The WD-40 Effect | Acrylic Pour Painting

  • If you want to have nice cells in your pictures, just use WD 40! So that it works well, but you should note a little thing. The secret, so that not too many cells arise, the WD 40 comes only in the white color, stir well, so that many small cells arise and enjoy.
    In the orange on the left and the darker blue below there are even nice net cells.
    If you liked it, then I look forward as always to a nice comment or a thumbs up.
    Thanks and creative greetings

    I used to spray the inside of the cup with WD-40, swirl it around to cover the inside of the cup and then turn it upside down to let it drain out. Then I added my paints...worked great for dirty pours.

      @@Itsadarknight that's a matter of personal preference. Generally I lump art into two groups. People who create things with artistic intention and things that evoke an emotional response in the viewer. Acrylic pour art can be both of those things, ergo art. I paint botanical water colors, but I see that there is technique and mastery in acrylic pour art. Anyone can do it, but so what?

    I would think any oil would work, because it's the interaction between the water-based paint and the oil that makes the cells. But I'm wondering if it will affect the resin finish and it's ability to stick to the painting, and whether it affects how long the paintings stay nice. Does anybody know?

    • @cyndilouwho
      @cyndilouwho Před 11 měsíci +19

      Yes. So firstly, silicone and silicone based oil is the only oil you should use. Things like cooking oils dont work so well. And the reason to use only a little is because of the residue when the paint dries. The silicone oil sits on top of the painting. If COMPLETELY dry, a dry paper towel first, followed by a LIGHTLY misted-in-isopropyl alcohol paper towel will remove the residue. Be sure to carefully rub the oil off and not destroy the paint. Then, any gloss latex, acrylic, or epoxy resin finish can be applied without issue.

    • @cyndilouwho
      @cyndilouwho Před 11 měsíci +10

      To clarify, some people have also used coconut milk hair serums. But one of the top ingredients is silicone oil. I have always used very cheap, generic silicone lubricant sprays and i take the spray nozzle off so its just the plastic pipe and i can control drops.

No matter the quality, the importance really is in 1) consistency over everything. You're looking for a runny pancake batter. And 2) color choices and color coordination

      Not answering for Tiktus, but for me, it always depends on how thick the paint was when stretched, and the temperature. I live in a high climate, mostly dry heat all the time. But we get some muggy, cold days so my pours usually take 30-48 hrs to dry. Havent seen much difference using silicone oil, except when i used too much and the painting wasnt well done anyway. Definitely only use 1-3 drops or 1-3 short spray bursts when using any silicone oils/lubricants
