      @@davidkennedy3050 maybe because it's not a copy. the idea that Steve Dashew "invented" the aluminum shallow draft narrow hull (sailboat with motor) design is obnoxious.

    • @srantoniomatos
      @srantoniomatos Před 2 měsíci

      Its getting quite boring reading "one more" "Dashew copy design" comment.
      Im also a fan, but, like me , most of these keyboard specialists never been in none of these boats. And Dashew didnt invent anything. Just specialized and refined a knowned kind of hull design (sleek, efficient...) for small to medium go anywhere cruise boats. Theres no patents. There s no mass prodution market on this level and niche. If other builders and designers are getting inspired...lets remember that "copy is the ultimate cumpliment". Specialy when improvement is add on it. And honestly this seems better then any Dashew i ever saw.
      Just move on please.

    The Arksen 85 is truly one of the most promising Explorer yachts on the market..... We almost only need some "live data" on the performance, which is difficult as it is a newcomer to the market..... Your video was a great insight into this astonishing vessel!! Thank you! As an Explorer yacht "wanna be" I am a sucker for this more comprehensive videos were we get a deeper insight into the actual yacht, and not only the "lets go through this" kind of videos.... I think - with the options I believe is available for this yacht - one can get the deck surfaces as one wants, and if that is not all grey, maybe flexiteak or other materiel could be available....? I think, as you pointed out in the video, this is a ship/yacht, that is capable of so much individual adaption, that it could fit almost anyone looking for this kind of explore yacht. Once again, thank you for giving us this opportunity to see a more in-depth view of a very promising yacht (apologies for any misspellings or gramma mishaps - I am not a native English speaker )

    Fantastic craft, would have the jointing flush personally but keep the aluminium look for lack of maintenance. You missed the heated water nozzles on the front facing windows to keep the windows clear in very cold climates and the fold down seating next to the day head and stairs. Loved the Scandinavian look and feel to the interior.

    Worth the wait! Not a bunch of overtly "luxe" finishes, but the level of craftsmanship is apparent in every surface. Honestly, it makes me less interested in buying a yacht and more interested in when Arksen will be making a spaceship.

    Interesting to see no clear coat applied on the deckhead. For the southern ocean, condensation drips streak down on glass etc, and lead to corrosion.

    This was one of the best boat walk through a I’ve seen. Very well done. You should be on every builder’s short list for content. Did I miss it in the video…draft? Boat looks well thought out for an owner operator couple if “enthusiasts” but I always wonder about how restrictive the draft would be on a boat of this size. Also, and this was mentioned below in another comment…how much cold food storage? That many berths means a lot of mouths to feed for an extended cruise. It would be good to show the food storage situation. What an engine room though. Wow. Overall really enjoyed this.

    I had such high hopes for Arksen based on the sketches they released such as carrying a Nemo submersible and 2 giant tenders. This doesn't appear to be the case. The other thing was the unfinished aluminum. I had thought that these were to be covered in fairing material and painted. Not that it is a big deal, but just zome things about this didn't live up to the hype. Still an amazing yacht, but some of the things we were told just didn't materialize.

    Wonderful technology........in my opinion for what it is worth, it's ugly.

    Thanks to Steve Dashew. Arksen must have bought his designs. ???

    There's a lot to like about Arksen's designs , but some weird bits, too. Started for me with that absurd heads compartment on the otherwise interesting Arksen 30 & continues here . Really dislike the curved , ie custom, glass fronting the pilothouse. Hard to replace....except by Arksen....which I'm sure is the idea. How many other things are bespoke that, as a far-ranging owner, you'd prefer to be off-the-shelf ? The wetlocker in the vestibule is a great idea, poorly-executed; where are the other 6-8 peeps putting their gear ? Handrails everywhere but a non-gimballed transbeam cooktop with your back to the action & no "U" behind ? I get mixed signals there; either the boat moves like a sailboat, thus the handrails, or it's stable enough for a domestic kitchen style galley. I guarantee lines will NOT dry in those open bulwark stowage spaces anywhere there is rain and/or spray, ie everywhere on the sea...lol... ( there's a reason gear lockers on quality boats are both drainable AND gasket-sealed) & look like a huge stability issue if you take water over the side.
    Fit & finish looked iffy in spots, too. Overly-stiff door & cupboard handles/hinges, brand-new but already sagging upholstery, unfinished & paint spattered edges on the underside of that stair stowage. If you can spot these sloppy details in a quick video, it makes you worry about the details you can't see that may be more than aesthetic. I don't think you'd see that on a Bering, for eg.
    Good first effort, but some issues to be worked out, imo.
    Sorry to be downbeat, YB, but honest feedback will do more for Arksen's future success than gushing ad nauseam, imo.

      the handrails are just in-case touches. the boat has Humphrey stabilizers and 2 sea keepers. again...the people comparing this to a Bering, that's about twice the dry weight if not more, seem to miss the point.
