Mental health issues hurt a lot more than anything physical can, people think because you look okay, that you are but a smile and a well kept appearance can hide a lot of pain from the world. I think both pains should be taken seriously and shouldn't be placed above one another as more or less painful. It's sad but true. No one want to see the pain that can't be seen. So people push it aside in hopes that it will go away. Others don't want to feel the emotional pain of others and be stuck with the burden, so ignoring has become the normal.
Its easier to gift a present to someone with a broken leg, knowing the pain is temporary (one present at the start) , then to gift a present to someone struggling mentally, not knowing how long u will be "stuck" with them (a present everytime they feel down) . having to struggle with both at the same time (especially when mental problems are caused by the physical health.) is pretty awful. people say “oh i hope you get better soon!” and “im so sorry to hear that.. i hope you feel better :(“ so you just kinda say “yeah hopefully.” even though deep down, you think it will never end. it’s a feeling like your drowning in an endless ocean of pain and sadness, but you just have to mask the emotional and mental side of it until that mask eventually breaks and they see your true colours.
to anyone suffering, just know that im rooting for you. you can do this. i don’t care who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done or what you will do, but i care about you. you’ve got this.

If you have a fall you've usually been rushing or stressed and not looking where you are going. You're not focused. If you have a disease or a health concern its usually come on through DIS- EASE. THE opposite of ease.. where everything is going well in your world.

But of course there are people who actually make you feel better and with enough effort and time, you can slowly help the problems get a bit better. I had a colleague that would just show up at my house unannounced and make a pot of tea or bring me a coffee and a snack. She would just sit with me and say nothing then go home. She did it quite often even though I never wanted visitors or food at the time. Looking back now and she's a big part of why I'm still here.

Mental health, depression, you’re left alone, no rallying friends or family with positive support. Maybe some get support. How true this is. After I had COVID, I had severe depression and suicidal thoughts. I reached out to friends and acquaintances about the extreme depression and if I could talk with them or spend a little time with them to feel safe until I got it under control, but the most I got was “I’m so sorry, praying for you” text in return. It was a most painful, heartbreaking time, and knowing I had no one to truly count on made it even harder to get over the depression. Finally found a med that works pretty good and I have to go to counseling weekly, but I no longer interact with my “friends” like I used to. Their reactions really broke something in me that can never be fixed or found again.

However would be important to mention how interconnected mental and physical health are together. Chronic illness can really impact your mental state, and mental state can cause physical health deterioration as well (in a psychosomatic and consequential way). So from holistic perspective it shouldn't be separated as two different things
Of course in this example it is broken leg, which is acute suffering. Would be quite different example if referring to one of the chronic debilitating illnesses.

Except when you have a chronic pain that lasts years and will never go away and that you have to take medication just to function a little. Eventually, people stop caring as much or even at all. Even going so far as to compare their daily pains with your mind numbing pain that keeps you from doing the things you love and want to do. Add in depression and anxiety and it's the loneliest place in the world. I've lived here for too long.

Anything that isn't acute often gets this treatment, it's unfortunately not unique to mental illnesses which of course deserve care.
