, and I assume especially as a straight white dude, that it must be hard to play those roles in a way that doesn't feel gross.
His sex captain reminds me of the guy Riley's mom fantasized about in "Inside Out" 😂😂😂😂

I like Amanda’s idea about doing the two Brooklyn detectives with Angela. I think one way you could differentiate between Sarah Christ and them is make them not actual detectives, but true crime junkies who binged enough documentaries where they THINK they’re detectives. They arrive at a crime scene and everyone’s like “Who are they?” and they’re like “Ah, classic case of double homicide” “Seen too many in my day” or whatever lol

I’d love to see Aunt Carolyn again, maybe with Damien’s voiceover agent. Aunt Carolyn’s drunken confidence with the agent’s crippling lack of self confidence could be a good dynamic. Plus the agent has only made one appearance and he was awesome.
But the teletubbies podcast also sounds so good. That video was one of the best smosh videos in a long time
