Mine is giving me the output shorted error when a trailer is not even hooked up . Also when I plug it into the connector it goes green for a second or two and then I get the error?
I would check the wiring as i did to make sure it isnt rubbing on any kind of metal part like a frame edge or something. If no, this may have happened
